No, I believe that penalty roughly equals to 10 hours worth of mining and that relation doesn't change with epochs passing by.

I've explained it here once:

Current mining penalty is equal to 45,188 DNA = 7,8h of mining.

And time to mine penalty is constant (~8h) because mining speed and mining penalty is based on the same variable which is number of online nodes. No matter how big the network will grow.

My node is having penalty issue too. I've revived 3 of them yesterday. Good thing is that penalties does not sum up. I still have 45 DNA do mine ... not ~90 (3x45 minus minted while node was running)

I think that it is worth to pass it here from telegram (Vitalik vs Andrew) - I can't certify the authenticity but it looks legit.

the best part of 343 is that 343^0.(3) = 7 - that means that epoch will take 7 days not 6 and few next validations will be lock on Saturdays (day free from work) till we will hit 8^3=512 nodes. I think that jump to 512 will be almost instant than (~1 month).

Yes, it is hard to believe that idena is still a testnet, but it already has many communities and they are increasing every week. Today's number of validations translates to 343 validated participants. This is truly extraordinary. The release time of mainnet is still long and there are still many opportunities.

When there are too many nodes online the mining rewards will go down. Yesterday my 12 hours mining only manage to collect 32 Idena. The week before i can get atleast 60 - 65 Idena

Let's say one day 200 nodes are online: ( (51,840 DNA mined a day) ÷ 2 ) ÷ (nodes online) = (25,920 DNA ÷ 200 nodes) = 129.6 DNA per node a day

Last week there was ~ 210 nodes a day mining on average. The rewards were ~ 123 DNA per node a day.

Well i don't know if that works for mining rewards too but I've just checked that older accounts receive bigger rewards and bigger mining penalties.

I don't know how did it happen but I got a penalty again and it's 21 DNA,

My today penalty = 31.487 DNA
If i have 50% bigger penalty I should also mine 50% faster?

Mine (16 epoch old account) received 157.989

I'm not yet sure if that affects mining rewards too. If so than 129.6DNA counted by you is an average reward (f.e. from 30DNA for age 1 to 200DNA for age 33)

Are you mining? My figure was 12 hours mining NOT per day. so my 60-65 IDENA per 12 hours mining rewards is valid 2 weeks before.

Last week rewards goes down to 30 - 32 Idena for 12 hours mining before epoch #33, There are 3 wallet updates last week and i don't know if that affects mining rewards of lower ages nodes compare to older nodes.

I am sharing my first hand experience and not just some random computation, Right now 8 hours mining 30 Idena already.

Take this with healty dose of reserve as I'm just a guy who came with these conclusions without bothering devs to confirm it or deny it...
In the time that you are reading this, devs are maybe allready working on a fix and new versions came out...

Idena problems/solutions, frequently asked questions:

q1: Why am I getting black screen during validation in short session?
a1: a) If you are running multiple idena's in same household, your router maybe can't handle too much connections
     b) If you are running remote node, maybe your internet connection/router is failing

q2: Why am I getting black screen during validation in short session for a 10-15 seconds?
a2: If you are running remote node, there is possibility that your OS where the node is, and OS where the client is, are not synced to the same time... Maybe for that 10-15 seconds of difference...

q3: Can I put idena to run on my rig since it's allready online 24/7?
a3: You can but idena can cause different things and behaviour on computer from version to version... It can take all cpu resource or connections so your miner can't work as it should

As we are in testnet buggy things happen, untill stable versions come out, here are some tips and tricks...

1. Windows / run node externaly in a loop:
(this starts node again if it crashes for some reason, if it hangs, this wont help... but it might save you from penalty)

1. in location %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Idena\node create run.bat with content:

3. run previously created bat

5. in client, turn on Connect to remote host, paste api key and Save

1. Make a run.sh file in the same directory where the node file is, give it permision to be executable.

Shuffle them good.. so that start of story and end is clearly mixed up...

I have just finished script that checks if node has gone offline and sends you email if node is offline for more than 10minutes.

I guess this was not an isolated case anymore, But the update provided yesterday says they fix that bug and hoping it will not happen again to some random users.

The dev got the premine fund and 100% agree to compensate users who experience this issues.
