Hey, I just want to verify when it is not allowed to start a topic in the Press sub containing an old news.
For example those two topics 1 & 2 are created 13 & 14 February while the news there were dating from 2 & 3 February.
Ok maybe it doesn't seem old enough to be reported as irrelevant but since it is not frequent to find this, I want to know after how much time should those kind of topics been reported. Without a limit everyone could start creating topics about old events in the Press sub. You can post about 2013 ATH for example but in the bitcoin discussion as a discussion to understand more or whatever you want but this should not be a news in Press sub. I think myself that reporting news that is not old than 2-4 days in this sub is normal.

Hey, I just want to verify when it is not allowed to start a topic in the Press sub containing an old news.
I assume it would depend on factors like:
• Is the news still relevant,
• Has it been posted by someone else already,
• Is it notable enough to require a thread on the forum.

I think myself that reporting news that is not old than 2-4 days in this sub is normal.
There's no full guide to reporting posts. If you feel a post is irrelevant you can always pass it on to the mods, with your reasons and they will take action if they agree with you.

That first thread should just be trashed, full stop.

Copy-pasting three sentences and then linking the image and source is not something that I would call "substance".
Older news is more difficult to add relevance: press threads should ideally have some nuance in their OP with a foundation of discussion rather than an affront to your ability to use a search engine.

In my eyes, a month seems like the maximum: that's my guideline for (most) necrobumps on the forum, so if we simply take it up one layer and apply it to thread creation as a follow-up to the external discussion, it seems about right.

I agree with Upgrade00's points, especially the second one where it's essential to consider whether the news has already been reported by someone else in the past. Something as old as 5, 10, or 20 days isn't old if nobody knows about it or has discussed it. If we have arrived at the point of that information being general knowledge already, I would say posting it in the press section isn't recommended. Opening a thread about Bitcoin adopting SegWit makes no sense for example.

The Croatian Post Office has made it possible to buy and sell bitcoin through their offices. This is already old news in Croatia, but if it wasn't covered that much in crypto media and nobody brought it up in the press section, it would still be relevant today. I doubt people from all over the world know you can walk in to a Croatian post office and exchange fiat for bitcoin, but everyone knows about SegWit.
