I read a post on Atomicwallet Blog here https://atomicwallet.io/unstoppable-blockchain-domains-guide, and was astonished at how blockchain innovation tends to change paradigms in internet discourse.

For easy read, I'll quote the first two paragraphs on the article:

Quote
The blockchain domains are not a part of a centralized system controlled by ICANN, the international organization that stores the records of who owns particular domains. That’s why only you store your blockchain domain in your wallet, and no one can move it without the private key access.

The blockchain domain can be used for making uncensorable websites. They are not stored on the traditional centralized servers of large companies and can’t be taken down by someone’s object to it or governmental request. Only the owner can put the website up and take it down because the content is stored on the decentralized network like ipfs. You simply need to point content from a decentralized storage network to your domain. The blockchain domains require browser plugins to resolve inside most standard browsers as they’re new and yet not supported by the traditional system.

What came by this, was when I was trying to send BTC to a client of mine from my Atomic wallet. He dropped me a human readable non-hexadecimal address to send to. I was confused at first. Had to reconfirm thrice and he laughed. Seems like only Atomic wallet offers this service at the moment. Ok! what's the heck?
I can't explain fully here what using Blockchain Domain looks like. Please take a 2 mins read here https://atomicwallet.io/unstoppable-blockchain-domains-guide.

The Ideology behind Blockchain domain says you can own a decentralized websites with an access using private key or keystore file free from censorship. it can hold your cryptos and other personal information with presumably high level security and privacy. As stated in the article, Blockchain Domain is free from centralized structure. If there is anything that got me astonished and confused, this is one. Looking at the analogy, I am skeptical how fast this will be adopted.

have the security level and privacy of that idea already tested?
It looks like for me if this idea ie very similar with ENS that already offered by ethereum. May i wrong about that?
https://ethgasstation.info/blog/what-is-ens/

As far as i know that works just to replace your address with the domain name that can be used to receive or send a coin. What you need to do to register your address first.

I don't see why it couldn't happen: in a world that increasingly personal freedom and civil rights are being reduced and trampled on, not depending on anyone for domain, DNS resolution and hosting will become necessary to move forward.

Interesting. Do you have any example of such Blockchain domain, like the example (alice.crypto) on that atomicwallet article?
Wish I could see how usable the domains are. I have seen similar domains in the past... they were not very portable but are still great stuff.

The Ideology behind it is good and tested years ago from Namecoin. Failed. (https://bitcointalk.org/?topic=6017.0)

IMO Blockchain Domain will NOT See a mass adoption.

Every previous attempt for non-ICANN, non-Standard DNS domains failed. You can't relly on <1% of the internet users (e.g. us, crypto fans) to spread it to mass adoption in a tech world.

Unstoppable domains are cool because you can use it to receive crypto,
and in future you will be able to create simple websites.
Domains are cheaper than at competition, and I think we can see adoption in future.
Again, it all depends on BTC wider adoption

i believe that slowly the use of domains related to the blockchain will extend but will never reach a mass / world level at least not in the immediate future but will remain a niche product used only by fans of the sector...

Do you see any complexity in using DNS as compared to traditional/existing one?

But I think DNS is independent of BTC itself. This is because it is not tied to BTC as base.

It is. Have you read through the link I posted? It was shown in one of the image. Also, I have seen several people using it on Atomicwallet. You may check atomiwallet page on twitter for more information.https://twitter.com/atomicwallet

Oops. That's swift conclusion. I could remember my old man used to say back then that "failure of an attempt does not mean another for another." Although adoption may take time, but I don't it would meant another failure attempt.

Blockchain domain, will not succeed , since the potential amount of users and customers will be so low, any infraestructure created will be non cost-effective and shut down quick.

Forget about that idea. Crypto is slowly dying. You cannot fight against banks and governments. And over all, you CANNOT FIGHT AGAINST PEOPLE GREED. Crypto is going down and will eventually go to 0.

BTC no more than 6k by end of 2019. ETH no more than 300$ by end 2019. Huge market manipulation, huge amount of scammers and hypers.

Having independent domain system sounds appealing (and I mean independent, not censorship-resistant which is an umbrella term used to denote some crypto-anarchists dreams and fantastic notions of the world).

But talking about unstoppable domains, they fall short of their promises of giving you "domains". They give you wallets, or domain-like addresses, but not real domains. Well, the only thing their so-called "domains" can do is point to some IPFS hash that hosts a static html page and redirect, which becomes accessible only if the user installs the browser extension. I have no idea what people paid their money for.

Somebody tried to find the solution, the guys at opennic.org give you the links to alternative DNS servers
