The problem is, users might be swayed by the ads instead of the discussion. Due to short attention spans, users mainly focus on whatever that appears first and those ads might even rank top.

There have been cases such sites (e.g. Bittrex) were placed above the legit ones on the search results pages, and many fell for them.
Solutions:
  • Use Duckduckgo
  • Use adblockers like Ublock origin, I personally like it... another one adblocker plus
  • Use antiphishing extensions metamask, netcraft, cryptonite etc

Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction. Advertise here.

Trust me, duckduckgo has the exact search results as Google except that there are no stupid Google ads or tracking... You won't miss a thing.
Actually you will come to realise that Google sometime hides certain search results from users.

bulshit
I haven't heard stupid advice for a long time. Do you make posts for the bounty or what?

Don't look down, Never fade out. Whoever was on the Major or the last IEM knows what I'm talking about. Counter Strike between everything. No doubt about it. Dunish team Astralis are legends.  Whether in Rio de Janeiro, Germany or in Ughanda or whatever. Why an esports? Why not? What's the difference between electronic and field competition? What makes Counter Strike, League of legends, Dota 2 and Call of Duty so ginganic in popularity. The best page about Counter Strike ? COUNTER STRIKE = HLTV. The best site for discussions and analysis for esports matches? ESPORTS BETTING. I use both of them for tips, for analysis and predictions. The best organized esport and revolutionary of the e-sports scene - Lolesports - official. The best organized events and something that looks epic in itself without playing - ESL gaming ! Which way is esports going? Is it going to change fundamentally in the next few years? How will the games change and will the most popular sports remain ? Can Overwatch or Pubg compete with Fortnite ?  Can Rainbow Six or Call of duty be a powerful for longer ? How does Hearthstone compete ? Will the scene of tournaments and online competition be even bigger? Where is the limit? And why are games and esport becoming so popular? What are the benefits ? Or maybe it's evil and the whole world is going to huge wasteland ?

Good stuff, haven't heard of that before. Also just wanted to share another website for checking crypto scams: https://fried.com/crypto-scam-checker/

Do note that the website is updated manually and so is subject to errors too. As someone had mentioned earlier in the thread, your best defense is to think smart.

If you are looking to detect scams, you should know that most often, scammers have just opened a website with a free template a few days ago.
For a quick verification, this website will provide you with a lot of information (seniority, "degree of trust", that kind of thing...)

I've found that Google is the best tool for scam detection. You should be able to find at least some discussion on any legitimate project or service. You also get to read about people's unique experiences, which may also help you decide if you want to dip your toes in. Scams will have little to no discussion, and might even have people directly calling it out. You know how people do extensive research on some new phone or car before buying them? That's exactly the kind of thing investors need to do on their potential investments.

Websites that rate others' trustworthiness often use rigid metrics that can be gamed or manipulated. They could be useful for finding certain information, but should never be the be all and end all for deciding trustworthiness.

That all sounds good, but unfortunately, in theory.

Unfortunately, most people don't know that.
Many people don't know the patterns of fraudsters
He doesn't even know there's such a thing as a bounty.

He doesn't know how an artificial pyramid deceives them.
And google information is often scarce. And you have to believe in those created by crooks, multi accounts and naive helpers who are also cheated at the end (they work for free)

So these are the methods you can put yourself, you know, where...

Can I use this website for detecting newly launched ICO sites? Im looking for this kind of site who reviews different crypto websites because most people scammed from this newly built and fake websites use ICO to collect money and use fake profiles/names to introduce a fraud project.

Happy New Year!!!

Newly launched sites usually don't have any ratings yet.

However once people submit theirs, it'll eventually flag them (websites) as scams.
