the goal of people making films is usually to make a profit, maybe they think bitcoin-themed films aren't very profitable, because bitcoin is not very understood by many people, even in my environment only a few people understand about bitcoin.

People really don't need to fully understand bitcoin for film directors/companies to profit off them though. When talking about documentaries, sure probably. But movies? Nah. Just create a story on how a drug dealer uses bitcoin to sell his stuff; and add some CIA stuff and FBI pursuing him with guns and helicopters and stuff, and you're golden.

a serial like mr. robot that indirectly promotes bitcoin especially at the early season where bitcoin often mentioned , i think it could be a reference for the further bitcoin movie projects, i really like the way the director sam esmail send the messages about how cryptocurrency space could actually help our financial system , not to mention that he also demonstrates how bitcoin could be abused, that is just realistic.

i wish there a movie version of this mr.robot serial especially if they put blockchain technology as their main theme.

true bitcoiners want more transaction utility. and know that more transaction utility will cause more usefulness, which will cause more REAL adoption of people that actually want and need bitcoin for BITCOIN purposes. not fiat purposes.

whenever i see people just screaming blue murder that bitcoin needs more adverts. all i see is that person being the one that is willing to sell and cause a price drop when the price reaches their goal target.
and the coins being sold being handed to multiple people who the want to sell at a target. in the end its just causing an increasing amount of people wanting to sell when they get emotional

bitcoins value should rise due to its function and utility not due to some tv advert

My guess: When were talking about a high budget Bitcoin movie that somewhat accurately portrays it's history, then my guess is that when Bitcoin becomes a normal household name in a way that a good number people aren't looking at it as a scam or an investment scheme(which is still it's current public perception). Bitcoin being used in a criminal manner will sell a lot more today knowing that the misconception of "bitcoin is only used by criminals" is still there.

A movie distributed by Lionsgate and having Kurt Russell in the main cast got terrible reviews and was only released in 164 theaters. Unfortunately, it's impossible to find the info about the budget, but the movie looks like a complete disaster, fortunately.

urns ut the laundering is linked to some shady blackmarket and hostages are taken and threats are made to stop investigating the company or else.
bit of action occurs, some people die some run around fearing their life including the auditors father(kurt russell) who was kidnapped.

Not all high budget movies put bitcoin on the criminal side, some of them are also promoting or saying something good about bitcoin. I can't remember the title of that particular movie but there's a fat guy that earns a fortune in bitcoin in that movie I completely forgot the title.

I cant remember any movie involving super stars from Hollywood. I am sure in near future Hollywood would release block bluster movie which can involve Bitcoin and crypto trading . However there are few documentaries already avaible on internet but I don't find them thrilling.

Yes it is deliberately plotted as a negative thing so people are affected and assume bitcoin is part of a crime. To be honest that is one of their ways to destroy bitcoin. But unfortunately films like that rarely get good ratings because most of the storylines are too complicated to watch for people.

Reading through the sub 2013 replies on this forum is much better quality time than a movie about Bitcoin can provide. How can you not have a good time reading through speculation threads where people thought that Bitcoin would rekt a lot of people having bought at $10 for example.  

I probably wouldn't watch a movie about Bitcoin because the trailer would suck so hard that I don't want to waste more time on it than I already have. We already know the main narratives of movies about crypto; pump n dump and dark nets. Having a higher budget doesn't change anything on that front.

Also, the average joe interest in such a movie highly depends on what cycle we're in. Good luck trying to get people to watch that movie during a bear market.

So far we have not yet, but I'd love to see a movie created by Warner Bros or Universal Pictures and stars big star like Keanu Reeves, but I want to be the story non fictional and dwells on the fact about Bitcoin and not something that people will think that Bitcoin is hard to understand and only for tech person, I hope to see this kind of movie soon.

Don't even mention that shit. Crypto is not a bitcoin movie it just uses the name because it's catchy and not many people know what it is but they know it's that sophisticated shit they mention in the news about terrorists, black markets and such. Crypto is repeating mainstream lies about bitcoin and it's a shit movie even for the general audience.
The best part about it is the general audience did not get fooled. The movie was a box office failure making only 20k USD worldwide.

I would personally like to see a movie trying to show how Bitcoin is created, what was the idea behind it and who is actually the person behind the alias Satoshi Nakamoto. I think there might be a very interesting story to tell, along with some good actors and some of the world's top directors the film could certainly contribute to the popularization of Bitcoin and portray it in a positive light.

But movies are mostly made for profit, there is actually very little art left in this industry. However, one day when Bitcoin is worth a lot more than it is today, I have no doubt that someone will make a high-budget movie.  

Exactly what I would like to see.

• The conversations that has been had here on Bitcointalk
• The famous "if you don't believe it... I don't have the time to convince you" quote
• Satoshi going into hiding
• The S2X controversy
• the list goes on

I almost don't care if it becomes over dramatized(as long as it's not misleading) as most movies does this anyway, but I want to watch something that's going to bring a tear to my(and a lot of people here's) eyes. Definitely hope we get to see one in our lifetime.

Feels like I wanna download it already. But yes it portrait BTC being used by criminals which is why it doesn't help promote BTC. Can't say its political but its hard to promote crypto, the documentary which supposedly looks at cryptocurrency in every angle are sometimes purposely not mention the good sides.

If there is a high budget movie to be created, it should be directed by popular director at least probably involves big hollywood names and comedy genre as well. A netflix movie would be best so everyone has the time to check in on the upcoming movies.

its okay if they put a disclaimer before the movie starts " saying that all event , characters , and story are all fictional " so that people will not assume that btc is bad in a real life .

its also normal that btc  starts with low budgeted film or documentaries because this is where unpopular characters or actors also start but eventually after they become noticeable in the public , that is the start of thier fame and they are now being sponsored by big companies  to create a high quality movie  .

I have seen many bitcoin movies and shorts where it was talking about bad things and good things.

It is not about being bad or good but advertising for people to know more about them.
Does not need to have a high budget to become a good movie if you are asking about that.

It has just to represent bitcoin in a way most of the new people can see it's true cons and pros and potentials.
And be informative that bitcoin is not something to use without being worried about the scammers and bad things.

Not long ago i saw a movie related to bitcoins and it was shared on this forum also.  7 Days to Vegas is a gambling related comedy movie which does involve crypto currencies. This is a must watch if you like light comedy movies.

I think we newd to thank them for creating documentaries movie about bitcoin even the budget is very small the important with that is they are created a movie about bitcoin that help to it to become popular gets more investors to turn into higher value. Anyone can create a video about bitcoin with high budgets and that is really big help to bitcoin community I hope people who that is the people became millionaire because of bitcoin it's time to turn it back the benefits they got.

A lot of the films I've seen reviewed on the forum (there was one thread in particular that I'm thinking of) weren't in English, so I doubt I'd even have access to them even if I could get through them with subtitles. 

You'd think bitcoin would be a great plot point or even just a McGuffin, but I haven't seen bitcoin even mentioned in any recent film--and I watch a lot of movies.  Don't know why that is, but maybe it'll change someday.  I have to think that bitcoin's young age, i.e., the fact that it's only been around for ten years, and it's relative lack of mainstream acceptance and understanding, contribute to it being absent from film.

It is a good thing that there have been low-budget movies about it, though.  That's a start at least.  And I'm at least happy that all those documentaries came out, because some of them were really good.

Always want a quality bitcoin related movie but to think that if bitcoin is included as the main theme, it is most likely to be criminal, action or science fiction movie, or something used for bad deals, to make it more interesting...
Why not just a purely fictional story of Satoshi Nakamoto? I don't know if this will work but it can be a story of life of Satoshi. The story could just be a multiple story of what story does Satoshi could possibly have... I don't know either if you understand what I want to say but that's it. Don't mind this part...
It would be really great if Bitcoin were used in a movie that shows it's positive side, not only the bad side. It's not about the budget I guess. It can be a high budget but still showing the bad side of Bitcoin. It won't still help bitcoin's adoption.

For a high budget movie, we need crowdfunding! Otherwise no one is going to invest so much money in to a film just to showcase a currency system or how it is making the lives easier around the world! Needed best actor for promoting about bitcoin movie and need higher budget for creating movie talking about how bitcoin feature and use become legal transaction payment, I watched last bitcoin movie but an actor come from Thailand and give good story talking about how bitcoin become digital currency payment for illegal transaction, but the story very interested.
