SO it appears it is user henkster, here on BCT, that reported the puzzle.  He commented on this thread earlier. Syaing it was a sham and unsolvable and n\bla bla bla ... He just deleted the is comment. He's upset I have posted his email in this thread. Which I didnt intend to do, but I cant remove it now, Its been quoted. Its obviously a secondary account for someone here.

Anyways, thank this user for removing the puzzle.

The right thing to do would be to post the solution so that all people could see that it was legit.

im with O4karitO,
tell us about yours clues, that would have solved the scrambled PK,
im sure everybody that tried will remember seeing them,
then we can establish if you were legit or just after subs
I also agree with this. Would love to see what was I missing.

I think he should be given time to figure out what to do. He spent a lot of time putting this together so I would vote to be patient.

I'll share my ideas on this puzzle for what it is worth.

1. The OP kept conflating the raw 32 byte hex code with the WIF compressed format. His instructional videos showed said that the 32 byte private key contained the numbers 0-9 ans A-Z case insensitive.
This is not the case for the raw format 0-9a-f or the WIF base58 format with missing letters and number O,0,I,l.
In any case, I thought he might be using a mnemonic from the BIP39 wordlist. Here are some of the words that I found in the order presented in the video,
Episode, puzzle, (bright or sunny---from sunglasses), (party or festival), cherry(bomb), advice( from 33), little, corn, field, old, country, boy, travel, security, common, sense.
I found several valid private keys from this list but not the correct one. Maybe you can find it.

2. The OP said that all the characters were not scrambled. With that info, I looked for a way to slice the scrambled characters into blocks of characters. My first given is that the unscrambled compressed WIF key will start with a 'K' followed by either 'x', 'y' or 'z'. I would slice the scrambled key to expose those letters so they could pair with the 'K'. The way I determined how to slice was using the same words I used in the mnemonic approach-- slicing by the length of the word. I found several ways to slice this up, but nothing that would give me a valid key.

Edit : I forgot to mention that one block would have 33 characters unchanged from the scrambled key

Do these approaches look promising? I am curious too how this was to be solved:)

AndThen

But you're over thinking it, as op said.  This puzzle was geared towards "newbs"  Huh
i was on exact same thinking path as you. Which was "overthinking" it
So i guess someone not knowing anything about BTC woulda guessed it  Grin Grin per op

I’m not sure where the overthinking line is. The Op suggested going to bitcoin.org to learn about bitcoin.
He also showed how to create mnemonic seeds in his videos and how would you know what a compressed WIF is and that it must begin with a K or L. It’s not clear to me where to draw that line.

Funs over for everyone. NOT my fault or strike IMO. Video down so is the prize. Hows that fair to new users if they cant view the puzzle to win?

Ill regroup and return :-)

think of this as a positive experience. next time you create a video you have this experience so you make videos that are more resilient to take downs by Youtube team.
additionally since the puzzle is over you should now explain how to solve the puzzle here so that people could see the level of it and whether it was designed well or not or even if it was solvable.

Throughout the video you heard and saw the scrambled characters. Quite a few people were on the right path. 1,2,3,10,33,45 and the last character.

The total scrambled characters for this puzzle was 8. Now before the wankers start to cry because it was like 40,320 different variations. It was also a little lesson in it. Our group conversation was the friend of the new user or anyone unfamiliar with compressed key formatting. Experienced user had a leg up on the first 2 characters.

The lesson here is, compressed keys currently start with K or L. Since this key did not have a L, we know it started with K. (now 7 scrambled characters) The following character would have to be an x, y or z (second lesson) and once you had the correct scrambled characters, process of elimination says its has to be y (an x or z was not scrambled) Now only 6 characters - 720 variations.

My issue is, user henkster has said he will be reporting my account to have it banned. Hes a true wankster. So, I guess I have to start from scratch. I will take this experience and grow from it. The unfortunate part is, new users will have no idea how to participate without instructional videos showing how to use bitcoin software. So, I guess Ill just be instructing them to find their own source on the internet. AND that was really the goal here. Showing new users Bitcoin isn't as hard as they heard it was. Yet, the lesson a few have commented to me is, I knew Bitcoin was a scam. Great job kid, great job :-)

To anyone who doesn't use or know how to use PGP, I recommend googling how to use it. Install it on your device. It is so handy for electronically securing everything text related.

Well, you know that not everybody is nice over the internet and a few trolls are just enough to spoil any fun.
You can let them win or you can go on. I'd prefer the second option since although I was (very) far from the result, it was still fun.
Just.. yeah, I'm not a newbie and I'm the example that not only newbies will try to grab the prize.

Okay so a complete newbie should have been able to decode the clues in the video, unscramble the first 2 characters, and still have to GUESS the order of the remaining 6??? That's not a solvable puzzle, you're just retarded. 720 possible solutions do not count as a puzzle. I have so many questions now and don't even know where to start ...

Where is the 45 in the video?
How were we supposed to know the order of the remaining 6? Just try all 720 possibilities??

That, in my opinion, is absolutely not a puzzle, it's a guessing game and thank god that the puzzle was taken down because I would have wasted so much time, on a puzzle that is totally unsolvable. Even if you figure out the characters that need to be unscrambled, I still am left with 720 combinations to try. Dumb.

Oh shit i was that close goddamn it i knew it... i got the first 3 letters right i didn't knew the 33 in the cherry is a really a clue because you said it wasn't part of the clue so i disregard that part damn...

My first 3 letters was right KYM the obvious was k i got the y because was testing the random compress private keys from the bitaddress.org i noticed that the y was very frequent to appear than w x and z and also, i noticed too that in that i randomly generated private keys that letters is very frequent than numbers so i took out the 5. Anyway i wasn't finish yet on the puzzle but the video was taken down.

you were close to what? because you knew the PK started with a K and you knew that the next letter was a y?

How would anyone would have been close? Even if you figured out in the video he was telling us which position in the unscrambled key the characters that needed to be unscrambled were you still would have to scramble those characters (which have 720 possible combonations) lol.

Oh shit i was that close goddamn it i knew it... i got the first 3 letters right i didn't knew the 33 in the cherry is a really a clue because you said it wasn't part of the clue so i disregard that part damn...

you were close to what? because you knew the PK started with a K and you knew that the next letter was a y?

How would anyone would have been close? Even if you figured out in the video he was telling us which position in the unscrambled key the characters that needed to be unscrambled were you still would have to scramble those characters (which have 720 possible combonations) lol.

Why are you scared to comment with your real account? Come on henkster dont cry like a little bitch because you couldnt write a code to help you ... lol  Cheesy

Throughout the video you heard and saw the scrambled characters. Quite a few people were on the right path. 1,2,3,10,33,45 and the last character.

The total scrambled characters for this puzzle was 8. ...

Told you, with the information we had was impossible to solve the puzzle, i never saw the 10, 45, and the last character on the video, lol. But at least you show us it was real and fair.

Too bad that the video gets doomed, that sucks, next time upload the video to https://d.tube/ and you could earn some cryptos on the way while you promote btc.

Good luck and hope to see another giveaway like this soon.

If the only problem you had was with 720 permutations, them I demand you turn in your cryptoking---you can keep the zzzz.Smiley

If I was clever enough to get to that point it would only take 0.1ms to find the answer.

anyhow, I just thought you mentioned there was no coding knowledge necessary.

and you absolutely NEVER mentioned 45, or the last character anywhere in your puzzle.

For what it's worth: I appreciate what you're trying to do, and I really like Bitcoin puzzles. I found it too late though, so I hope you can sort it out with Youtube.

It might have been this comment. Not sure how many comments henkster made. Thanks for sharing this one :-)

The puzzle is more than likely lost to youtube for "copyright infringements" henkster claimed to be mycelium. AND I had a shot of my mycelium wallet open. Oh well. Im working on new stuff now. Thanks for the interest.

Could you please explain where does 45 come from?
You say 1,2,3,last. 10 is y. 33 is in cherry.
The fact is that I wrote a python script that was going through all possible permutations changing 1,2,3, the last character and x, both ys and z, which resulted in nothing, since the only one I was missing was 45s character "b"
