Session timed out while posting?

I have tried to use the search feature to find out the explanation of this case. Unfortunately, I just found out a single thread that was discussing it. To be honest, I am still not satisfied with that discussion. So, I still have a few questions related to this problem.

The questions:
1. Is this a common problem happened to everyone?
2. How long we should finish writing a post, so the notification does not appear?
3. What causes the problem exactly?
4. Does forum have a plan to remove the notification?

I'm guessing when you log in you don't change the "time to stay logged in" it's defualt is 60 minutes. So if you plan to sit down for longer than you should change it, for example I generally set it for 720, as I can come and go as I please during that 12 hour period.

I get this from time to time when I forget, the best thing to do is actually hit "back" in your browser and then go back and copy the post. Log in again then go paste the post and voila you are done. I've had it in the past say you've submitted this already and it was true and I've had it say the same and be false. So I just always double check.

Personally, before I knew how to do it, I sometimes lost my post content, and I have to retype it when facing with session time-out.

1. Always click on Preview button in order to have a back up of your post in draft page. You can see more in my topic - Draft page - Pros & Cons
2. If you don't do this (Preview button), there is another tut for you to get your post content back. Click on the backward button on your browser to get post content and use Refresh.
3. How to release contents when session time-out appears?
Copy your contents
Click on backward button to go back to previous page (the topic you want to release your post inside it).
Click on Reply button again
Paste the content (that you copied earlier) and click on Preview (just in case you need to use drafts later) and Post it.

I have done it, buddy. Usually, I changed to 300 minutes.

You are right. Yeah, it is one of the solutions got from the previous thread discussing about it. If we clicked the preview button, it will have a backup on the draft page.

I think It's because session cookies. When you create a topic or make a reply you create a link with a cookies code. when your code changes (every period,)  you need to rechange your old cookies code.
Don't worry. Click preview. Or Copy/paste your reply

I have experienced it a number of times when I want to reply to comments. I dont know what the problem is so a warning appears, but every time I write too long and when I want to post then I get the same warning.
I think writing too long in one session is a strong reason for me now so I want to tell you that a warning will appear when we spend 15-30 minutes or more in one writing session or when you have left the session too long before posting a reply.
I have tested it for you, this is exactly what you question. I left my posting session for 30 minutes. When I return, I get this warning when pressing the save button. I think you just have to avoid writing for too long.

This can happened one of them when we use the internet network from a mobile phone provider, where weather constraints still affect signal stability (in here). My advice (other than already mentioned above), if you want to make a long thread or post, always copy the draft and paste it onto notepad.
(Based on my experience when was using the blue provider)

In fact you don't have to copy-paste it into notepad. Just click "Preview" whenever needed and your text will be saved on forum servers for the next seven days.
If your text gets deleted while typing for one reason or another, just click the draft link and you will see your last saved drafts.


You can save up to 100 drafts.

Ermm Idk if its the same but this happens to me whenever I stay afk for a bit of time when I'm in the post page. I often forget to start typing and posting whenever I hit the reply button and occasionally, the same message appears for me.

Yea, I don't think it's an issue with the login time. I set mine to always logged in, so I doubt that's actually the issue.

Although I am confused. Does the issue affect you in any way? Like does it remove your entire post that was already type written? Cause in my case, if I did press post, and the notification appears, I just post it once more and the post goes through.

I faced this thing many times. Usually I get it when I leave my post open without publishing it for few hours. But it also happened several times when I was making few long post. Probably it took around 30 minutes to make post and when I clicked "post" button, I got this error.
I'm not sure what can be done to avoid it. It's just one of forum security features and only theymos can adjust these settings.

I think it has nothing with logged in time. I have "always stay logged in" and I'm still getting it.

Not only got a warning, if we use a computer or laptop, it probably is already off when leaving it 30 minutes. However, you are correct, avoid writing for a too long time, so that no such warning.

However, you are correct, avoid writing for a too long time, so that no such warning.     

It is okay if you want o write a huge wall of text which might take more than 30 minutes, even if the session timed out we will not lose our texts only thing will be asked to resubmit the post again once we get the warning.

Correct. For the safest way, I usually copied my post to notepad. So, I have a backup post and it only needs to copy-paste on a new reply space. This is one of the ways that I commonly used to prevent losing data.
