Recently, I have encountered a lot of fraud in selling wallet.dat files

Here, users lost $ 4,000
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5105163.msg52445083#msg52445083

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5240546.msg54222881#msg54222881
In this message, the user writes that he bought wallets, and they were all fake

This is how fake wallets look after checking

If this is the same wallet that we are thinking about, then there are no private keys in it ...
Here is the password for this wallet: "12aVP18cd5XsbcGQy8u6eywQ6UuA6Q319s" :-) you can
..

these addresses were integrated into the wallet using the service  http://xingfeng.org
https://blockchain.com/btc/address/12c6DSiU4Rq3P4ZxziKxzrL5LmMBrzjrJX
https://blockchain.com/btc/address/1HLoD9E4SDFFPDiYfNYnkBLQ85Y51J3Zb1
https://blockchain.com/btc/address/1FvzCLoTPGANNjWoUo6jUGuAG3wg1w4YjR
..

Many forums prohibit such trading, even if the wallet is real.

I think it’s wrong to allow the sale of wallets on this forum. Warnings, flags, and negative reviews do not solve this problem. Users still buy and lose money.

My suggestion is to prohibit the sale of other people's wallets on the forum.

I’ve seen people selling wallet.dat’s & or pretending they can’t remember their encryption passwords. Both cases are highly likely to be a stolen wallet.dat file which may very well contain a lot of bitcoin’s BUT without the password you can’t access funds hence them being useless.

So yeah, I think it should definitely be banned as why would anybody sell them because if they genuinely have access to the coins they could just sell them on an exchange.

Thanks!

I fully support that the sale of wallet.dat should be banned from the forum as it is essentially a fraud designed for inexperienced users. No one will sell their wallet.dat if they forget their password.

Banning things doesn't stop them, it just makes them go on in secret. This is another good example of a fool and his money soon being parted no matter what you do. If people are going to do dumb shit and not do any due diligence, it is just a matter of time.

You are absolutely right. The fool will lose his money anyway. I do not want people to lose money on this forum and then become disappointed in it.

Neither do I, but you can't protect people from themselves. Spend that time warning them rather than trying to get new rules passed. All it will do is make these con artists refine their methods.
