Hello everyone,

Cryptoskill is a startup that develops multiplayer games with cryptocurrencies.
We are now launching our first game in beta version at https://cryptoskill.io.

Since it's still in beta version, we are still testing the game and the deposits/withdraw functionalities.
Everything seem to be working ok, but we need a little bit more people to test it out and make sure it's 100% functional before fully releasing it.

We just want to entertain people with fun multiplayer games, that's what this game (and future Cryptoskill games) is all about.
You can deposit bitcoins and litecoins (if you are feeling brave, since it's not 100% tested) or just deposit the test coin LTCT. You can get some coins from any ltct faucet, here's some: http://testnet.litecointools.com/ https://kuttler.eu/en/bitcoin/ltc/faucet/

We are planning on charging some fees to pay for the servers and maybe to allow us to go full-time at Cryptoskill, but no fees are charged for the time being as we are just putting the platform open to the public for testing.
In case of failures you can always use the support that is currently in New Year mode, so do not bother much! (Jk, bother us all you want. We want to know your opinions and we want to make this game better and more enjoyable)

That's a good and very important question.
I could give you the talk about trust and that we would never cheat (and that's all true )  but we've went even further than that.

All communications between your browser and our servers are encrypted. I'm not just talking about HTTPS, the hands that you play are encrypted in your browser before sending them to our servers. A new key is generated for every match and it stays in your browser only until both players have played, in which case the game is locked and becomes irreversible. The key is also sent over along with the hand the first time you play, this is done to validate the hand and it is deleted immediately afterwards.

Even if our database leaked, no one would be able to see your hand because it's stored in an encrypted state and you, the players, are the only ones that have the key.

If you have any suggestion about how we could make this more transparent, feel free to tell us

I hate to break it you but there is no way of proving this since your code isn't opensource. So your idea won't go that far with the crypto community. The very reason no one does Crypto Multiplayer Games is the very issue of trust. You never know when the House can make up bot accounts and "scam/screw" their users. Heck, they don't even need the bot, a dev can screw over legit players for the mere fact they will know what player has chosen already. Your only option is PvH (Player vs House) with a Server + Client seed model else its a mere waste of time on your end... Many people have tried and failed and you don't want to do the same thing...

Indeed, the initial lack of players will be challenging. We already implemented bots to test our system, we could use them now to bootstrap the website and apply a provably fair algorithm.
But in reality, we only need two players online at all times, we (the devs) could do that ourselves. We'd just need to invest some capital for the losses hahah

About those "Server + Client seed model", you can't be sure about any of that unless their code is open source either. Aside from that, when you deposit bitcoins in most websites, those bitcoins will belong to the website owners since they'll go directly into their wallets. There are some cleaver ways to mitigate this, by using smart contracts but most people do it the old database way to reduce costs (and hassle).
There is a way to do what you are saying and keeping the multiplayer feature, we'd have to write everything as an open source smart contract, where anyone can clearly see the "safeness" of eveything. But unfortunately, we are not interested in re-writing all of our code right now
Either way, that's something to think about for any future projects.

You are right I was mistaking it for something else. We'll read more about that to see possible future applications, thanks for the info.

About the game: yes, by using seeds from a trustless source, the game itself will become trustless (if properly developed), but if you look at the bigger picture, you are still trusting the website owner with you bitcoins. Anyone can just close up shop and take all your coins.
Building this kind of trust is difficult, specially for people that are just starting in the crypto world. We want to create that trust by building good and responsive games where people can have fun.
I'm sure that there are a lot of people that share your opinion and that don't want to be part of this website now when things are still fresh, and that's ok. We'll keep working on this and hopefully, you'll reconsider in the future.

There were some similar sites in the past which were providing the same multiplayer game but all of them unable to survive because it is hard to attract players although they have done some promotions.
PvP based game is a big challenge for the owner of the sites to manage and to survive. Hopefully this site wont be just the same as the previous dead sites due to lack of players.
The community here is always welcome for a new casino, but it does not mean that people will be interested to play. This the the hard homework for the owner.

The design is nice and simple, but for me, Rock-Paper-Scissors is about a rhythmic 3-step action at the end of which people show their results. They shake their fists two times simultaneously and then they show what they choose for the third time. Without this animation, the game looks very limited, it's like something essential is missing. And I know that in the end, the result is what matters but the process allows to enjoy the game, and here there's not process... And it's true that a PvP only game is a tough challenge for the team because when there aren't enough people on the website all the time, it makes it annoying for a small number of people who want to use the website to wait for someone to appear and play with them. You should consider running a signature campaign on this forum if you're serious about promoting the website. And why not allow to play against computer as the demo allows? This way you could also gain profits when the computer wins.

Yes, that will be on of the most challenging tasks that we'll face, but unfortunately, it's partially out of our hands. In the end, the users will decide if this game is worth it or not.

Asking for identity is a way to do it but unfortunately we won't be doing this as we want a fast interaction with the game.
We will, however, include some warnings in some parts of the website (some of which are already present). We know this might not do much but it's the best that we can do at this time.
In the future we can explore a more "strict" procedure, but we'll go with the warnings for the time being.

We'll explore the implementation of such animation in the future. As you say, it'll be way more fun and enjoyable.
We have thought about running a bot but some issues have been raised with this approach. As for the profit part, we wouldn't be gaining that much money (if any) since there's a 50% change of winning/losing. The focus of this game is to be a fun and fast paced website where users can get together and compete (and with some luck, win some coins )

We are currently creating a new game that we think will have a much bigger impact than rock paper scissors (hopefully it will). It will be way more fun and yes, there's a bugger skill curve.

Indeed it's not the most simple of tasks. One way to do it would be to implement some kind of recaptcha to filter out bots, but even then, we could bypass this by adding some kind of secret button or something like that.
We are still exploring our options and we're trying to figure out what is the best way of tackling this. For the time being, we can only say that all information is encrypted right up to the moment when both players have played. This is done not only to prevent our team from cheating, but also to prevent any malicious user who has acquired database access (through legitimate or illegitimate means).

As long as the game is provably fair where the owner is unable to manipulate the result then it is not a big problem if players are playing against the owner/team of the site as well as against bot. The most important thing is the result imho, if you can verify the result then it is enough. It is normal when the team open some game on the site so players can play the game without waiting for other real players. It is one of the ways to attract players, as if there is no open game on the site then people who visit it for the first time will be doubt to come back.

Kids are normally not allowed to gamble in most places (even with the anonymity of fiats) for good . They usually act on impulses and can get easily addicted. It depends on what site are we talking about since if they have a license to operate well those things are pretty much necessary to do so that they have a protection for the kids so that they will be away for some exploit and other danger beneath the gambling addiction. Well it will never be a good idea to give your details for something's that you are not sure with but if this one created for the child protection maybe it's really necessary to implement that to this site nor good to see this one the other to so that kids will be away for exploit and other abuse from gambling, but for now I will not give any details if the site is new the same on this site since they need to fix the missing information in the FAQ before the people will trust them.

It is normal when the team open some game on the site so players can play the game without waiting for other real players. It is one of the ways to attract players, as if there is no open game on the site then people who visit it for the first time will be doubt to come back.

We are exploring the options to create a bot that plays against players if they wait more than a given amount of seconds. This bot would have to implement a provably fair algorithm and we are thinking about using a blockchain with fast block times, like Ripple, and using the block's hash as a seed for the random selection of hands. Users could easily verify that the next block's hash right after their play was used as the seed for the bot's random number generator.

There is no minimum withdraw, but the users pays the tx fee for some coins and a 0.5% fee due to the payment gateway that is being used. These coins do not go to us, they go the the payment provider that we are currently using.
We should clarify this a bit more in the FAQ and in the deposit/withdraw dialogs.
As for the "under maintenance" message, our cloud provided reserved a few minutes to do a health check on the servers. Everything should be back now

Even if you forbid kids from playing games, they still do it. By getting a fake ID or use their parent's or friend's. All we can do is setup warning about underage players or apply strict verifications.
Currently we don't see the "strict" way as an option, at least for now, as it increases the time and complexity between the user creating and account and actually playing the game. Since we are just starting, we want this to be as fast as possible.
But yes, we will update the FAQ with information regarding underage restrictions. That's the direction we'll take for now.

But I would like to see more from this since I like the concept but the site is pretty much questionable for now.

Wow, pretty impressive, I liked the game very much and seems playing it online is more fun than playing it in real life, at least your website proved like that for me. Can you spoil us what will be the next game? I suggest you to add games like soccer where 1 player kicks the ball and 2nd one catches, then they swipe the roles, I guess you understand what I meant. Also change website's template to attract more people, game's UI is nice, just design needs to be improved. Do you plan to add affiliate on your website?

Good concept I remember the day when wap forum was popular it has a rock paper scissor games also a PVP but the disadvantages of multiplayer if thers no online player you cannot play the game.

Wow, pretty impressive, I liked the game very much and seems playing it online is more fun than playing it in real life, at least your website proved like that for me. Can you spoil us what will be the next game? I suggest you to add games like soccer where 1 player kicks the ball and 2nd one catches, then they swipe the roles, I guess you understand what I meant. Also change website's template to attract more people, game's UI is nice, just design needs to be improved. Do you plan to add affiliate on your website?

The next games will be a PvP multiplayer like this one, but players need to have considerably more skills to play and strategies to win the game compared to rock paper scissors.

Good concept I remember the day when wap forum was popular it has a rock paper scissor games also a PVP but the disadvantages of multiplayer if thers no online player you cannot play the game.
But I'm happy that you will create a bot that play to the player but how can we assure that this bot is 100% fair?.

We are studying the current ways to make the bot provably fair. One way to do it is by using the block hashes from a blockchain with small block times like Ripple or EOS as the seed for our random number generator.
The block's hash used should be the one that was generated right after the user played. This way, the seed is out of our control and thus, provably fair.
User can also verify this by going to the block explorer of said blockchain and checking the result after using our PRNG with the hash.

This game made me remember my childhood days as we play this game but small time bets for kids like candies, chocolates and other stuffs that a kid will have. It's really a nice thing to see that we have games like this and don't you have plan to add an Ai if ever there's a time a user plays and there's no other player around?

also if you can add doge in your list of crypto, aside from btc, ltc, ltct. there are a lot of players that are more comfortable in using their doge. the tx fee is quite low also.

Since this site is focusing on muliplayer skill based game where the game is player vs player, better to focus on this first game first.
Adding new games need more money to execute especially if the new games are vs house games.

I know this is just a demo version but it seems that I only won few times out of those more than ten plays that I've made. Did somebody already played the game with their real deposits? Looks like the latest games came from the testing of op.

I don't think this bot will be fair at constant performance, there's always a discrepancy along the period of playing activities. Somehow the advantage might be felts comfortable, but we need to become more responsible so in learning to play the gambling process should be learn as if no bots at all is involved.

Nice response, developing new games requires more money. This is our first one to have a first impression of users playing multiplayers games.

The demo version doesn't interact with real plays, the demo is just so users can test the game and see how it works. By doing the login and deposit some coins, or just test with LTCT coin, you can see the latest games on scoreboard.
