Ofcourse they want us distracted from the actually important things, and what better way than also dividing us at the same time with their racist identity politics? "Democracy" it seems is really a rare occurrence, more like an aberration from the usual course of things. There were some sort of polities with some degree of representation before like Venice, Athens, maybe Novgorod but those were far and between and never to the same degree of the USA. After USA, several democracies came forth (though some we can argue are only democracies by name). It is troubling that rights are being eroded but if it does, we can probably just tell ourselves that the world just reverted to its default. |
