ETH now is at $172, and it's increased than the OP said. The price still showing good progress to reach a higher price so we can hope the price can go to the higher price soon. But I don't think it will end the bear trend because bitcoin is on the way to increase too. And usually, if bitcoin increase, some altcoin can increase but we don't know about that. Will ETH still rise while bitcoin price increase or not? Only time will tell, and we can wait for it's happening.

Agree with you, although eth is performing better than what OP had expected but it also cannot mean that the downtrend will end because eth is not the main character in the market, it is still a character that depends on others, and bitcoin as we know it, it is always an important factor to decide the trend of altcoin, any increase or decrease pushes the market along, eth is difficult to be an exception. How eth's trend will go, time is truly a complete answer for all of us but right now we definitely can't pinpoint

I don't think so, because with Bitcoin still at 68% dominance level a break to the lower of $7500 would cause the market to bleed more, just looked at what happened last year when the price lost the $6000 resistance level, all other Altcoins in the space lost also their resistance level, I just hope Bitcoin would regain the $8500 level fast

I don't really understand ... In my opinion downtrend ended at the turn of 2018/2019 at the price of $ 80. We have seen large corrections for several months, but the price is rising.

It can be analyzed from two perspectives:

First, Ethereum looks bad. After the support/resistance flip and losing the 200MA on the hourly it is now hanging on the horizontal support in the $165-175 zone. If Bitcoin drops more that i give it a %60 chance it will, Ethereum will fall deeply. On the other hand, from a tech standpoint, the two main issues with Ethereum right now are improvements in speed and scalability. If the market continues like this, surely this technical issues will scare some people who have Ethereum and encourages them to come out.

Second, Bitcoin and Ethereum are both showing bullish divergence on the 4 hour RSI and MACD. it could be indicative of a price reversal to the upside soon. On the other hand Vitalik is very serious about ETH 2.0 and devoted it. I think many people still believe in ethereum because of it, and it helps to bull market.

When the change in BTC's price becomes negative, it immediately starts to have a negative impact on the altcoins but when the BTC increased, we saw the same scene again. I still don't understand what time period you're talking about?! After all, ETH recovered price from level of $80 this year! I don't know why the increase of over 100% in a few months is not noticeable to you ?!

At least give some technical analysis on where you are basing this at. And why is the usd pairing important on your scenario? Why not pair it with btc? If you know what's the resistance is going to be in usd, you must know what is it going to be in btc also?
