Even more powerful.  Bitfurys new  Georgia mine. Also surprising  is they estimate  40% of all bitcoins  mined are using  their chips.   I guess their  new venture into immersion  technology  will give them another leg up.

I was thinking about this today.  I was around when the first great halving occurred.  Now, like most small miners, I'm barely scraping by.  If things don't change drastically, the next great halving will drive me out.

Can the big guys cover the bills at the next halving? Payroll, taxes, facility up keep, Security?

halving is still a ways off, and anyone whose able to mine a decent profit before it will probably continue to do so after (likely 25-30% of the hashrate will turn off whent he halving occurs due to no longer being profitable) - the difficulty will adjust in accordance with the halving and BTC value at the time

While the BitFury Mining Center article is interesting, it is from August of 2014. It explicitly mentions CoinTerra as a competitor and it's planned Canada data center. Things can and do change a lot in the 6 months since that article was written (e.g. the exit of CoinTerra). I personally expect the next halving to be a fairly disruptive event.

Don't compare BitFury with ConTerra. Bitfury had a 110GH/s rig back in the FPGA days when miners were having <1Th/s rigs. Plus the fact that they received tons of money from investors. Much over what ConTerra raised.

future....? or is it just going to be hosting options (recommended) and/or cloud mining from here on?

Not really mixed up, it's just that a bunch of them were working on them, and then didn't / didn't put them on the market.
Bitmain was going to make the Antminer L1, but cancelled that.
BitFury... ah, BitFury.. love 'm, but no idea why they wouldn't just stick to Bitcoin, really

Spondoolies did confirm plans back in june of 2014, and later somebody mentioning it was supposed to be slated for Q4 2014 (but that might have been the PickAxe).  That time came and went, and given the Scrypt landscape, I'm not sure what the best time for introduction would be even if they've got the design or even the chips ready to go.

Hijacking this question only to say that even if they do exit the retail / home miner market, I hope they'll still be willing to deliver chips to whomsoever wants to plunk down the money for some (and willing to sign the NDAs).
That way companies like TechnoBit (I know that name provokes love/hate emotions, thankfully there's pre-existing threads for that) can continue to design miners around the chips that are home miner-friendly (as they have done with the RockerBox/DICE). As long as one understands that home mining is not particularly likely to be profitable for the end user.

I totally agree on that its becoming a small group who will be left mining and it might hurt bitcoin that it evolves this way.
But again we can not say whats going to happen, but it sure looks like a few massive miner groups will be left.
I know some are huge chinese miners who have still access to cheap electricity.
But i think china will in time become much more expenssive because of the massive profits they made in the last decade.

The scrypt market of hardware is kinda dead, nobody is offering those 1 and 2  Gh miner boards some have developed.
And ofcourse the massive amount of the 200+ Mh machines being sold makes this not very attractive business for sales.
Anyone who wants to step into this market needs to figure out how they got such an advantage.
Also you can not buy these boards as far as i know, so nobody can copy the tech they have.
And finding a better solution would cost alot of money and would probably again beaten by those who have the high speed boards already.
But we will see what happens, it might be a good time for make a few extra coins
I guess many will leave the crypto coin world if they find out nothing can be gained other than by trading.
 
So in the long run its probably again a few very large miners who will dominate that market.

I think that is  one of the keys. The chinese are. not cutting  edge but they can ramp up production  quickly any new design  and they can build at cost.  I am imagining huge  warehouses full of under volted  chips  at 1 generation back using company  or  government subsidised electricity.

Do I simply let this post prompt someone at SP-tech respond?

What reporting or screen shots can I provide to help tech support solve this problem?

Is there a few quick things I can check myself before escalating this to SP-tech support?
