I think the first question that comes to my mind is why investors should show any interest in investing in altcoins? Investors are not dumb, they can see what happened in the market of cryptocurrencies a few years ago, most of the growth that we had in the altcoin market was the product of nothing but hype, most of the coins that were supposed to become the new leaders of this market and to bring adoption all over the world failed on their goals and many disappeared, which rational investor will want to invest in altcoins ever again?

Altcoins are not growing these days because people who are in the market are now less aggressive than before. They are aware that the market has become more mature and they adjusted themselves in order to fit with that term so they are now more on analysis before they put their money which made the altcoins to have a slow growth.

You are mistaken, not because of a lack of investor interest. But because of the hundreds of altcoins only a few can provide good progress, investors will be there.
Outside there are so many investors who want to invest in crypto, but with a note that the project must be clear in performance, not just a blank vision.
Actually we can already see which altcoin projects are really real and projects that are only fraud.

You are mistaken, not because of a lack of investor interest. But because of the hundreds of altcoins only a few can provide good progress, investors will be there.

Actually we can already see which altcoin projects are really real and projects that are only fraud.

That is it, many altcoins had been flooded into market without a clear picture of the market a lot of them had abandoned or deviated from their white paper thus abysmal performance in the market indicates lack of progress of the coin as you rightly said while some are frauds and scammers that had discouraged many investors to invest in them.

Everyone keeps saying 2020 will be great for crypto, I want that to come true but precisely I think 2020 will be great for Bitcoin. It's not a bad idea to invest in altcoins but invest with caution! Many projects are built on lies, most end up packing up with funds. If you go by promises on whitepaper and roadmap, we can consider at least 90% of altcoins as already failed projects. New investors are not showing interest as before because everyone is scared.

In my view, there are 2 main reasons for that, fundamental ones.
First, exchanges manipulate prices like crazy. You can see it on new listings, on old coins, just everywhere. They’ve learned how to earn money directly from their users deposits. As soon as they did, we’ve seen a massive price drop of alts in 2018. And we continue to see it right now. If you think that it’s impossible for exchange to suppress price of low cap coin, then you have to check FRM for example. They’ve had 200k usd initial mcap. And it was suppressed even with such a low mcap. How? Cause most users transferred their coins on one exchange to never withdraw it again. In such case exchange can continuously dump users tokens on the heads of those who buy more and not transfer those tokens out from exchange. Such manipulation obviously comes with a high risk, especially on a low cap coin, where every once in a while a rather big investor finds out about the project and try to make a withdraw. And exchange in this case have to stop withdrawals/deposits. Cause they simply doesn’t have enough coins to make a payment. In other case, exchange “got hacked”.
Second, users hold most their coins on exchanges. And those who doesn’t, usually hold them for a long time without trying to buy/sell. Such behavior on users side, make it possible for exchanges to have a full control over the price and let them easily earn from dumping price.

If you interested how exactly exchanges do that. They just consider users tokens/coins as their own. Use them as a leverage. Sell let’s say at 1usd and quickly dump it to no less than 50% of its price. If person see less than 50% price drop, with enough liquidity, he’ll consider cutting the loss. With more than 50% price drop, person consider to hold until recovery. The lower the price, the less people consider cutting the loss. At 90% drop almost no one really cares about cutting the loss anymore and just hold infinitely.
So it dropped 40%. People start selling massively. Exchange buy back from those people and now they just earned 0.4usd from every token they’ve leveraged at 1usd. Now they can repeat this scheme taking 0.6usd price as a basis.
And they can repeat this thing indefinitely, until someone try to make a big withdrawal in the wrong moment. If there are many such clients at once, exchange stops withdrawals/deposits. Until they’ll purchase tokens somewhere else.

What can you do to change that? Just never hold your tokens on any exchange. And use exchanges only when you really have to buy more/sell the pump. The sooner more people realize that, the sooner market starts recovery.

Let us remember that all of us here are almost investors, if not investors, might be a trader or a bounty hunter that is holding some coins/altcoins, so what do you expect, for sure everyone of us are aiming to have a good start of the year as we are looking forward that our investment will grow as well as can hype and can invite our friends and some people to do crypto too so the demand will continue to increase.

All types of investments are always risky, but the higher the risk, the higher the return. We can't say anything about the future, at the time when ETH was launched who would have thought that its price could reach $1200? Everything is shit until it is profitable.

In my opinion, investors today prefer to wait for the right time to restart investing because if we look at the number of scam projects that make investors suffer losses and make investors hesitate to start investing again in new projects. And I think this is a natural thing, maybe it needs a factor that can encourage investors to return to invest.

I don't think of it that way. Investors tend to do another type of investment to at least make a profit while we are in the bear market or maybe they put their investment to safety like stablecoins. Bitcoin has the same situation as altcoins so I don't think that they will prefer bitcoin where they will just having the same scenario.

Investors are losing confidence in the market at this time, maybe if there are new spikes like 2017 many will be attracted to re-enter this market.
But the problem is when it will happen no one knows.
We can only hope that in the following years the crypto market will be better than now.

Good for those weak investors. If people lose confidence after just 1 bear,,, bearing in mind Bitcoin is still actually way more above its price than before the start of the bull run, and bearing in mind that almost 99% of all altcoins actually have no users and yet are still existing,,, then people should just leave the market. If you have a good altcoin, it will grow, if you are patient. If you have a shit one which 99% of altcoins are, then better give up now and invest in stocks.

I don't think of it that way. Investors tend to do another type of investment to at least make a profit while we are in the bear market or maybe they put their investment to safety like stablecoins. Bitcoin has the same situation as altcoins so I don't think that they will prefer bitcoin where they will just having the same scenario.

Well although they are on the same boat right now but come to think how profitable of bitcoins if you are doing a short trades right now and many people who do trades are actually happy those people who only get upset at this scenario are the people who doesn't have knowledge and get trap by huge market downfall. And I don't know why you still didn't think about  the people's choice on crypto since if you think about cryptocurrencies you will about bitcoins and you surely need bitcoins to trade that's why the demand rise up and could help for immediate and long term pumps.

This part is the reason and answer to OP's question. Is unfortunate, but if project builders were sincere with investors, the crypto market cap would have been very high because more investors will join but now they are all scared and not supporting new project and just buying bitcoin. This is the reason that the price of bitcoin is that high.
