I'd love it if a child board of Scam Accusations could be created that handles accusations against Altcoin/Token teams, campaigns, etc. The main reason I'm suggesting this is because the whole board is just a sea of accusations about bounty campaigns, scamcoins, shilling in Altcoin sections, etc now and it's really a pain to wade through and find anything that is related to scamming in the Bitcoin ecosystem.

It would be nice if the Scam Accusations board could return to what it was before - investigating scammy Bitcoin projects, dodgy Bitcointalk members, and so on and so forth, rather than just a sea of "this bounty campaign didn't pay out" and "this altcoin team uses alts to bump their own threads".

Not sure whether putting it under S.A. would be better or putting it under one of the Altcoin boards as a child board would be better.

After a quick skim, I'm not so sure the volume of altcoin accusations is that high. Especially if you consider the level of effort between typical scams that get threads vs. tokens/coins.

Either under S.A. or an Altcoin board would be fine, I'm not particularly fussed.

I did a quick skim-count of the front page of S.A. and at least 15 threads on the front-page are altcoin/bounty related. It's probably more as I did not bother to do a full check. The problem is also that due to the nature of bounty campaigns and the large amount of people who participate in them, threads on those topics get bumped constantly and bury other people's scam accusations. Separating this into two boards would be cleaner, and probably also allow people who participate in bounty campaigns regularly to get a better idea of what's a scam and what isn't.

There's definitely quite a few altcoin related scam accusations in the main Bitcoin scam accusation thread, and we definitely get accusations within the Altcoin Discussion section. I wouldn't be against creating a section for Altcoin related scam accusations. It might help with better organization of the whole section, honestly.

Propose it to theymos via PM - he's the one who decides whether a new board should be created. Do note that there has to be enough recent scam accusations to fill at least a few pages:

As with all sub-forum requests, I'm gonna ask a question - how many topics about Satoshi altcoin scams are currently on the first 3 or so pages of any board? Or on several boards combined? If there aren't enough topics (at least 20 on the frontpage and around 10 on later pages in my experience) to fill a board (meaning such topics do not dominate the discussion sphere of an existing board), what's the point of making a new section that'll be dead on arrival.

Might have to link the aforementioned topics as well.

If you do opt to send theymos a PM then here's just some altcoin related threads on the 1st page of the main Bitcoin scam accusation section (at the time of post):

Some are related to plagiarism, but I think relative enough for opening a scam accusation against a project. Judging by the first page of that section you could probably get 50+ posts in the first 5 pages, when including the altcoin discussion section too.

I sent a PM off to theymos about the proposal as you suggested. I linked 43 topics from the first 3 pages of the Scam Accusations board which were Altcoin or Token related - I think that's definitely a fairly high number as the third page only stretches back to the 14th of October right now, so I think that shows a new board could be filled relatively quickly.

Imo, at least 50% of the accusations in scam accusation board are related to the altcoins and last few months the number increased significantly with scam ICOs (Plagiarized wp, fake team, bounty etc). It won't be a bad thing to create a child board within the scam accusation board.

I would agree with this suggestion, and I always wondered why scam accusation was not there in first place...
Only thing is what about all scam altcoin topics that are now in original SA topic?

It would take quite a while but I'm sure it would be worked through eventually. I definitely would spend time going through and reporting any that need to be moved if a new S.A. (Altcoins) board is created to help with catching any ones that get missed.

I don't think we should let ourselves be swayed by the fact that it's a big task - it's only going to get bigger over time!

A few individuals stepping up, and a moderator with jurisdiction would be all that is needed. Potentially, giving a staff member temporary moderator permission within the section, and having them dedicate a day to moving everything out, and dealing with reports so that Cyrus can get on with more important things. I'd be willing to report any posts that I can't move out.

I think a day of some hard dedicated work would get it sorted. It'll be nice to better organize the Altcoin section, and I think the users who only care about Bitcoin would appreciate it too.

Such a board would be awesome as I have a big list of altcoins that I want to expose even if they are new or old. Whenever I have extra free time I browse projects , go on discord and ask questions , go on telegram and ask question , verify whitepapers in order to catch them. Further more , there are some active projects that are still around despite the fact that investors lost 99% of the money and guess what ? They ask for more money in order to continue the project , isn't that shady ? I think it is!

Bistake, Razor , Rupaya, D4rkPay , Breakout gaming , HarmonyCoin , ParkApp, Screwdriver ,  Galactrum and a lot more coming even from bounty campaigns.

Bump. I still think that this would be a really good addition and I'd like to gather more feedback / community consensus to make a stronger case for this child board to be created. Having a glance at the S.A. board right now, the problem of there being a ton of altcoin/token-focused scam accusations still persists.

Before trading or otherwise trusting someone, you should search their username in SA to try to gauge if they might have tried to scam before.

I wonder how many people would think to check both SA and altcoin SA before entrusting someone.

I agree with the idea.
The "Scam Accusations" is the child board of "Trading Discussion". At bottom of the name of the board it is written that "Discussion about doing business with Bitcoin."
I guess there are many newbies interested in ICOs/IEOs, but never visit "Scam Accusations". Because they think it is not needed as they are not trader.

You are aware that we have a Trust system for a reason, right? The whole idea is that if someone has tried to scam before, they would be left negative feedback - I'm struggling to think of a situation where there would be an active or confirmed scam accusation against someone where they wouldn't have neutral or negative feedback on their profile warning about it.

There's no need to be scouring the forum for negative posts about someone before you make a deal with them.
