Don't know why even the Chipmixer's thread is included.
For it has been a habit here that, if a certain user likes a thread/project or whatsoever it is, he/she may give his/her Merit to that... Not all may agree, but in some cases this is abusive(not all). Besides its their own sMerit, they have worked for it, so it just a common thing that they have the rights where to spend it, even other users won't agree with it.

Why do you think a hit-and-run-account deserves more Merit?

Everyone is free to spend their merits however they want. So yes, if the Chipmixer ANN is valued more by certain members of the community than BISQ, of course Chipmixer will receive more merits.

It's impossible to measure content quality the way you want to. And frankly, i don't understand the problem either. It's not like BISQ is in any way comparable to chipmixer. (And even if it was: your point is: ? )

I don't know why you even came up with this topic, whoever merit a thread/s or whatsoever topic, it's their right or freedom to spend it if they like it. Chipmixer is the luxurious signature bounty to earn btc right now and they're honest and paid participants in time, I guess that's a valuable reason they get that amount of merit.

So the disparity is totally fair and warranted. simple as that you say..

LOL valued by more certain members??? thanks for that excuse chipmixer promoter.

Of course, look forward to chipmixer complete domination soon, and any other project the "HIGH MERIT" cyclers decide fit.

Your volume is now at the mercy of the main merit fountains here. Better fall inline quick.

They may not hear you speaking though in threads that genuinely interest you, so best come to meta and become a scammer supporter and merit enthusiast asap.

Warning for everyone thinking about starting a discussion with the user above: DO NOT FEED THE TROLL.

Can't you all just freaking ignore him? Every single day a new thread appers and people start rambling with him, WHICH IS A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME. I'm starting to think people only do this to increase their post count, because I can't see any other reason we would keep feeding him with more attention.

Since we are BOTH off-topic, I suspect that these posts will get deleted soon. But I don't care. PLEASE, just STOP it already.

Chipmixer is here to tell you that addressing the reasons for the disparity you mention in the OP are trolling.

You are only allowed to say that it is totally fair or there is no disparity. Chipmixer merit cyclers say so.

Fall in line and say sorry now or your voice will be too quiet to hear soon. We are voting for this system on meta soon so speak up here whilst you still can.

A large proportion of the merits the original post in the above thread came from DarkStar_, so that skews the data just a wee bit.  I'm not going to comment on whether those merits were deserved or not, but it was well within DarkStar_'s rights to hand them out as he saw fit, and I can't fault him for that.

This is really a non-issue.  Only when a member makes a habit out of either giving away obscene amounts of merits, gives them out to posts that are objectively bad, or sells or gives merits mainly to friends or alt accounts that there's a problem.  And even then, there isn't a guarantee that anything is going to be done about it.  Theymos has stated that he basically wants people to leave the merit system alone and let it work itself out.  That's why merit abusers haven't been getting tagged much.

Well that's that for the campaign managers then.. LOL

NON ISSUE - Leave them alone - will sort itself out.

The disparity is natural, it is intentional, no punishment, will sort itself out (one day in the distant future when humans have discovered it is wrong to act for their own selfish gain)

Keep waiting until then until you complain please.

Do not notice these excuses for the disparity come from people wearing CHIPMIXER banners. Thanks for moving along until we can silence you with the new bumping rules. You can voice concerns from page 100 and below then.

How about you make a case on why this... whatever it is you're promoting... deserves merits. And not here in Meta, because this has nothing to do with Meta. Try this merit giveaway thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5093271.0

Complaining that some other thread got more merits is just pathetic. LoyceV got more merits than me - I'll just cry quietly and never complain.

Well you are doing a lot better than I am. My merit score is flatlining since I got stressed over Brexit, and I turned to vintage farm machinery. We need to develop a blockchain that is driven by a stationary engine, and then we can save the planet. Smiley

So you are saying this is you now:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOfZLb33uCg

Seriously, however I think some of the merit issues that people point out, like the OP here are because some people think something is important yet other people don't, and they can't wrap their heads around the fact that DaveCoin and it's associated posts get getting more merit then Rotten Egg Coin and it's associated posts.

-Dave

BTW, gave you merit :-)
Edit: Suchmoon gave you more trying to out do me ;-)

Fam you good??

You can only ignore a certain amount of users, new ones will keep popping regardless. Let them rant, and let us juggle with their anger.

I don't think there's anything wrong with Darkstar_'s merit handing, in terms of a business relationship that he's had for over 2 years and trusted with hundreds of thousands of dollars, I think handing out 50 merits as a token of thankfulness/trustworthiness is pretty justified. Maybe the merit system wasn't necessarily created for this, but it's certainly not wrong.

Sometimes people just go on terms of technicality and merit posts based on how good or bad it is. There's more than just that, a post may neither be good or bad, but may still deserve merits based on its nature.

Lol. Why should you keep talking with people like cryptohunter and the user above (which are most likely the same person) when they (he) keeps saying the same thing over and over with big walls of text and no one takes them (him) serious? DT conspiracy and yada yada... Sounds like an opportunity to keep a discussion going on tbh. Nothing productive is ever produced from these posts. It pollutes the forum and it’s annoying. This is BitcoinTalk and not “DTdramaTalk (which is all people talk about these days).

^Is it justified?
Yup, it is.
Bisq is awesome but so is Chipmixer.
One argument could be because Chipmixer have had one of the best long signature campaigns here so certain users particularly merited them in appreciation. It's no brainer, it's human nature to appreciate sometimes.
The signature campaign has done a lot to put keep them known atleast everywhere in the forum unlike Bisq

Another reason could also be due to their outstanding service compared to their competition like bitblender who have pulled out of the game.

I believe I spent my normal (non-source) merits on that post, and I can pretty much do whatever I want with them. If theymos thinks that this is abuse, he's welcome to remove me as a source. BISQ would likely have more merits if they actually utilized the forum as it is a really neat technical project, but they don't, so they get a lot less visibility and thus less merits. There's also quite a few BISQ accounts, which spreads out the merits a bit. User "bisq_network" has a 1 merit per post on average, which you can't really complain about either.

I don't understand why people care too much on how others use their sMerits (source or non-source sMerits).

Good posters will do easily to earn merits, but it takes time to read & learn from documents, guides, rules; read carefully OPs and previous posts before commenting. For them, I don't think they have reasons to complain on why I have not yet earned a single merit? The merit system is broken, and should be fixed or removed. They do not care about the ways other good posters spend sMerits.

Nowadays, people think that sMerits are not only used for good posts, but also used to show agreement/ like. I have no issues with any kind of approach, as long as they don't do sMerits exchanges back and forth, especially for scam platforms, and terrible posts (in term of post quality).
Merit sales, transfers to aliases, back-and-forth trading, etc. are not much of an issue. All illegitimate merit will decay, and will account for a tiny and very expensive fraction of the total merit economy. It's basically a rounding error; fight it where convenient, but waste no sleep over it.
