Are any of these options possible?  How do you protect yourself from getting hacked?

Creating them out of thin air is what miners do all of the time (actually, it takes cool thin air, quite a bit of energy, and an ASIC or two...)

Hacking for them (as in stealing) is frowned upon.

I keep mine secure from hacking by storing them in a password protected wallet on a computer that is reasonably well secured against break-ins.
If I had more than 1-2 I'd store them in properly created paper wallets.

paper wallet?

Yes, a wallet on paper, thus -if you dont mess up- impossible to hack. Think of it like a private key that never has been online. Thus its only on the paper you printed and hold in your hands, which makes it very hard for someone to get it. Well, depending on your family and your security precautions regarding that piece of paper. Wink

as well as other threads regarding that topic across the forum.

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

You can create bitcoin from thin air through mining.  Smiley You will not be hack if you know how to protect your self from viruses and phishing email. Your bitcoin will be safe if you save it on newly formatted offline pc that is not use in internet and has no other software installed other than bitcoin and antivirus.

No they can't be, they're guarded by special magic spells that only miners have access to, the graphics cards are just a conduit to it.

How do you protect yourself from getting hacked?

These two pages would be a good place to get started.
