This is a congestion zone in a ranging market so my hopes aren't high for huge fireworks (in either direction) this week. My overall bias is still leaning bullish. Targets in the $8K-$9K area seem possible in the next couple weeks.

I don't think bitcoin will see much of a fall due to Christmas, there may be little trading from the west but the east will still probably keep trading and keep the price on the current trajectory. I think it'll take a while for us to see the markets do a substantial move (a few months probably).

As much as possible do not connect holidays, seasons, and also historical price movements on your analysis for the current price movement of Bitcoin will be. Basically what you are doing is just as good as guessing what the price of Bitcoin will be without actually doing any kind of analysis. I think extasie has proven that what you have seen in the last three years is wrong and Christmas has nothing to do with Bitcoin's dumping. Yeah we ended it bad during December 2017 but it does not mean that this will be a routine cycle for Bitcoin every December. You must also consider other factors such as volume, moving averages, and actual demand before you can even say that Christmas has something to do with it.

I'll take your word that what you say is correct, since I haven't checked the charts before posting this.  I don't remember how the last few years went for bitcoin around Christmas, but I don't ever remember the price being predictable at any point during the year, not even toward the end. 

I agree that people tend to see patterns where they don't necessarily exist--that's part of human nature, and it's that Dunning-Krueger effect or whatever it's called that describes the phenomenon.  I try not to succumb to that when dealing with markets, which is why I'm not a TA chart-watcher.

And right now bitcoin is as sideways as ever.  There hasn't been a huge price drop, not even that one we just saw.  That had happened in November as well if I recall correctly.

I think that ahead of Christmas many people are selling their assets to prepare for tonight and it needs money to prepare for it. It could all be a dump now because there are many needs on Christmas.

Just like what the first comment said, BTC experienced various movements from each Christmas, which doesn't really follow a pattern whatsoever. Buying pressure decreases. We see more dumps in the market, and yes Christmas season is here and it may be one of the major reason why price movement goes somehow down. You know season of giving gifts, get away trips and a lot of discount sales in mall, and probably those who dumps a lot are totally making their fortune just only in crypto currency. We might not see another 5 digit Bitcoin price nor more than $10,000 until the halving is done. Base on what have happened from the last 2 Bitcoin halving, it seems that the price tends to have a rally and make another ATH a year after the halving.
Another guess is, if Bitcoin breaks the $10,000 resistance level beginning of January, huge possibility that It will gradually increase for the whole year of 2020.

If you check 2017, at Christmas, the price is not dumped, but it gets pump higher although, before Christmas, the price was getting dump so hard the price still trying to increase. Yeah, I also been here since 2017, and who would forget the all time high that year, but followed by the bearish trend in 2018-2019. So it's really hard to say if the dump are over yet.

We just have to remain positive, a good $7500 at the end of the year is still good, as we are close to 90% year-to-year.

I don't think a lot of people are selling their btc because they want to spend it for christmas needs. That is a no brainer anyone can always choose to pay in fiat currency. There is another reason why the people dont want to buy due to the situation in the market today.

It is not only Christmas but the "holiday season" in USA, in some other nations as well but in USA there is Halloween and on top of that there is thanksgiving and then Christmas afterwards (and some celebrate new years too) so it is a costly season that makes investors give up on their investments to sell and use that money to celebrate the holiday season better.

I am not from USA but we have new years here as well (just like all around the world) and I am a person who spends it at home not spending too much money, so all in all I am not the reason for bitcoin price to fall but there must have been a lot of people who sold during these times. The best times for bitcoin to go up seems to be around spring because both people haven't spent their new money yet on summer vacations just yet and they are not worrying about holiday season neither.

Not all people in the world celebrate Christmas, there are around 2 billion Christians, but many are merely declared as such, and do not hold too much to religion. However, those who have BTC and who need the money will sell some BTC at this time, at least I think and do just that. hmm it was caused by halving 1 year before. so, in my opinion, it has no effect on this Christmas. but it's quite unique when 2 days ago before Christmas the price increased to 6700, which I thought when Christmas happened it would be a sell off due many people need money to buy gifts.

The dump in price of the bitcoin market don't always happen every Christmas and with the upcoming bitcoin halving some infrequently dump and surge in price is expected due to people spending their bitcoin on some gifts while the real dump will happen after Christmas and early next year.

The dump usually happens in January when the tax is due. 2019 was a mixed year, but still we managed to do a +200% after all. So some taxes will have to be paid in January, I just hope that the hype and media for the bitcoin halving will cover all the sell pressure.

well there is a myth that bitcooin price go down on christmas day because of people selling some of bitcoin that they hold for a year for buying stuff as part of the celebration day and some holiday expenses too , that is pretty makes sense right?

A couple of days before Christmas we saw a trend reversal which i was not expecting and today the market went down a bit and that is not a big dump but a small correction we used to see after a sudden rally and the market is literally not showing any signs of big weakness nor any rally coming up in the next few days, when the market started to rally i expect a entirely different scenario but today the market was silent like usual without any major variations and that is what i am expecting till the New Year.

Well i don't even consider that a dump though. Still above 7k and i still like what i'm seeing compared to last year. December 26, and the value at the moment is playing at 7.2k. Last year around this time we're having a continuous slide in value. And it's already a given that some people are spending their coins during the holidays. Nothing out of the ordinary with what we're seeing.

You can't certainly expect that this Christmas season will see a bullish market just like of 2017. What you've seen to the current market position today is not really bad as I concluded. I can understand people who need money for Christmas, I mean if you are celebrating something big, you have to spend money. Even if you are at home that is a bit of a cost to you and considering how many small investors there are in bitcoin, that must be the first thing to go.

If you have stocks and gold and whatever those are conventional stuff that everyone invests into in the world, bitcoin is more niche, and telling your family that you will sell the gold to buy Christmas stuff may cause some issues, same with stocks, but you selling the bitcoins you have to cover the expenses would probably fly over their heads and they would think of it as "free money" instead. So, it is much much simpler to sell your crypto to pay for stuff, nobody questions your decision making.

What do you mean bitcoin dominance drop? btc will never go down to its dominance it will always be the top cryptocurrency for more years. The reason why the price are still hanging around the support level is that some investors have still a doubt over the market situation where it was supposed to be pumping right now because of the 2020 btc halving.

Breakouts have taken place, and few altcoins too have slowly recovered. This might be a beginning for the growth. Compared to the starting days of the year what we've got is a good year ending. In simple if there is no growth from the second quarter of the year now people might be in panic that there won't be any further growth. Isn't it we have a good pump around $7500 though? However, it seems that it was just a bull trap as the price simply went down to $7200. So let's see if we can go back to $7500 at least up to the end of the year. And then everyone should look forward as what 2020 will bring to us. That's just an hypothetical theory made before but I don't really think it's relevant to believe those words since we already seen that in every Christmas Eve there's either stability or pump happens but there's no decline maybe we saw those little dump on past few days maybe the reason of that is the hacking incident which involves with plus token.
