If it hasn't been suggested yet, I would also like to have an option of getting notified everytime a user I follow makes a new post. It is easier and more convenient than using the search for members function. Thanks!

You do not need to search to find someone's posts, just save the link of his last posts and check them every period.
If this is time-consuming it can be done using third party services.
Until this feature is included officially you can try the new version of the forum[1] and request this feature through GitHub page.

I don't think it is an a-la-carte where every request made by everyone or anyone is taken into account.
Years have been wasted on this quest of new software. Yet the epochtalk that was created.. lies untested.
Unless theymos was interested in beta testing it, modding it to add features from request threads like this is out of the question.

I like the idea, but it sounds low priority.

As we might say at work, this is probably one for the backlog. In the context of the new forum software, you can read that as never.

Seems a good idea but i don't think it will be implemented if users getting notified every time they are mentioned or quoted has not yet be implemented. Also this would mean that admin has to add the follow user feature which i also highly doubt will ever be added to the forum.

And neither they will because this feature will be available, like said above, in the new forum software.

In the forum, you have three options to do it:

Notifications have advantages and disadvantages. If you overuse notifications (posts/ topics) you will be spammed and burried with notifications, which I don't think you really expect.

I agree with the new feature for Epochtalk but as an personal option.
