Indian State to Train 20,000 ‘Blockchain Experts’ by 2022

Kerala, a state on the southwestern coast of India, plans to produce at least 20,000 blockchain experts within the next two years.

According to RepublicWorld.com, the state announced this information at BlockHashLive 2019 this Sunday. The goal here is for India to get a headstart on future technologies.

Blockchain experts, huh? It's just that India is like China, more on blockchain than Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

I just don't know how the hell are they going to get those numbers by 2022? I'm not saying the numbers are impossible, but I'm just kinda curious about it.

To all of the India Bitcoin and blockchain community here on Bitcointalk, what would be your opinion or reaction about this one?

Do you think it signals the "much-needed" faith that the Indian state or government would finally "change their hearts" about their negative views on Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies?

That is good from India for a country that has not have a clear roadmap for cryptocurrency. Having over 20,000 expert shouldn't be much difficult for a huge population like India, and they have many expert in IT. I hope they look into Cryptocurrency too and see how to better their people with it.

But does it have any relation with blockchain? Read it again! Blockchain doesn't have any relation with cryptos! Bitcoin is just one use case of blockchain and nothing else!

India has always been a breeding hub of brilliant programmers. It's indeed great to hear that a state government is taking initiative to nurture those talented programmers and making them market ready to fuel blockchain adoption which will eventually lead to transparent governance!

That's interesting, well Indians are known to be one of the great IT developers, so this is possible as they can really become one of the good blockchain expers in the world. I am looking forward for this one day that they can also develop their own and to be known worldwide, let's see and watch it out.

Crypto is just a disruptive obstacle and a threat for their economy and It does make sense why they are so eager to ban it meanwhile taking advantage of blockchain technology which certainly could be beneficial. they just don't want the money get out from their country and it seems that they are training people to become blockchain expert not necessarily for their own country but to expand into international market considering blockchain developer are not that common.

This is good news for India.India are doings great in digital technology. Our country also trying to develop in digital technology,some organisation already made some seminar.Maybe in 2020 we will good development in blockchain technology.

Yes again we are seeing what Indian is capable of doing, using Blockchain into real world active actions.

That could actually become a positive sign of a new trend on India so that it finally realizes how cryptocurrencies could also benefit from such involvements.

It's the govt, they have the resources to make it happen. Question is if those 20k upcoming blockchain professionals can actually be considered "experts" with just a few years of training (?)

Also, quantity doesn't mean quality, so I don't understand why exactly they're mentioning an specific number of upcoming "experts". Honestly, this whole news sounds like nothing but pure "sensationalism" and blatant PR for the state of Kerala (:

Haha I think it's just more of a Sunday morning thought of some politician who dreamt about it on a long sunday night. I am not saying it's impossible but 20000 is a fairly large number and also keeping in mind that the formal education system doesn't has any specific course on blockchain in India it's hard to train such large amount of people in this field. There needs to be a proper vocational course but that also won't be joined by lot of people as the field is fairly new and not a lot of people realize that how vast and rewarding this field is going to be in near future.

Fair play that the state which is taking this initiative is Kerala (most literate state in the country) and it comes as no surprise that people there are actually very keen on learning more about blockchain technologies.

This is the main conundrum here, the government is not budging over its stance on cryptocurrency and it seems very likely to be this way until they're made to open their eyes and look at the positives of 21st century technology. I still don't think these trainees will even go anywhere near causing a change in hearts.

The states in India are exploring the use of blockchain and even the central Gov have a clear mentality to use blockchain for any good purpose. There are some top universities in India like ISIk, IITB where the research work is done related to the blockchain.
The state Kerala always used to show path for the rest of the states in India, and all other states used to follow their model. One of the big examples is the "education to all" policy, which makes Kerala become the state with the highest total literacy rate in India. Now the whole of India follows it as " Sarva Shiksha Mission". Hope that Kerala will show the path of Blockchain usage to rest of the country.

It doesn't really have to go with bitcoin and crypto's if they are exploring about blockchain. The usecase of the technology is wider than we ever think. Blockchain isn't just for crypto's and which I think they want to be the tp blockchain engineer supplier in the world.

So for two years, they have to produce 10,000 experts per year. Is the interest enough to produce that amount??

Anyways, India's I'T sector is one of the best in the world so I have no doubts that the can still be the leader as far as this latest technology. And they could be the a blockchain hub in the future. We don't know, maybe in the next 4-5 years there will be huge demand globally. So India will have a lot of resource in place by that time that can supply that demand for blockchain developers.

Let me remind you that Bitcoin (and cryptocurrency) is different from Bitcoin.

Just because they're gonna train 20K people and make them into Blockchain export doesn't mean they support cryptocurrency in general.
Most of them will use blockchain on another sectors besides cryptocurrency and any decentralized application/system.

Exactly they just want to explore blockchain technology and maybe they wont support cryptocurrency at all because of its purpose. 20,000 people is a huge number, India is so serious about creating bigger teams so they can be more advance when it comes to technology. Let’s just hope for their support in cryptos especially with bitcoin or maybe, they’ll create their own coin as well.

Are they going to choose some participants or those who are willing to take the courses of blockchain technology? Because I think what is better is to have a course or even just a subject that will focus on understanding blockchain and developing some blockchain based applications. But before this, It is a requirement that a student should have a base knowledge and should taken up computer courses because mainly what it will focus is more on hashing algorithms, encryption and security.
