I second the recommendation for bitcoin-qt. I find multibit buggy. If you want light wallet, i suggest electrum. If you want safety, avoid all website wallets.

i'm using a computer wallet multibit and it's not very hard, better than letting someone else hold your coins.

Use Electrum for a small amount of bitcoin and use a paper wallet for a large amount of bitcoin.
