I will start hating altcoins only when bitcoin raise up to 20,000$ and altcoins fail to move up as well, many people are putting blames on altcoins today as if bitcoin is not in loss itself, the ATH of btc was 20k and now it's trading for 7,000+ thats like 12,000$ lost please how will this not affect other altcoins as well? Top altcoins will surely lose value as well, to me this present loss of altcoins are positive, look at coins like LTC, EOS, BNB, these coins are doing fine. You will only have problem if you invest in crap altcoins

yes, never take a short decision or judge cryptocurrency just because of a weak market situation, isn't the price of cryptoqurrency fluctuating? so I think this is normal. although almost all altcoins lose their value, that doesn't mean they will die. most of alts are created out of thin air with the premise of an "idea" to back up its value meanwhile this "idea" doesn't really mean anything at all. It's not a rocket science to understand that most of alts are prone to dumping and will hardly being pumped again meanwhile BTC with its more matured market have equal chance of increasing and decreasing its price. I do agree with your statement that BTC even in the bearish market could still drive some profit out of the circumstances.

Altcoin that's already has track record ( above 3 years ) has biggest chance to survive, we can see from market chart and progress news. But new altcoin ( below 3 years ) are really non sense, too much promotion but has no good progress in development program only create garbage. Altcoin only follow bitcoin, as long they has good progress in development and combine with another platform, the price and volume will running well. Market movement based buyer and seller transactions, so nothings wrong with altcoin.

But when BTC price increases in dollar value, other altcoins normally do same although mostly not with a wide margin. I also agree that we shouldn't just hold any altcoin for long term but ones with proven team transparency and devotion, and also good development. Also it's not so cool in my opinion holding so many altcoins waiting to see a positive outcome, it's better to draw a scale of preference and select a few for long term.
