Gizlilik ve ölçeklenebilirlik sorunlarının azaltılmasını hedefleyerek 2018 yılında Gregory Maxwell ortaya atılan Taproot güncellemesi devreye girebilmesi için gerekli olan %90 madenci kabulünün (2016 blokta 1815 kabul) üzerine çıkmayı başardı. Güncel durumda 1842 pozitif, 32 negatif ve 142 adet onaylanmayı bekleyen blok var. Muhtemelen ~%98 oranla süreç tamamlanacak. Devreye girecek olması biraz zaman alacak olsa da en önemli aşamalardan birisi yüksek madenci onayıyla tamamlanmış oldu.
