We can use old smarphone even now if we turn of wi-fi ...
We could just install Electrum app for example.

Some certainly seem insistent on convincing people to use a phone for their crypto wallet for some reason.

ikr? Not sure I'd want to rely on "airplane mode" to keep funds safu. And parity is just another Ethereum thing, and I think we all know their track record on security.  Cheesy

could connect it's self to internet...

You know very well a phone if the person has internet shut off, is not going to connect itself to the net without the person knowing, unless someone else connects it.

Not 100% accurate.  I had an S5 Active that I used only as a GPS for while.  I would put in in airplane mode to save battery power when I took it into the woods.  It wouldn't stay in airplane mode if I restarted it.  Phones are complex devices, than can develop buggy behavior.

That would be fantastic!  If a thief broke into your house, the probability of it getting stolen would be pretty low.  Then again a Ledger or some other hardware wallet can be tucked away pretty much anywhere since it's so small.
Yep,,,Its hard to find a thief who is well notified about Ledger or other small shape hardware wallets. So there is higher chances that thief will not be interested to pick up Ledger if they find it somehow in my house Cheesy. Mobile phone is the first choice for them and they gonna take it without checking it's properly working or not. Maybe its kinda funny to explain but if you ask me about the use of this new App then i will loudly say NO. Hardware wallets are specially made for storing users fund with extreme security and easy to maintain.

Although i have a large collection of old phones and i like to store them but most of these phone's have got battery issues and pretty much hard to find charger cables for recharging.

I've never heard of it before so it must be a new app. I think the idea is nice and can be helpful for those who can't afford to buy a hardwallet and have only a small amount to store. however I don't think is going to ideal solution because phones are heavily and no would carry two phones instead of just buying a small device like ledger nano and have a piece of mind.

An allegation in general that phones are buggy and complex does not legally allow you to be a thief

What?  I don't understand your argument, or if it is an argument.  I made a rebuttal to your claim that there's no way for a phone to attempt to connect itself to the internet.  What makes you think I'm saying it's legal to be a thief?  And since when do thieves give a fuck about the legality of their actions?

I'm simply saying that the phones don't make safe and secure storage for cryptocurrency, even if you think they can't connect themselves to internet.  I wouldn't think to use one as a substitute for a hardware wallet.  I sited my reasoning.

Plus you have to worry about the integrity of that old phone you want to use just for cold storage. There is a reason why that person isn't using that phone anymore aside from them having a new phone the old one would have some issues ranging from being laggy to a unreliable battery, once it gives up then you have no choice but to repair it and if I were you I won't trust my cold storage phone to be handed onto anyone just to fix it. This isn't really an ideal alternative for any hardware wallets out there as I would rather buy a new and reliable hardware wallet then to risk it just to utilize my old phone.
Problem with hardware wallet (ledger or trezor) is they are too small and the possibility of it to be misplaced is high, unlike using an old Iphone like an Iphone 6 and if its lost or stolen, you can use the find my iphone feature, same with using an android phone, I heard they also have almost the same function so at least you will have a peace of mind in case you iphone dedicated for Cryto transactions are lost or stolen.

I doubt that you can really misplace something that valuable if you are really a responsible hodler. Think of your hardware wallet as a piece of jewelry or even a photo that has a sentimental value for you, this items are not just placed onto any surface but is kept on a secure location that you know. Same goes with hardware wallets after you buy it you have another responsibility to carry in order to protect your cryptocurrencies. Having cryptos on your mobile phone in the other hand is no different than having a web wallet installed in that phone, you do know that hackers has other ways of getting your phone connected in the internet remotely in various ways.

Do you think that just because you can access someone else's phone you get to relieve them of the burden of having crypto on their phone, so that instead you have it and that that is okay for you to do such?

I feel like I'm clapping with one hand.  Roll Eyes

There is another app the same as this wallet mention by OP they have two wallets called airgap vault and airgap wallet which is the online one and the offline one as cold Storage.

Based on my experience they are just like the same as a hardware wallet but the differences you don't need to connect your other mobile phone to your offline wallet compared to a hardware wallet that you need to connect it directly to PC.
I have two phones both of them are Samsung the new one and the old one(No wifi already because I destroy the mac with Z3X to make sure no wifi)
Until now I use them as a wallet for some coins because they currently support few altcoins.

So I think this is good and much safer than a phone with internet connection and good if you don't have extra budget to buy a hardware wallet.
Never heard any issue yet about airgap wallets this is much safer. I don't know about the wallet from the first-page post I never heard of them too.

Unfortunately I am that clumsy when it comes to keeping small things as small as USB. I lost a lot of USBs already thats why I would rather go for a portable Hard drive than usb or flash drives. However, you guys are right, if ever a thief would break in my house, 1st thing that they look for are the gadgets like smart phones and laptops. So I guess its not a good idea after all.

But IMO the thief also could assume any goods with USB port must have some value and decide to stole it anyway Tongue
Agreed,,, Cry

I think then its gonna be better to collect chocolate shape hardware wallets for hiding it from modern thieves but much worried about my house kids. They love chocolate more than fruits Roll Eyes
