I assume this happens because we are still on the testnet. Once we fully switch to mainnet I hope HF will be something you'll forget about.
I keep reading that Idena is now in the testnet stage. But this is obviously not true. Testnet means a network that is unstable and test coins that are not worth anything.

Have you seen at least one test coin that is traded on 4 exchanges?

Exchanges can list anything they want. Even ETH placeholder for coin that is not even in Testnet stage. Qtrade listed Idena in February when it was clearly a testnet with less than 200 nodes. But i agree that it is no longer testnet. I only don't know why Andrew is quiet about it:

"The seamless hard fork update mechanism is a major step towards decentralized onchain governance. We consider the Idena blockchain to be switched to the mainnet status once the network becomes capable of seamlessly upgrading protocol versions based on the agreement of the network’s majority. Every validated participant will be empowered to decide which node version to support."
https://medium.com/idena/idena-hard-fork-announcement-d194f8816d37

04.11 we had first seamless upgrade so network is capable of seamlessly upgrading protocol versions so its mainnet

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

As far as I remember, Hotbit listing was made right after unlocking the developers coins at the end of summer. I am almost sure that these coins were used to pay for the listing. It does not look like a test coin, right?

At the end of the summer, or rather on August 31, coins were unblocked not by developers, but by early investors and they could not serve as payment, perhaps it was from other funds. more details here https://scan.idena.io/circulation

True, maybe they are quiet about it as a precaution measure. If anything goes wrong. Remember the glitch from epoch #46, where half the network were killed/suspended?!

To Buy, or not to Sell? That is the question.

Hello All,

I would like to ask that Unnamed Exchange, https://www.unnamed.exchange/, be considered for listing for Idena.  This exchange has many features desirable for listing and is relatively inexpensive at only 0.05 BTC for 8 trading pairs.  There is a troll box where you can promote and tip and has been used effectively by some.  Overall, Unnamed Exchange is a great value!!

Cheers,

Oh, my bad. I knew about the existence of a such section in the Idena explorer, but for some reason I was sure of what I wrote above. My mistake. It means that the payment for listing on Hotbit was made from another source.

a no larger font is needed to read your message. Default is okay.

I don't think that listing on 3rd part exchange worth 0.05BTC. You are not a company, just private and anonymous service handled by one or two people. There is no guarantee that you will operate more than a month or two.

Trading volume is very low even though the listing fee is quite expensive in my opinion around 0.05 BTC, I think idena will be listing on some major exchanges as well as other in the near future, please go to their telegram group to offer this, looks like it will be difficult to get them to want to be listed on a small exchange

..

How is that possible? How can a bot solve the flips?

artificial intelligence is very advanced, there are many services they offer captcha solving for cheap money. I am not surprised.
Even if that, I am surprised how scammers they always find a way to cheat. they expend a lot of energy and knowledge to create a whole system of fraud. if they spent that energy on something real, they would probably make maybe more money from there.

Nothing is official now. We need to wait for announcement. It could be anything. Price is quite stable considering such bad news. If thats not the end of IDENA (it could be) ... definitely its the bottom.

No official response yet.

I'd like to note there is currently NO evidence these nodes all belong to one person, there are other possible explanations, such as someone hiring others to solve/make flips for a cut (unknowing about Idena as a whole), scammers, etc. We will likely get an official response on the matter soon enough. I'm personally not too worried, since it's unlikely one person actually controls all these nodes and could cause any havoc at the current stage of things.

Not to mention they are clearly not too worried about this getting noticed, since they used the same Qtrade address repeatedly.

Edit: New client update appears it may have solved the issue. This post didn't age well D:

Yep. It appeared that it was FAR from AI/farm attack I'm more than happy that it ended that way. Looks like easy fix was enough to solve problem. It doesn't change the fact that is was worth to pass it here. People should know what happened before next validation because I still see risks. For example during next validation we may have 2100-3500 toxic flips, 700 toxic nodes voting on flips. I would really consider killing my node if I was suspended/zombie.

Full announcement:

"A new version of the Idena app is available: 0.18.0

Changes:
- A critical vulnerability fix in the flip randomization algorithm. The vulnerability enabled an attacker to identify the right answer of a flip without solving it, with a high probability.

We will monitor the situation. The vulnerability report will be published after the upcoming validation ceremony.

Please update your Idena app (https://idena.io/?view=download).

🚨 The update is required for a successful validation.

Please submit new flips using the new app version only."

You did good passing this in here, I'm not a fan of Telegram.
I really appreciate your time spent in this thread @Tytanowy Janusz. I now just need to update my client before submitting new flips.

Btw, anyone knows why my node is closing 3-4 times a day after the latest update 0.23.1, in the log file, nothing appears. Thanks!

The above details must have been the issue.  It's already added to more exchanges, it started good but the price was dumped hard after its AMA on vite.net.  Good job Andrew. Where else will you be trying IDNA to be added?

I thought I could profit but was just not making it good after lol anyway, I hope it can take back with profit with this project.

@realRioda really? Community dev figure THIS out? You know what it is? It is 700 node farm depositing to 1 qtrade deposit address fallowed by 1 withdrawal from vgate to qtrade. Thats all. Why single withdrawal from vgate to qtrade solve 700 node farm? Why would real dev implement "A critical vulnerability fix" to solve something that does not need to be solved? If vgate connects this nodes... how to manage your clients founds when you don't know which deposit is whose (~60 transfers from different nodes to 1 address)? Someone should ask himself at least 1 of these questions before calling "problem solved" and posting it here and on telegram.

Its not vgate adress - problem solved. There was serious vulnerability that was fixed in time. I hope that next validation will sort abuser out without affecting healthy nodes and we will be able to forget about this in 2-3 epochs. Price holded very strong. No dump even thou telegram chat was on fire for whole day. Strong supports right where spot price is. I'm bullish and calm about IDENA.

If vgate connects this nodes... how to manage your clients founds when you don't know which deposit is whose (~60 transfers from different nodes to 1 address)?
so 700 nodes with 1 roof, why fuss about that unnecessary, I am still confused about what would be the problem if indeed all of the 700 nodes were done by each person not a robot, so maybe many people came to make FUD to buy it cheap

So I guess without the bots/fake account, the network may have shrunk over the last couple epochs. That is a little concerning, but I am glad we have figured out a fix now.
