In general people are getting scared about huge amounts of scammers around in the crypto market. May be people are going back to conventional trading and investment platforms such as stocks, mutual funds etc..?

Just because the price of altcoin isn't rising like bitcoin doesn't mean that altcoins are being "boycotted". It makes no sense to boycott altcoins. People just want to invest on bitcoin and hold it while use altcoins to make day to day transactions and payments because using altcoins are cheaper and faster compared to bitcoin. I would be surprised to see you opening a new thread saying "Is bitcoin getting Boycotted" when the price of altcoin starts to rise while bitcoin goes down.

Some people are bitcoin maximalists, they call altcoins shitcoins derogatorily. BTW, should we consider BCH or BSV altcoins? The most hated ones in their circlejerk
Personally i don't like BSV because of Craig Wright who ruined it with unnecessary claims, first was he invented bitcoin and now he claims to be Satoshi nakamoto, he even said bitcoin will die in 2020, BCH is better

Another possibility is that most investors have lost most of their money already and have decided to never trade any market again, this is not so rare it is known that in other markets most newbie traders will lose all their capital in less than a year, why this market should be any different? Especially when the amount of scams in this market is many times higher than what you could find in the stock market, and until we can bring more investors then altcoins are going to remain in their place.

For my part, I have always considered the Bitcoin forked coins (such as Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin SV, Bitcoin Diamond and Bitcoin Gold) as a category separate from the other altcoins. Because their price movements and trading triggers are not in line with the mainstream altcoins (such as Ethereum and Ripple). Also, I would classify stablecoins such as USDT and USDC as separate as well.

Bitcoin used to be at 95%+ and for good reason. It was the first, and the rest were copies. You question is as if they all came out at the same time. A boycott also requires for people to get together and plan it, but what you're seeing instead is the market at work.

i'm sure nothing will be boycotted unless the project commits any violations there, yesterday it was just a matter of trends that happened so you panicked and worried about the future of altcoins. the trend will change soon at least i'm sure about that which makes me more confident to stay. 2020 there will likely be many changes and surely this year will become a more positive market due to many factors that can make the crypto season come

Bitcoin dominance is above 65% which is something unusual since Altcoins started getting more interest from investors. It also seems that this percentage is increasing steadily for quite some time now. This is not surprising since Bitcoin was the most profitable coin in 2019 and people don't take the risk investing in altcoins anymore, they realized that Bitcoin is less risky as the price almost always eventually recover afterwards when it comes to BTC.

So what  to do you think? Are altcoin getting boycotted, giving Bitcoin an increasing dominance from now on?

in 2019 it was a bad year for altcoin but I am sure in 2020 altcoin will again improve in price and will again be in demand by world investors. so there is no need for a boycott of altcoin because everyone has a time to grow and collapse. we hope that in 2020 we can restore the altcoin price which has fallen last year.

Exactly, a boycott will require that we get organized and that a centralized party tell us what to do and we just follow their orders blindly, but that is not what it is happening here, each investor that is deciding to not invest in altcoins is doing it because of their own selfish reasons, I'm not going to invest in altcoins because I know that I'm going to lose my money and as an investor that is something that I do not want, why you should invest in those coins just to get scammed by some person in another country?

I am also looking forward that this year we will have more great news that will move the altcoins again, we are not boycotting the altcoins, but we are really afraid to give our al in or to look and look for more altcoins as we know already how bad they become during past years, hope that we will have more trust again in this year just like before.

And why you're so sure that something like that is going to happen? What it is going to change in the market of altcoins that is going to bring such a huge change in the attitude that investors have towards them? It is time that people realize the truth, altcoins are never going to be as successful as they were in the past, but this is not bad the few altcoins that remain will be good projects that will be worth your time and money and you will be able to freely invest in them but the rest of the coins are going to disappear.

Yes, we are already seeing positive changes already. This time around, the upcoming Chinese new year (as at now) hasn't affected the market negatively which is a good sign. Some altcoins like BSV, BCH, ETH, EOS are really doing well with a good uptrend in prices. My portfolio is "smiling at me" ☺.

Altcoins are just there for the risk-takers now. No investor wants to lose money so they boycott altcoins and focus more on the major assets like bitcoin and ethereum. Maybe new alts will be considered in future if they stay true to their project developments

That is everyone's hope about this year, but what will happen later we do not know maybe for now we can only predict the possibility that can happen later, such as the upward movement of the price of bitcoin starting from a few days ago which is a good start for us all and hope that the price of altcoin will slowly increase too. For me for now we must prepare our next steps.

As of now, people are afraid on investing in altcoin since most of them does not have any chance to rise its price plus the fact that halving is about to happen. They are investing on the bitcoin instead of altcoin since halving is coming and they are going to try to gain profit into it. Sooner or later, they might be investing on altcoin again.

It's not because we boycotted the altcoins, but because we are really tired of the fake promises, fake volumes, fake developments, fake teams . We are really tired that our money we invested doesn't move or worst, we got nothing at all, so we cannot really blame investors for this.

Today it is very difficult to raise the funds of investors in new companies, since no one can guarantee a profit, just like no one can guarantee the integrity of a team in their activities.  The same situation is with respect to altcoin, because there is always information that about 80% of all altcoin do not have a real product and therefore their price on the cryptocurrency market like an air bubble exists thanks to speculators.  Based on this, there are certain cryptocurrencies that can be checked by the coin market rating, in which almost all cryptocurrency users are interested and nothing more.  And only on this basis, you need to focus on profitable investments in cryptocurrency.  Nevertheless, in recent years, Bitcoin SV has risen in price by almost 300%, and this is despite the fact that Craig constantly agitates for this altcoin and at the same time, there are constantly voiced statements about distrust of this person and about fraud on his part.

It is yet to be determined if what we are seeing is really a change in the negative trend that we have seen during the last months, I am happy for a lot of those that are obtaining profits with their altcoins however I really hope that you already sold your BSV, if you were holding any when all of this happened because since that coin reached its peak it is registering losses above 40% and that coin most likely will keep crashing and it will reach a value lower than the one it had when all of this started.

This pretty much is the case for the altcoin industry right now. Most of them are dead because either they ran away with their investor's money or they have been thought of as fraud incorrectly. But honestly, the thing that kills altcoins right now is their lack of vision. Most of these ICOs who put up these altcoin have on ultimate goal, that is to profit. They have to change that mindset or else altcoins are really gonna be dead.

For that they will need to actually care about what they are creating and they do not, they have no vision because they do not care about the market and they only care about their pockets and when the majority of the projects are like that then most people will eventually give up on altcoins which is exactly what we are seeing, so what is next? Not much, I really do not expect this tendency to change, altcoins will pump from time to time generating some excitement but that is it.
