Added auto-fan option in 2.6.6.
You can select "Auto" from the fan menu in settings.
It's experimental, please give your feedback.

First 5 minutes the fan speed set to 60% and can not go down, then it starts going up and down based on temperature.
The algorithm goes up very fast (10% every 10 seconds) if some ASICs above 120c, and down very slow (1% every 10 seconds) if all ASICs under 115c.

If it misbehaves for you let me know.

Also appears that it won't take the fan any higher than 80% on Auto. I have one I was running at 90% fan and set it to auto and loop 4 is yellow 120 and the fan has been at 80% for a while now.

That is true.
If you use your miner to maximal settings in hot envoronment don't use the auto - auto is only good when you are under-clocking.

would be nice to change the start point of the option. for underclockers, starting at 60% and waiting almost 10 minutes for it to creep down to 10-15% might be excessive, and a 20% or 40% start option would be good
I prefer to keep it high, since if the ASICs will hit 125 before the fan increases it will start downscaling voltage, and go into misbehaving. But then, since this feature should be used when under-clocking only, I guess I can move it to 50%

I'm glad you guys like my idea about scheduling Smiley
@zvisha: would temperature/frequency changes from scheduling have and significant negative effects on the hardware? Ive always stuck to the concept of 'if its working, dont change it' because some computer hardware does not handle significant and repeated temperature/vltage changes very well.
I don't expect it will, since the HW changes rate all the time. I will see how hard it is and we might do this one. Most complication is in the UI, to enable cron to change /etc/mg_custom_rate and restart minergate.

Thanks, that part works well, I have one under-clocked a few feet from my desk and Auto has taken the fan down to 19%.

could it be possible to gather the firmware suggestions in a list and edit that list and extend?

- true fan speed control by target temp
- scheduling certains mining speeds(voltages)
- individual voltage limits as right now for the back chips
- Timezone "bug"? first page graphs are always UTC?
- enable API in own subnet/net by web interface
- include fan speed in API datasets
- change host name in web interface
- other pool options than failover only
- sum of PSU(unknown) input watts in addition to DC2DC watts, either on ASIC Stats page or main page, as for estimate of power at wall or PSU efficiency
- Graphs on the first webguy page, there should be a button to disable some/all of them.
- Poll page could be managed on the front page with up&down buttons on each pool
- GUI switches to turn off SSH would also be a good thing, plus for advanced users some sort of iptables in the OS for security.
- show ASIC Stats

Pools can be dragged to change order.

Will be available in advanced settings from 2.6.7

Great!

- scheduling certains mining speeds(voltages)

is going to be a huge help

- true fan speed control by target temp
- scheduling certains mining speeds(voltages)  <- will try to implement
- individual voltage limits as right now for the back chips <- will consider
- Timezone "bug"? first page graphs are always UTC? <- will consider
- enable API in own subnet/net by web interface <-  common! change /etc/cgminer.conf.template with ssh
- include fan speed in API datasets <- not likely, use remote ssh to change /etc/mg_custom_rate
- change host name in web interface
- other pool options than failover only <- common! change /etc/cgminer.conf.template with ssh
- sum of PSU(unknown) input watts in addition to DC2DC watts, either on ASIC Stats page or main page, as for estimate of power at wall or PSU efficiency <- will implement in 2.6.7. For sp20 I assume 90% efficiency
- Graphs on the first webguy page, there should be a button to disable some/all of them. <- you can reset them with a button. Disable them in /etc/cron.d with ssh
- Poll page could be managed on the front page with up&down buttons on each pool
- GUI switches to turn off SSH would also be a good thing, plus for advanced users some sort of iptables in the OS for security. <- Use big random password  from UI to disable it. Will consider adding iptables.

iptables does not have any sane reason to be installed on it .. It's a miner, not a router.
I'd add a switch to disable the GUI via ssh Smiley like a symlink to etc/init.d/lighttpd stop ..

Why is the maximum fan speed limited to 80% in auto mode?

Changed to 90% just in case.
100% fan utilisation I prefer not to do, it's not that efficient, and not needed. If you need over 80% fans, the autofan logic will just confuse the miner, the autofan should only be used for undervolted miners.

Does the fan RPM show in the output from cgminer now?

Can I set it/can it go below 20% now w/o a SSH hack?

Thanks.

You can see real fan speed in ASIC stats, it's a bit complicated to move it to front page - I will need to dump it to separate file from minergate and I am too lazy for that.
Yes, you can set it to 10% or to AUTO that can take it down even to 6% if no ASIC reaches 120C.

Thanks for implementing my request. The interface reported fanspeed reading zero (which others have reported) is the only issue I can see. It does appear to keep temperatures <= 115. I understand why you set it to static for the first 5 minutes but I doubt you actually need to do that. You could probably just set the target temperature for the first 5 minutes to 110/105 instead, and that will then also be safe for ones that aren't underclocked as well.

Really like the auto fan feature, thanks  Cheesy  now all the units fan run between 6-8% much more quieter than before where the lowest was 20 (without using the ssh trick)  Grin

Did someone tune up the spondoolies hosted miners?

http://eligius.st/~wizkid057/newstats/userstats.php/1Adam3usQMbQWScA5AXnnDsRMeZeCh6ovu

my 4x sp10 hashrate jumped from ~6TH to ~ 7.5TH?  (Which'd be a very nice hashrate at 1.85 TH/sp10 vs 1.4-1.5TH advertised).

Maybe someone accidentally configured another one for my payout address during a reshuffle or config change?
