Good morning guys, yesterday I received a strange Discord message from @GiveawayNews about a 0.2 btc winning. You can see the image:

So, I tried to register a new account to redeem the winning, but when I go to whitdraw I receive a message that a 0.01 btc deposit is mandatory to withdraw.
So guys, be careful from this site: aerochange.com

Nothing now here, it is an old method. Only new thing are the people that keep falling for this scam. You just have to keep one thing in mind: when someone sends you PM on Discord/Telegram offering you money- 100% scam. You dont have to know anything else about it.

Stay safe, trust no one!

Yeah, I know, I'm here since 2013. Anyway this is the first time I receive a Discord message.

There is a first time for everything, and all who use modern ways of communication sooner or later get a message like this. It is important to explore what this is really about, but when someone is asking you to pay first in order to get your alleged prize, there is no doubt that it is a fraud.

The best thing to do when something like this happens is to report it to abuse service, in this case of Discord. That way, you can help keep the whole thing from spreading further, in other words, you can save others from falling into the trap.

They used to post that kind of offer here in Bitcointalk, but after they were exposed and people are not biting their offer, so they choose, Discord, they are hoping to get more victims here, I hope people know this scheme and they been reading and visiting posts in this sections to find out the various methods these scammers are using.

I thought it was only in Telegram. Being part of big group channels where cryptocurrency is the central niche is subject to attacks from this kind of spam. It's not a new thing like what others said. It's even more prevalent in SMS back in the day, and I'm sure it has just carried over towards the more modern way to communicate. It's just a matter of time people learn how not to get scammed like that. Thanks for sharing this, though. You could prevent being messaged in Telegram but not sure with Discord, though.

They're everywhere mate. Emails, Discord, Wechat Groups, Telegram, Whatsapp. All with the same M. O. " I have coins in X exchange and i can't withdraw because im from China. Open an account on X exchange and you can keep 10% , etc. " Ending up with X exchange requiring you to make a BTC0.01 deposit to withdraw.

Nothing new here. It's just a variation on the "Free money to test our Casino" scam... where they offer you a starting bonus, but you need to deposit BTC to "confirm your account" or "unlock the balance" etc. Roll Eyes

You could prevent being messaged in Telegram but not sure with Discord, though.

They can disable the "allow direct messages from server members" which can be found in "privacy and safety". There's also a way to whitelist certain servers, just go to the privacy settings of the given server (beside the server name, there's a dropdown button)

By default, Discord doesn't allow users to send messages to someone who doesn't share a server with them so that should do the trick.

Another victim of them here [ASK] Exchange https://aerochange.com
