Are we all fools on believing the word "HOLD"?

Why are we going to be a fool on the word HOLD? We are the ones who will decide if we will gonna hold our coins or not. We can sell and we can buy us anytime we want. Why are we going to hold if the market is in an uptrend? Of course, we choose to sell it and make a profit right? So it also depends on the market.

I agree with that phenomena because we hold only when we see the market and we look at the past of the bitcoin market. We know that the position of crypto is very better and is going to get more stronger that is why we are holding and waiting for a great bullrun.

I think almost everyone sells when the market is trending or going up and buys it when the market goes down.
and if they still hold it back when the market goes up it's like wasting an opportunity and in the end will regret when the market goes back down.

I disagree, it is not totally a mistake, it just happens that they are too positive about the bull run, and hopes for even more about it, I will call it a mistake if they have lost their coin because they have send it to the wrong address because of too much excitement on getting their profits, maybe they (also me) missed the chance of selling it to gain profits, but bull run will still come and we will have another chance to do the right thing.

As i have experienced personally I lost on Holding coins... A big mistake waiting for something huge profit I'll make through that... But i was wrong. As it is volatile couldn't predict i should have not hold for long time.

You should not hold altcoins for too long but choose the opportunity to transfer your money to other altcoins to make a profit. Long-term investment is not always good.

It is always greedines that lure peolpe into holding for too long and missed the train. I know because I did such a thing in the past too and that was such a painful experience and expensive ones too. it definitely feels like getting a slap right on my face. People who are always holding for too long are those who believe too much on what people says. usually they just outright follow people's opinion while those thoughts are truly biased from someone unqualified and deemed to be a shill.

As for Centra, there are a lot of articles about their CEO getting arrested, so I think he hasn't been following the market for a long time.

Just forget about that project, if there's someone getting arrested from a project that simply means the project is a failure and there's no need to further follow that project. After all, the emergence of such arrest is simply a catastrophe for the entire team despite having large amount of money being thrown down to their face. Even their coin have sunk to the depth of the coinmarketcap and nowhere to be seen as of now.

There is really nothing to lose at this point by hodling.  Most of these cryptos you mentioned are already as low as they can possibly go,  unless of course the project dies/fails which is unlikely.

Hodl, the auction rally will definitely happen.  The market cannot bleed forever,  just Hodl but when price rallies,  take profits!

Most of the folks in this industry do the same thing simply because that is fundamentals of trading which is sell high and buy low. Hold only comes when the market has been long bear trend. If bull market comes hold it is better option to make a transaction.

Set a selling price of your coin and when that price is reached dont hesitate in selling. Greed for more profit always end up in huge loss.

while most of the users are doing it, some are earning from altcoins. you may find it not profitable to hold some, it takes courage to actually take time to read the altcoins potential and when an ETH-like project arrives some may thing its not possible but here we are again spreading fud to some of them like how we did to ETH back 2015. it just eat about $500 worth of investment and you might have your luck in the next bullrun. but then of course don't hold it when the bears are up again to rule the market.

As far as your portfolio is concerned im also holding Atlant and Npxs, i think both are good project especially big things are coming up for atlant so personally im very optimistic about massive demand and growth for Atl tokens.

   In years here I get trough many ups and downs, people make drama in any case. When it's rising people call the moon,
when it's dropping people call the zero. It's stressful in the beginning for newbies and probably some people never adopt
on fluctuations in crypto-market.
   I'm optimistic too. We need to be! Once we decided to join crypto-movement we should be ready to be strong even in
hard times! And hard times last for more then a year, only the strongest will survive.

I like to share my story being a crypto enthusiast, a trader and an investor at the same time.

I started in this forum in year 2015 when altcoins are still a good investment and Binance is still not the most popular exchange in the market.
I trade with Poloniex most of the time, sometimes I trade with Bittrex but then I realize that I am not so profitable with trading since I cannot focus on it due to the reason that i have a day job to prioritize.

Therefore, I started to invest for long term and I was entice by how the market moves and I was so optimistic that long term could really change my life.

Now, when the bull run comes, I still couldn't sell right away as I was getting greedy thinking I could earn more when I still hold.
of course, who would not HODL when all your friends in the group chat are also doing the same, even if the price rise high already, they are still saying HODL, and I really do it, and just sell a small portion of my investment to reward myself temporarily was I was into a big goal with my remaining investment.

And then, the correction comes started in year 2018, and I still didn't panic, continue to hold and even accumulate a bit when I see price has really dump a lot, just imagine ETH drop 10 times, so its really cheap and really tempting for any investors. So here I am now, I am still holding at a big loss but at the same time I am still hopeful one day my dreams will come into reality.

So top 10 of my portfolio consist of the following based on my blockfolio.

Please tell me if I should still expect I will be profitable or just give up now already.

Bitcoin and maybe one or two other coins might be worthy of hold for long term but on a large scale, I would say that the word "hold" has the biggest exaggeration and mis understood in cryptocurrency. In my understanding, hold actually means waiting long enough for a good exit point that guarantees your profit irrespective how small. It doesn't necessarily mean you should hold a coin for eternity. Even most developers have a sale plan in 6months to 18 months.

It's getting worse but it will surely come back again.
Patience is a must and you will not panic if you witnessed this kind of movement in the past.

just today, btc dropped again, the trend is going down since we hit over $10K from a big pump, and with that altcoins are also bleeding.
For me, there is nothing to worry on altcoins bleeding as some of them are almost worthless, so better relax and think that it will recover soon.

This is the problem for everyone even though they have been trading for a long time. Namely greedy nature to get a higher profit. Even though the Bull run has already taken place and has already benefited, but still want a higher price. Not only you who feel that way, I also experienced it and got a big loss. on the list, only one coin I am familiar with that was turn into scam, and that was centra.

And you need to set a goal, sell it when have profit. I think you have had a crazy profit because you bought them from 2015. But in the hype of 2017, you didn't take profit, maybe because you are too greedy.

Maybe the goal was too high, he didn't sell in the last bull run which most of the coins have rise up x10 or more, so he has to pay the price now, but we cannot judge since he is still holding it and that means he doesn't loss anything yet.

I also think that holding is the best thing for all investors if we will not hold with patience for a long time so it will minimize our profit to get the demanded profit we will have to hold. Those who lose their money for selling are those who panic at the wrong time. Holding and not to panic will help you avoid loose. Holding helps avoid losses and helps us to abstain from panic selling.
