Considering that the governments such as China have already tried to ban Cryptos. Would more governments do the same because Cryptos threaten the banks or the governments may want more control over what people use as currency and to remove all alternatives? What do you guys think, I personally think it won’t happen, but you might think otherwise.

It's too early to say something like that.
Even if there are more countries would decide to ban crypto, there are still some chances that their decision will change as time passes by.
It is impossible to control crypto but it is also impossible to ban it in the whole world.

I mean even if they want to ban it they won't be able to or it is very hard and requires a lot of resources, the way the crypto transactions are made is that you can't tell where the money is going or for what it is used for, therefore governments can't tell if the location of transactions, even if they ip block the cryto sites there is always still place for vpn and other ways to bypass it, so i don't think that there will be a point where they put things into actions if they ban it.

China is a powerful country, capable of doing anything, they have tried but unfortunately, they are not successful, some government can try to ban, some governments can ban it but not permanently because every country is now adopting it and country that ban will have no choice but to let it, government come and go but this technology is going to withstand, every government effort.

There is no reason for that not to happen. But they do not do that. On the contrary, governments themselves know that this is useful. Look back, if they wanted it they would have already banned. But, we have not always encountered a world that opposes it completely. It is like they play with this theme. Do not worry about it, they are not stupid enough to do that.

There must be a country that will ban it but not all , since i saw some of the countries accepting it already as alternative to fiat and there are country that has  many option to use your bitcoin such as buying and selling things or use that to pay your bills online.

I was also worried about that in my country, thinking I would be arrested and punished for holding the crypto currency and my country banned it, but apparently it never happened, we saw and realized that technology is getting better and now we have entered the world modern technology so people who might ban cryptocurrencies, like people who miss technology, are getting more and more sophisticated, especially China, I don't think that's possible

China hasn't banned crypto rather banned crypto exchanges.
One thing is very clear that governments dont like crypto and if crypto adoption continuous government reaction will be strict regulation or ban.

Governments have tried but still failed, you cannot control the internet, you can only block it. Blocking the internet will take that nation back to the 19th century. Crypto economic is a internet based economic, so the best option for them is to regulate it. Being said that governments have also tried to regulate it and they failed there to. Thus the best option is to adapt it.

crypto is the technology of the future that cannot be avoided, maybe if all countries work together to eradicate bitcoin and provide heavy sanctions for its holders, will definitely stop the development of bitcoin but still can't stop it completely.

This topic has been discussed so many times here in the forum and even I saw repeatedly asking this question, the answer is NO.

On my own, governments are afraid to destroy the state’s monopoly on monetary policy in every country. Just like China, they are thinking bitcoin is like a snake that someday that will eventually bite them. But not all thinking in this way, there are some countries are friendly of crypto or in Bitcoin. How many times they are attempted to ban Bitcoin, it ends up failure and besides, they are now adopting blockchain technology.

I'm not advertising this article but the content of this explained very well why governments can't be banned Bitcoin.

Bitcoin cannot be completely banned, what governments can do is declare it illegal, shut down every crypto exchange and mining farm. People would still use it, but as something illegal, at the world level, it would be pretty insignificant.

The fact is that most world governments still do not consider Bitcoin a threat, it is very small market with total $150 billion currently (market cap - all mined coins), and compared to gold ($9 trillion), or maybe USA annual budget ($4.7 trillion) Bitcoin is as one US congressman says, just a small baby.

Considering that the governments such as China have already tried to ban Cryptos. Would more governments do the same because Cryptos threaten the banks or the governments may want more control over what people use as currency and to remove all alternatives? What do you guys think, I personally think it won’t happen, but you might think otherwise.

Few governments will certainly try to do that! Especially those countries which are ruled by fascist governments. However, eventually they will realize that it's impossible to achieve a blanket ban on cryptos and then probably they will try to provide a legal framework around this and also impose heavy taxes to discourage people from using it!

On the other hand, we will also see few governments with progressive mindsets adopting it for the betterment of their own economy!

So we won't see such scenario where bitcoin will be completely banned from the face of the earth!

Even I don't think governments can ever ban bitcoin or crypto in general because they don't have any control over bitcoin and moreover they can just instill fear in the user's mind by applying some sort of restrictions or monitoring users in case if they want to stop crypto transactions in their country but they cannot completely stop crypto even if they instill fear.

There are most governments who have already accepted bitcoins and have seemingly regulated it so that no one uses it to launder money and evade taxes so I don't think they are going to go back on all that and then suddenly decide to ban cryptocurrencies especially when they are able to get some tax proceeds from it.

Probably some government but not all. Because not all governments would agree to crypto, especially bitcoin who is decentralized. Those governments who see bitcoin and crypto as a threat or as a hindrance for them in ruling their people financially. It depends on the government's stand about crypto. Those countries are likely to be the one who doesn't give much financial freedom to their citizens. Right now, some countries have already put some regulations with crypto

Yes and no.

Like these factors, we always have to consider the worst possible scenario that could happen in cryptocurrencies. The government may actually prohibit the usage of such in the future but no one can really know. All that we can infer is that its decentralization is one of the main factor on why the government fears its utilization since they cannot control nor regulate its transcations due to being untraceable.

I also think that one of the reasons on why the government has not considered on totally prohibiting cryptocurrencies is its benefit to the economy. More money is always good for the country albeit the origin may came from an unregulated source.

Considering that the governments such as China have already tried to ban Cryptos. Would more governments do the same because Cryptos threaten the banks or the governments may want more control over what people use as currency and to remove all alternatives? What do you guys think, I personally think it won’t happen, but you might think otherwise.

They could possibly ban cryptocurrency in their own country.
But as we know they cannot restrict the community in using it, the community has full access to the internet and it is almost impossible to restrict them from using the internet.
We could easily use a VPN to access the cryptocurrency website and use it easily.
In my opinion, they will not do this cryptocurrency and bitcoin is one of their best assets in a lot of companies and helps in our economic growth.

Probably not ban but it is more of a regulating bitcoins. A countries' government would like to fully monitor the exchange done with bitcoins same with money and the likes.

Believe me.. after all these big institutional entities like Bakkt, CMEs, etc. properly set up the financial infrastructure for Bitcoin there will be very low chances that BTC will ever be banned especially in the countries where Bitcoin is transacted on a big scale. As we can see now some governments did ban crypto, but they lifted it up once they've seen the potential and that it was a bad decision.

As BTC provides a grade of anonimity it will still be used especially in the "underworld" if it gets banned. It is still a store-of-value. Just think what would happen if Gold would be banned? Would we stop using it? Of course not..

Banning Cryptocurrencies is easier said than done. The traditional governments have their far fetched reaches only upto the banking and traditional financial system. They are not capable to shut down any technology. Which means even if government prohibits Cryptocurrencies it's almost impossible for them to stop it's transmission because it would still spread like weed is being spread today. This could make thing even worse for governments as most of the illegal money would flow in this mode and no one would be able to do anything about it. I think instead governments must try some other regulatory approach because this really is going to leave them out of business sooner or later.

Bitcoin or let's say cryptocurrency is being viewed by the government as a threat for people's security and money. So me personally I'm not gonna be shocked if one day I saw some news about crypto ban in my country or even in a different country.

I also think the same way because I know that government is also powerful enough and they probably capable on doing it but I keep on reminding myself that as long as there are people who believe and supports crypto then it can be one of the reason why it will be difficult for them to do it. Governments have differences in their way of thinking maybe some of them can see the potentialities and capabilities of crypto and some are not, it will make you realize that is quite possible that their decision making can influence others or they just got influence that is why they end up on doing it too.

It's not possible since they already taking advantage of the cryptocurrency underground and i think that they also bought a lot of bitcoin plus the added seized bitcoin. And maybe if they sell the bitcoin their holding then they can use the funds and make a technology to destroy bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

And we know that governement are hiding secrets from us and making their moves by little by little to control us.

Its the only possible way they can control the cryptocurrencies and by banning it they can then monitor which the exchanges and the people like us who had been in crypto for years. The chances of them doing these again may be 50% this time though, its been regulated already where we can now see institutions claiming they have invested to BTC and there is also BAKKT. There are several government adopting BTC as well which maybe the rest will also join.

Hasn't China legalized crypto law? from some sources I read such as the Cointelegraph and other trusted sources of the China government, in particular, the President of China has endorsed crypto law with the aim of taking advantage of blockchain technology. I read at Cointelegraph a note that the draft law was published on May 7 by a Chinese news outlet. But it is undeniable that rumors previously did China forbid crypto for security reasons, but that does not mean that other developed countries think the same, I guess.

I think cryptocurrency is not yet strong enough to undermine people's confidence in the bank. And I think the possibility of banning crypto and the worsening scam that is going on and if not prevented is that the government can act especially when people are losing money. And because bitcoin and other crypto are out of control, the government can prevent people from using crypto.

Have you not read the news yet? china is already adopting blockchain as well as crypto currency. do you think they can banned it now? in a past years that they want to remove cryptocurrency they didn't success, because crypto is already rooted. every huge company is going to accepts crypto. and china or even other country will gonna saw this kind of uses. thats why china is moving now to take part in crypto. so there are no high threat of cryptocurrency to ban for now. let's be positive for this out come that others will do the same as china.

It's already happening now, there's a massive banning of cryptocurrency in some countries because it literally affects the economy. But there are countries that need a lot of requirements before allowing cryptocurrency like the US. the U.S. In 2013, they defined Bitcoin as a virtual currency distributed convertible.
Quote
If money services businesses, including cryptocurrency exchanges, money transmitters, and anonymizing services (known as "mixers" or "tumblers") do a substantial amount of business in the U.S., they are required to

register with the U.S.FinCEN as a money services business
design and enforce an anti-money laundering (AML) program, and
keep appropriate records and make reports to FinCEN, including Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs)[29]

Also in Colombia, they did not allow cryptocurrency. The Financiera Superintendencia warned financial institutions not to "secure, invest, broker, or control virtual money operations". So most of the finance department is the one who contradicts the use of bitcoin in any countries which means, it really affects the flow and stock market in the economy.

Some countries that are still not feeling the change would likely try and ban cryptocurrencies, but since most are already heading towards digital payments and transactions are mostly done online, I don't think there'd be a single country that would like to ban cryptos anymore. They might capitalize on it and instead create their own cryptocurrencies for easier minting of coins and reduce the number of production costs for physical money creation. China reverted from banning and instead went on to just utilize the blockchain since they saw that they could become the number one country for enforcing changes and whatnot of their liking, and it's already a clear indication that they want to be ahead of things more than anyone else in the space right now.

The truth of the matter is this friend, there are way too many important people and organizations who have their fair share and stake within cryptocurrency. Do you think banning Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies alike will stop a giant like Mark Zuckerberg and the Face book regime from launching their famed Libra project? Too much money is on the line, people who have huge stakes would lobby against the ban and it would be very stifling to the technological innovation that it is to just go and outright ban it. Even smaller countries are considering integrating crypto into their economy.

Governments have difference of opinion upon cryptocurrency, which means some countries recognize the usage of cryptocurrency understanding the need for the development in economy. Even the countries that were against cryptocurrency usage have begun to accept and adopt cryptocurrency taking away the ban imposed long back.

The biggest fear upon cryptocurrency usage is the illegal usage and the decentralized way of usage where governments doesn't have any control. This means governments will think of the taxation, which too can't be done in a perfect way. Changes will happen with time, and governments will get adopted to it in the future.

How has the ban in China been? Effective or not?
Removing all alternatives to fiat will likely lead to something else the governments would have to spend another long years fighting. I think censorship resistant/anonymity of fiat currencies is one of the main reasons people aren't embracing cryptocurrency yet or inventing physical alternatives to fiat.

That is why we must know the rules set by the government in responding to cryptocurrency. Thus we can determine strategic steps so that we can still benefit from cryptocurrency. Although it has the opportunity to be used for illegal activities, cryptocurrency also offers many advantages as a potential investment and a promising commodity trade, although high risk. Cryptocurrency is also one form of technological development that is very useful. That is why most governments provide certain restrictions and rules. With such great potential, the opportunity for cryptocurrency in absolute ban throughout the world is very small.

Considering that the governments such as China have already tried to ban Cryptos.

You must know that many countries have tried to ban crypto so far but crypto still continues its existence. It means we don't need to be so afraid, crypto has proven its power to survive. Currently, crypto adoption is improving quite well, I believe more countries to consider legalizing it.

I personally think it won’t happen,

Nah, you have answered it yourself but I don't see the reasons. Now, please explain it to us? It will be fair if you also try to answer briefly.  Wink

But they didn't end up doing that, which I'm glad for.

Somehow I doubt any of the bigger countries would ban bitcoin outright, but they might very well put some regulations in place and that has in fact happened somewhat.  I would think that if any country were to ban it, it would be one of the third world countries whose local currency and maybe even the gov't leadership itself might be threatened by bitcoin.

But anything could happen.  Either way, tho, bitcoin would probably still survive as a form of money used in dark markets.  That could only happen with a worldwide ban and I doubt that's going to be the case.  Bitcoin does have a lot of supporters who would be outraged at politicians and hopefully would make a lot of noise if their gov't tried to pass laws like that.

Governments with their executive system can do this fairly quickly. But I think that this is just such a case when it is more convenient and easier to lead the process than to conduct an implacable struggle with this process. Or as an option to keep all this in limbo by observing how governments of other countries regulate similar issues.

it could happen, no one knows the future, not even forbidding it, it could be that the government makes rules even tighter than that. so we must use bitcoin as well as possible, do not use it to commit crime and crime. !!

It is quite not that easy to ban cryptocurrency. Because banning cryptocurrency is creating too much restriction not just for the people, but to the internet, and that is too hard for the government to regulate. If they are to ban cryptocurrency, their step is to stop supporting local exchange in providing support for cryptocurrency holders. In this case, they might be discouraged in crypto. But in terms of what we usually think of not allowing sites that are associated in crypto would be impossible.

It is too late for governments to ban the use of crypto totally. Looking at the market cap and market volume of the total cryptocurrencies in the crypto market, it will be very difficult to collapse or ban the use of cryptocurrency. The crypto market keeps growing as day pass by, indicating that new users are getting in this space very blessed day. The governments who do not really agree with the idea of decentralization should just accept and try to understand the benefits cryptocurrency present to the entire financial space.

When bitcoin and crypto never got scam many people I think no country want to banned bitcoin as investment assets, they still trust with bitcoin become profitable assets for the future because many investor have raise profit with bitcoin, maybe later many feature with bitcoin by adopting as currency payment and make country friendly want to adopt bitcoin as legal transaction payment.

It will not. The nearer we are in the future, the more accepted cryptocurrencies will be. Even the governments will one day accept cryptocurrencies. Not only will these governments be accepting cryptocurrencies, they will also be using cryptocurrencies as their main national currency. Fiat currency will be replaced with a digital money. But let us not base our prediction for the future on China. The European and American countries are more technologically advanced on this aspect.

It's true that Most of the government and Countries are facing a crisis about the Cryptocurrency issues, But they are not worried about the Blockchain system because, in recent time, China has declared that Blockchain system is healthy for the further invention, it would encourage for the next generation to more inventive, so some countries and Organization are trying to link up with the Blockchain system for their own purpose, but it's also true they are trying to take the lead of this platform, not only that but also Some Countries don't permit to run on their territory, but nothing will happen, Cryptocurrency will sustain for a long time and it will dominate in the future world.

First, Cryptocurrency cannot be controlled by anyone not even the governments. So, how do you think banning would actually be possible?
Second, China has banned crypto exchange and attempted to ban every mining farm in the country. Did they succeeded in getting rid of the Cryptocurrency trend? No, Instead they are on their way of making one.

The only thing that the government is against of about cryptocurrency is the fact that they cannot easily tax every income an investor would earn in every single transaction he made in crypto space. Banks now aren't afraid of Bitcoin anymore, as they already found a way to monetize them.
So, to sum it up, what the OP suggest will never going to happen.

It is much better to be optimistic instead of thinking the other way, blockchain is getting known and adoptions to this system will also bring encouragement to people who loves innovations. Crypto which base from this technology will also attract people who will start using blockchain.
Government have their own stand regarding to this matter, the only thing that they wanted is to make sure things will be favorable to them.

What do you guys think, I personally think it won’t happen, but you might think otherwise.

I think that time will come when governments will start to banned cryptocurrency because a lot of governments in other countries notices that scams are mostly related to bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, that is why countries like China banned bitcoin mining due to scams. But i think there are less chances that bitcoin will not be banned all over the world because a lot of people know that bitcoin is not really full of illegal activities such as scams and fraud.

Sometimes it already happens nowadays in different countries. The governments forbid partly or for some period, or even try to limit the usage of crypto, or just to regulate and keep under control. To my mind it will be always like that from time to time. But I do not think that governments would be able to forbid crypto totally or to ban it at all...it would be too complicated))))

Wouldn't be surprised to see a country like China ban Bitcoin. Their financial institutions are tightly regulated and their GDP is already inflated. Their economy could not handle Bitcoin coming in and taking away monetary transactions from their banks. I doubt developed countries like US/Canada or European countries could ever ban Bitcoin. Their economies are diverse enough to not have to compete with a decentralized currency. The only regulation short of an outright ban would be tax regulation and that already exists in the US anyways.

haha this is pretty epic isn't it?

to retract their own statement because they realized what they did to ban crypto was completely wrong , such a smart ass clown lol. china always act and respond things in extreme way well that is the consequence to eat your own words.
there is a lot of country around the globe indeed trying to ban cryptocurrency , it did not work out well most of the times , instead bothering to do that useless attempt they making different approach by adopting/creating crypto-based projects , wonderful isn't it?

haha this world is mad , too much lies hypocrite government.

We really don't know what is happening beyond our country and we are just relying on crypto news, most of the time, the news is positive for them to hype people and to look like everyone is in favor with crypto. But as of the moment, here in our county, I don't have any worries or no doubt at all that they will ban crypto, as I know that our government is open for this kind of opportunity.

There is no more ban will happen from the government anymore. Btc has a very huge help for the economic growth of a country and china did not realize it before but now they do realize it already. What china did will be serve as a lesson for every nation who will try to ban cryptocurrency. Btc will change the financial status of everyone.

It is very difficult to make all countries in the world accept cryptocurrency, because there must be countries that oppose the existence
of crypto. As we know cryptocurrency cannot be controlled by anyone, making the government dislike it. Therefore, i am sure there must
be a country that bans crypto, but not all countries will ban crypto. And I also believe in the future of technological development digital will
be increasingly rapid, and inevitably all sectors including the financial sector must move to all digital. If that happens the government is
forced to adopt crypto in order to keep up with technological developments, indeed today we as supporters crypto must be patient until
that happens.

The government will not be able to completely ban bitcoin or crypto and if warned to be more careful using cryptocurrency That's possible, because they think bitcoin or cryptocurrency has no formal basis and government authority, bitcoin tends to be misused for illegal transactions that negatively impact such as fraud, money laundering or other crime.
so in my opinion, the government cannot forbid it completely, and the government must also assess the good side of those who use bitcoin or cryptocurrency to help improve their financial and economic well-being and make their lives better, if the government explicitly prohibits whether they can replace the existence of positions crypto is good for the people because the existence of bitcoin or cryptocurrency can provide income for those who are unemployed and many good sides that must be considered by the government.

There is a high chance the authorities may ban anonymous transactions, as KYC will be obligatory for any transaction.

Governments are a real threat to cryptos, but I don't think that a ban would happen. Some countries have declared cryptos as a national threat while others have embraced it. Japan for instance and Germany have already recognised bitcoin as a currency, so they will not probably turn against cryptos in the near future. The US and China, on the other hand, are a powder barrel waiting to explode, as the moment cryptos threaten national sovereignty there will be measures put in place, and this could be devastating to cryptos.

There are already attempts, as you have stated, that governments try to ban or censor cryptocurrencies and blockchain-related activities, with the latter being less suppressed than the former. And even though they would implement a ban on it, people would surely still find ways to obtain cryptocurrencies, it's just that it would operate just like a black market of sorts. They could never totally ban cryptocurrencies, not today where alternatives are easy to access to restrictions such as using Virtual Private Networks and such.

Considering that the governments such as China have already tried to ban Cryptos. Would more governments do the same because Cryptos threaten the banks or the governments may want more control over what people use as currency and to remove all alternatives? What do you guys think, I personally think it won’t happen, but you might think otherwise.
For me I think it's possible, but it all depends on what purpose. Maybe when they see that a lot of people are trying to go into Bitcoin and since they will not be able to benefit from it, they will look for a way to terminate it so that people will go back to the system they have chosen for them. If there's one thing the government never wants to miss out on controlling, that would be finance, lol.

The government wants to have control and Bitcoin is not going to give them that. They can only regulate centralized exchanges ,but for exchanges that are decentralized, there are no ways for them to control those ones. And if companies should be using bitcoin they might be avoiding paying taxes and government wouldn't like that. So if things that are similar to that begins to happen they are going to fight against cryptocurrencies for sure.

I think it wont happen in the future. Cryptocurrencies and slowly accepting, for sure that in the future it will be more accepted and a lot of option can happen using bitcoin. Governments for sure will accept cryptocurrency and all over the world will know about it.

Of course yes maybe there would be still some country who will try to ban cryptocurrency because as many says thay crypto is a threat to the government and especially in the world banks. If this crypto continuously circulate in the world, the bank and the government will be hard to monitor the money inside and outside the country because of the anonymous of the crypto. That would be some of the reason that may happen just like what happen in China why they try to ban crypto into their country, but we still don't know what would be really happen if one day all of the government and country will starting to ban crypto.

A lot of countries such as China already have banned crypto due to increased of scams like ICO projects, that is why there are chances that government in other countries could continue to ban crypto if illegal activities like scams will increased.

I don't think that the governments might on day ban cryptocurrencies. Why? Because even them, can benefit from it economically. And also, the technology behind the good cryptocurrencies are something that we should look forward too. Just like the blockchain technology that can help us especially when it comes to security.

I don't think it will happen. Its not enough of a threat yet and besides anyone involved is not hurting anyone. They just using a currency they bought with their own currency. If you cant spend your own money on what you want to then what kind of world is this? That's like a slave world without free will and that will never work. There is too much interest vested into crypto to let the government take over.

maybe more precisely is to protect people in that country. The government banned crypto because the market and use of crypto is very free. cannot be monitored, there is no control from the government. so that it's easy in fraud, crime and crime. a threat to the bank, I think it doesn't really matter, because the bank has also started moving on the blockchain. the use of crypto currencies is unlimited. while countries have limits and rules. this is the reason being a country bans crypto

There are government that seeing cryptocurrencies as bad for their country and economy. I think it is because of money laundering and increasing of people who got scammed. Money launderinf and other cryptocurrency related crimes are factors why regulating it is really tough because there are law makers who are not favor to it.

The government banned crypto because the market and use of crypto is very free. cannot be monitored, there is no control from the government. so that it's easy in fraud, crime and crime. a threat to the bank, I think it doesn't really matter, because the bank has also started moving on the blockchain. the use of crypto currencies is unlimited. while countries have limits and rules. this is the reason being a country bans crypto

to protect ? no i dont think so .  i feel that they have other agenda on why they ban crypto but they are only using the word protect to avoid getting bashed  . it will still be useless even though banks move on blockchain or crypto but as soon as declare a nationwide ban on that country , you cant still be able to transact on those banks   . you and those banks that keeps on operating for cryptos will only be pusnished if ever you got caught by the police and guards that are assigned to detect crypto activities .

Do you think that governments might one day ban Cryptos?

Considering that the governments such as China have already tried to ban Cryptos. Would more governments do the same because Cryptos threaten the banks or the governments may want more control over what people use as currency and to remove all alternatives? What do you guys think, I personally think it won’t happen, but you might think otherwise.

Just the opposite quite frankly they can create their own and force people to use their version that they can use to track everything you do.

It will be obviously quite difficult for China to ban cryptos they had in the past threatened, clamped down exchanges ,tried to regulates it in a long run it fails, cryptos is decentralized and anonymous transactions feature makes it difficult for any imposition on it to stand, there are many alternative for the Chinese citizens to use cryptos despite the restrictions and ban on it thus banning it wouldn't have  any impact.

The governments might not ban people holding Cryptocurrencies. However buying and selling via banks might be banned like what happened in China. But i think people can use 3-rd currency to pass this.

The danger for that to happen has passed. Governments understood that they cannot fight it, so now they started embracing it. Some can already pay their taxes with Bitcoin, after all.

I don't think that banks and crypto would be agreeing with each other, but it still depends to some countries. My bank recognized Bitcoin and that's it. I can deposit Bitcoin to my bank account through 3rd party app.

Banks and crypto don't have to "agree", they (somewhat) compete each other after all. But in the same way a bank accepts USD and EUR, it may accept Bitcoin too (someday).
We are moving in that direction.

Since there are different ways to access ban websites now thru our modern technology that the only regulation they can make now is banning exchanges. Over all there are still way to earn and hold crypto or even visiting other countries once in a while to do transactions if it's ban in their own country as it is decentralised and nobody will know how much we're going to hold.

Government have limited control to ban the bitcoins. Infact they cannot ban it but only make it difficult for the people who want to access it. In few countries, the government have already declared illegal to deal in bitcoins and they put people in front of court of law if they found anyone using crypto. This is the maximum the government can do. People can still use crypto currencies without the government being aware of it.

They cannot ban it since, in every country, countrymen have different kinds of ways to access crypto-related websites without being known or seen even if it is restricted and monitored by the government.
I do agree to that, they can only put people on the court but they don't have enough evidence to accuse that person having an illegal transaction using bitcoin.

Government have power on their hand about how to make digital transaction currency allowed or not and have possibility to banned bitcoin, but when bitcoin have been popular and their investor keep use bitcoin maybe government will allow using bitcoin for their citizen and never banned bitcoin, when bitcoin have higher price government will interested with bitcoin.

What do you guys think, I personally think it won’t happen, but you might think otherwise.

This will only happened if government see the reason to banned crypto especially bitcoin.  Like Money laundering, Funding terorist, use to do illegal transactions like buying drugs, widespread scamming and many more.

So like China they banned bitcoin because of ICO that scam many people money,

China is the big population country even it's they strong position in crypto industry that's why they dominated in the whole crypto currency platform. Any government can ban Bitcoin to remove money laundering act and other a lot of illegal activities but how government can be remove all cryptocurrencies? They haven't such a power to remove all crypto currencies.

if they see a threat from crypto I think they have now banned it. China even has done some for the development of crypto such as making its own crypto. Facebook, Google, and other companies have challenged crypto, but they are back in favor of it because crypto is a much-needed development at the moment.
whether it will be banned or not, but until now support for crypto seems to be greater than that.

Maybe that's the reason why there are news speculating right now that China is banning crypto exchange, we don't know yet the real story unless they banned Binance, let's see if they can do this for Binance, so far, many people has been afraid with this kind of situation happening right now, so BNB price really drops a lot as people becomes panic with what happened to IDAX that is possible to happen in Binance.

Not at all, I'm not convinced that governments will ban Bitcoin. At least governments of western and developed countries will not do that. In fact I'm sure they are trying to find the way how to incorporate cryptocurrencies into society, economic and financial life of countries. That is not going to be easy, it will take the time, legal regulation and probably not all will agree on that but at the end we will not running conversations about Bitcoin ban anymore.

it could happen, depending on the people who use bitcoin in the future, if it is not used for crime it does not happen, but if it continues to be used to commit crimes, then it will be increasingly banned .. !!

even now there are governments that reject cryptocurrency. they do not understand the potential and benefits of crypto. they only know the negative side of crypto so they reject crypto. but I am optimistic that as more developed countries adopt blockchain and also accept crypto, I am sure that countries which previously rejected crypto will also accept crypto. I am sure in the future when people are used to digital currencies, cryptocurrency will be accepted in many countries.

when a lot of the people could face a monetary crisis then the government could have taken such type of step for the shake of their people, it's their own duty to protect their people from any crisis especially when the matter is money, Day by day Bitcoin and cryptocurrency system is getting difficult to make understand what's going on, it's becoming an unpredictable platform so far, That's why there is a chance to happen like that,  I think it's high time to protect cryptocurrency from any bad impact because, in the future, it will be worse than today.

It is already going to be a thing for germany as EU regulation is on the horizon.

You can see it from latest bitcointalk topics as well some interesting news site.
In fact it will bring even more users to the table and flurish Bitcoin even higher in such a way no more governments will want to ban it.

As for now we are already seeing positive signs of adoptation since governments are the ones taking actions and approving some bitcoin companies usages.

Nothing to see here

At first what i see is like that, government until now make rules only want to protect their citizen from scammer or maybe from investment that can cause they lose. But to make that scammers gone is almost impossible, because although we and people near us really secure with that scammers, other people or maybe new people that just in crypto and then think it is good way to earn profit, could possibly trapped into it.

We are hoping they not, because of those scammers in Crypto World Government and also the society thinks this is bad so that Government move to prevent those kind of problem, So if we want to help to grow more in Crypto World Prevent scaming Work hard Pray Harder.
And this should be understand by most people as we can't protect each other but our government can, so if ever government will restrict cryptos that is for our security and we should respect it, but so far that here in our country they don't restrict us then we are taking this as an advantage to let them know the importance of having crypto in our country and how it helps people.

From the states perspective, tactically it's much more preferably, if the general public believes as long as possible, that they could ban it at any moment. but they won't try to ban bitcoin, because they know they can't ban bitcoin. If they ban it and it doesn't work, which it won't, then the confidence to safeguard your capital in the ultimate off-shore tax-haven country "blockchain" increases exponentially. in my opinion weak governments will see it as a threat which you can already see with all those countries making it illegal.

it could happen, depending on the people who use bitcoin in the future, if it is not used for crime it does not happen, but if it continues to be used to commit crimes, then it will be increasingly banned .. !!
Crypto is a anonymous currency this mind set up in the bad people's that's why it will be use in the illegal ways it's very normal thing and it will be happen non-stop. Government finger crossed against in cryptocurrency regulation in many countries. I think crime will never stop which incidents are happen by using cryptocurrency.

Bitcoin might had a negative impact here in our country but the government has not reached to the point of banning it. Maybe because they can't really stop bitcoin from its popularity and that some of those big merchants are already into bitcoin acceptance. If the government will also try to ban bitcoin, its transactions will still continue even without the permission from the government.

China is the big population country even it's they strong position in crypto industry that's why they dominated in the whole crypto currency platform. Any government can ban Bitcoin to remove money laundering act and other a lot of illegal activities but how government can be remove all cryptocurrencies? They haven't such a power to remove all crypto currencies.
the government cannot remove it, but can still control transaction/trading activities on their state exchanges. If this is effective, then other countries will also do the same thing, in the end many traders finally want something that is safe and comfortable in relation to exchange and crypto media that are not banned by the government.

Well, you have already answered your question in your question. There's no way to stop the blockchain from existence. These two needs each others, both the bank and crypto. The adoption is going to happen but not everyone would want to save there money in crypto or banks. We all have reasons to choose wherever we want but the government seems to only think about themselves alone, sure there are people in the government that are fan of a coin.

So far now it's really impossible for the government to ban Bitcoin or crypto as it has been developing and innovating for a decade already and yet they allow this to evolve, so I think that most countries are open for this possibilities and adoption of cryptocurrencies especially in Asian countries wherein it is widely used and open in their country that they don't need to hide.

Right, as long they are not ban or maybe not allow their people to use bitcoin there is nothing that we should worry about. If must KYC, or maybe people who get the regulation and not allowed trade in some exchanges, maybe the other still accept it. At first sorry from me, because i am not from countries that prohibited to that some exchanges, maybe only give solution because nothing that we can do if about government regulation.

yes, strong countries like China and the United States are always trying to stop cryptocurrency but in fact they have not succeeded in stopping cryptocurrency. they prohibit crypto because they think crypto can threaten the sovereignty of their national currency.
now that crypto has developed rapidly it will be difficult to stop it and every year more and more countries are finally willing to accept cryptocurreny and blockchain technology. so in the future in my opinion there will be an increasing number of countries that accept crypptocurrency.

It is likely that both these countries ban the cryptocurrency as well as the projects concerning the development of cryptocurrency in their nation because they have a huge responsibility, they have too many people and they need to still have the control to maintain their country's economic stability. In the first place if we are on the side of the government we could understand their desire and feat for what cryptocurrency can bring to them.

There might be some countries that are against cryptocurrency, but the convenience, advantage, and opportunities that cryptocurrency has to weigh more than the downside or the fear of people bitcoin being used for illegal activities, scam, fraudulent acts, money laundering and etc. People and the government are always skeptical of qhat is new, not until everyone or the majority is pro against it. Just imagine how the internet or any other innovation started. Only a few are patronizing or even using it when it was first introduced to the mass, but now it has became a big or even part of our daily lives.

Since inception, there has always been the thought of governments banning crytos, but overtime, crytocurrencies has been seen to have gained more recognition by both individuals and certain groups at large. As far as this subject topic is concern, i don't think the ban on cryptos would be agreed upon by all governments; some will adopt it as an alternative means, while others might not.

I don't think they will ban cryptocurrency because of it's potential and the growth it may cause in a certain country but there are countries that already ban it and maybe because of the lack of knowledge on it, in my opinion, the government might support it or maybe they will regulate it because cryptocurrency is becoming a trend and becoming bigger and bigger than other countries that don't know about it in the past, now supports it and creates their own coins to support it.

I think It is possible if they see any uncontrollable growth and if the government will not benefit for its growth.
The government will most likely want to use its full potential for their own benefit. If they see that it is impossible for them to have crypto roll into their hands, it is possible to contradict its growth by banning and limiting its use especially into a certain country.

There is no such thing for the government to ban Cryptos, on the other hand they can tighten the clearer regulatory regulatory framework for Cryptos. In the future of technology, Cryptos is a strong breakthrough in the cryptocurrency industry, banning is not feasible for the present and the future.

Would more governments do the same because Cryptos threaten the banks or the governments may want more control over what people use as currency and to remove all alternatives? What do you guys think, I personally think it won’t happen, but you might think otherwise.

I think the government can ban bitcoin but it is not going to be easy in a lot of ways because it is like the internet cannot be banned completely,
they could only banned a lot of users to use it in their country but not they cannot take down bitcoin.
Also, bitcoin was not yet a threat in fiat money, fiat money, in my opinion, was already established and bitcoin is decentralized I cannot imagine a currency that is decentralized in a country it will not going to work it is better if bitcoin stays what it is today in my opinion.

Since China had already tried doing it, it is not impossible for other countries as well. Cryptocurrency can be a threat when a government wants the full power and control over people's assets. But for now, we can't be too sure about it since there's still a lot of people who doesn't know anything about crypto. We'll only know how will the government react towards crypto if crypto and bitcoin achieves more adoption

Many countries will want to do the same. I am sure of this, because countries are afraid of Cryptos and this is understandable, because accepting this state may lose power. Countries like China will not allow it.

In my country the altcoins are well known and very effective. It almost level as the banks. But the banks is not threaten about this. Instead they collaborate in processing the money. If you want to cash in you can use almost all banks with the altcoins. So i do not think that government will ban cryptos and instead make a way to reach there goals, to provide money in easiest way.

There are many speculations about that government will ban cryptos. Well, I guess some may do it. But for those countries where cryptos had been part of their economic stability they will not do it. Basically, it depends on how it affected in each an every country. Mostly I guess will adopt it rather than ban it.

Right now it seems there is a purge in Bitcoin Twitter accounts, like the one we've seen back in the beginning of 2018.

It looks that Jack is really enjoying hold Bitcoin so much that does not want people promoting it in his own platform.

now that crypto has developed rapidly it will be difficult to stop it and every year more and more countries are finally willing to accept cryptocurreny and blockchain technology. so in the future in my opinion there will be an increasing number of countries that accept crypptocurrency.
Well, the government of the country has always thought that a crypto ban could restrict people from completely using crypto but very clearly, this ban came too late and when it came out, crypto became a fairly common area on social networks and online systems, users are too knowledgeable about crypto and know it is unstoppable. It all made the ban on crypto meaningless, a lot of countries like China and the United States want to ban but they have begun to get discouraged, perhaps in the near future they will be willing to accept crypto as we wish.

Only centralized coins will the government have the power to stop it, they is no way they can stop bitcoin since its not centralized no one controls bitcoin
that is why they are so eager to have  a teeth for digital currency to control it those who follow the government will have a big issue in the future because
the government have claws over them bitcoin in the other hand will be announce as illegal by some government body since there is no way they can control them
that is what they are going to do, because its not controllable it is own by the people,

Bitcoin will legal using currency payment if have higher price at the future but never take care to legal or not using bitcoin if price have down, many cases happen after bitcoin become popular and have higher price, when bitcoin still down at first time launching no one care with bitcoin and altcoin as investing and currency payment.

They can actually do that and it is happening in some countries like China, the government can regulate and ban any crypto or websites that can be accessed using a firewall worldwide, firewall is the best way they can use to regulate every websites that is connected to cryptocurrencies. But some countries are adopting in changes, they are accepting and recognizing crypto as a good currency but in a different way, because it uses internet before you can access it, it is digital money to be specific. And other countries cant see that.

Considering that the governments such as China have already tried to ban Cryptos. Would more governments do the same because Cryptos threaten the banks or the governments may want more control over what people use as currency and to remove all alternatives? What do you guys think, I personally think it won’t happen, but you might think otherwise.

I think China deliberately banning the use of Cryptos because they want that their people should only use their own digital currency. There are some countries have already prohibit the used of crypto but there is also some countries are now gradually accepting it like France. In my country cryptocurrencies are not prohibited that is why I can use it freely I want, however, it is not fully supported yet that is why I can't use it in any physical store. Getting back to the topic, perhaps the world might be divided into half where the other one accepts the use of crypto while the other one is not.

How are they going to ban a decentralized currency? Most of the countries tried to but a ban on torrenting due to piracy reasons, but were they able to do it? Nope they failed miserably. Crypto currencies (at least most of them are) also takes place P2P and transactions are done without any kind of middle man involved. Thus the government has no "central" authority or "institution" to ban. All they can do is ban the usage of crypto currencies within their countries, but it also going to be really hard for them to actually force it on people.

It could happen but I don't think other countries would be as crypto hater like China.
As of now, there are still a lot of countries who are very positive with bitcoin, with this latest news https://www.coindesk.com/german-banks-allowed-to-sell-and-custody-crypto-assets-from-2020-report... I think that shows how the government is very positive that crypto adoption one day will grow.

We should not overlook this potential problem in the future, because we know that blockchain technology can greatly benefit a country. In particular, every transaction here will be transparent that will help prevent corrupt government officials from taking advantage of the project that should have the funds allotted. There is a possibility that China's actions will be followed by other countries too, so this is what we are preparing for and hopefully it will not happen.

China govt already banned Cryptocurrency. India and Bangladeshi Govt are against Bitcoin and cryptos. They have already imposed hard rules for crypto traders and holders. Beside this, some countries already thought, crypto was a threat for their country. I also believe that cryptos will continue although few govt banned for few reasons.
