Hi all

First post here on the forum Smiley

My wife made an account on Binance, made a deposit with her credit card, and then transferred 0.05BTC to a guy. That’s the only thing she have used the account for.
Now I’m going to receive some BTC on my wife’s Binance account, and he is asking for my name, but as told it’s not the same a on the Binance account.

The question is, are there some way that he can see what name the account was made in?

Have a great day

No, there's no way for the guy to see the name of your Binance account. Bitcoin addresses doesn't have any name attach to it.

Something's fishy here, just don't give your name to that guy, just your Binance deposit address, as he might be up to something not good with your account.

I dont think there is a way for another user (the guy who received 0.05BTC) to find out your name since the funds will arrive to his wallet with only a BTC address as a clue. Unless you posted your BTC address somewhere and claimed that its yours. Even if stake your BTC address here, it will not point directly to you because here we use usernames and not our real names and again unless you posted here or somewhere a link between you and your username.

That's impossible unless you give it to him or the Binance itself give it to him. Bitcoin although can be tracked, your information is still anonymous in using it because it's decntralized and the location of sender or receiver can't be traced too. If you don't know that guy, don't give your real information to him because his intention could be negative against you.

Keeping our security as an anonymous to other people will always be a safe ways to handle things over when trading at any exchanges. Sometimes it sounded too shady if somebody required you to give full identication from you when sending crypto amounts. What's important is the address itself, and don't care of any legit identity to be provided to recipients because possible breaching of personal data will tend to happen.

No one can find out your binance account's name other than the exchange officials all you need to give is your bitcoin deposit address and ask him to send bitcoins to your address. But banks know you made transaction with her credit card into binance trading and also binance knows that while others have no clue to find that.

A lot of people will almost have same answer. Because no one can know our username except the site's admin or maybe if we tell other people what is our account. For OP maybe a lot of people who said same answer, will make him understand and maybe for case that send BTC to the guy can be something suspicious or maybe that man said that because not want  to payback his money. People who use credit card to buy bitcoin in an exchange and send to other people must be have a reason.

I would suggest that before having personal transactions to that person you don't know personally, both parties must meet each other upon having payment transaction. Nowadays, we should be more vigilant and don't ever trust those guys you've know virtually. Avoid digital sending without having an assurance.

Why would the "guy" ask for the name?
If it is a representative from Binance then your privacy in terms of your identity is somehow safe, not that I don't trust exchanges due to their KYC policies.
Technically you're not that known in your name in Binance as the information kept there is safe, even though I heard that there was an information leak that happened previously but no they won't know your name and it is for verification purposes.

Bitcoin has nothing to do with your anonymity at this point. There are some ways of course and it includes: He works in binance and has access to some serious things and second - he has someone who works in binance with access on needed things.
Otherwise bitcoin has nothing to do with your name.
And please can you clarify who is asking for your name? The guy which was deposited by your wife? Or absolutely different person? If he is asking, then just ignore that question, all he needs is your wallet adress to send bitcoins.
So chill out, he can't see real full name of your account.

Who is the person that is asking for your name, the same person your wife sent the 0.05BTC? Or just someone else? I don't see why anyone should be asking for your name to send money to you, BTC doesn't work that way.

If you want to do transaction with BTC all you need is just the wallet address and nothing else. If you are the one receiving, you just have to copy your wallet address and send it to the person that's sending the money to you and they will copy-paste it to send. But, then asking for your name? I don't see the reason why they should. You should be very careful and not make the mistake of even sending the private keys to them, because if you do that they are just going to have access to your wallet and steal every money in it. So, be careful man.

If you/your wife has done higher level KYC at Binance then Binance will know your name and details but no one else will get that information as Binance would never share them. Also the popular question which everyone asked, "Why the need of a Name" in crypto transfer.?

Why is he asking for your name? If he is going to send you some bitcoins, all he needs is your wallet address, nothing else.
My guess is that you are using a service that requires KYC! Even if this is the case, you have the right to withdraw to any address you want... be it your wife's address or anyone else's.
I don't recommend using platforms that require KYC though.

Anyway, the short answer to your question: if you are going to give them your wife's address, it's unlikely that they will be able to link it to her name.

Why don't you create your own binance account or use a desktop wallet to receive the payment?!

as far as I know, you can't know the person's name. However, I think it's someone's privacy, so all you can do is ask for his name. but in conducting transactions at the exchanger, the name is not so important. but, if he has a connection with the exchanger team concerned, he might have the chance to find out his real name by looking at his KYC.
