Not that I don't like Spondoolies, but I have yet to get 1.4T out of any of my non-spondoolies hosted miners, maybe 1.2T.

That's why I said my spondoolies hosted miners hash at 1.4T because they are on 208v-240V. But here in America, it is common to run off of 120v. Now, everything is fine if I run it all in the datacenter, but what if the hosting fee becomes too much based on BTC prices and I just want to take them back and put them in some back room at the office? As in it makes a small margin of profit running them myself without hosting, but pay hosting fees wouldn't be profit anymore at that point. Maybe everyone else doesn't think this way or have this concern...

While others may not have the concern, I was also asking this same type of information about the SP30s a few months ago. We were excited to hear about the product, but I didn't end up recommending it to my company (and others interested in it) because they couldn't tell me the hash on 120v which I thought was strange.  They said it could operate on 120v, but could not disclose hash rate to me.  Honestly, I also had in mind that antminer will come out with an S4 based on their S3 design. I don't want to go around explaining to people who bought these that they have to take them out of the datacenter, but can't run them anywhere except if they have 208V-240V service.

In the SP10 firmware, there's an option to ignore or modify the power limit when running on 115V. You should only do this if you have a thicker-than-normal cable between the PSU and the wall (12 awg preferred, but 14 awg might be okay too).

OK, interesting, please send me the information and prices. Right now the SP10s are doing OK so far in Israel (fingers crossed), but just thinking about the day when its not worth the electricity anymore, then I would be running off 110v somewhere when forced to run at a negative cash flow. I think we have a total about about 10++ SP10s in various places, but they are all not mine.

I have a 14AWG wire, and 20amp dedicated outlet for each. By mistake one time I grabbed a 10amp cord, I was puzzled that even though the SP10 was pulling just 1000W, the cord was super hot. I guess not all chords are created equal. What does unlocking the voltage do to the heat. I have my fans set on 90% constant. How to do the voltage/option hack, in the GUI or only in the config file?

Yet another company shows that smaller process node isn't necessarily that much better. Every one so far as failed to meet simulated results due to power/heat.

to be fair  antminer s-3's fell short.     441 gh vs 478 gh  but the watt per hash was on spot around .75 watts a hash.


if the sp30 does close to the .46-.50 watt mark and hashes at 4.8th  it will not be the end of the world.

  a 20 percent refund for 20 percent hash shortage does fix the issue.

The key is do they come close to the .46-.50 watt mark.

  If it can't do .65 watts  it would be a really big problem.

Your only telling half the story, the Bitmain Ant miner S3 did come up short at 441G, but they offered coupons and refunds for the difference in hash rate. It's not like they tried to pull a fast one. Honestly, their hash rate is spot on in my opinion. Not that I don't like Spondoolies, but I have yet to get 1.4T out of any of my non-spondoolies hosted miners, maybe 1.2T.

I thought that I implied bitmaintech offered a coupon/refund by saying if  spondoolies offers a refund all will be fine.

but after reading my post again I can see what you got from it.

I will go back and write my post more clearly.

BTW the sp30 may have 2 issues
A) underhash
B) over watts  per gh
that call for a more complex fix for compensation then the s-3's  .

Well lets compare to cpu world. Intel chip for example. Ivy bridge to haswell. Extremely negligible gain, not really even worth the sunk cost of RD. From consumer perspective not even worth the upgrade. Any diff in the bitcoin world, i think not.

CPU performance scaling is limited by other factors than just process node, if you want to compare performance progression over node history take a look at GPUs since they are more similar to mining gear (can just add more cores for improved performance so much better scaling with node shrinks). Beside Ivy and Haswell are both on 22nm and Intel was mainly focusing on performance/w and GPU performance.

yeah I know you keep telling me and you are right but I was so excited , i currently only have a  small 18 GPU farm I've stayed away from all the bit coin            preorders and such , but After their success with the SP10 I finally succumbed and pre ordered for Aug and Sept.  Even if it hashes at 5.4 TH or even 5 i will be happy to be in the BTC mining game .. thus my irrational impatience

Yeah, 'chill'.  Seriously, they know what they are doing.  They will deliver on time and on spec.  You can take that uncertainty out of the equation.

I have faith in Sponds as well, but 'in time and on spec.' is a little bold given Guys' prompt revelation ... on time yes, they have promised that ... but the issue they have is the hash rate, it looks like it won't be as advertised and that is what we are all waiting patiently to hear about.

They will of course, have been burning the midnight oil for a few days thrashing this one out, and trying so many different things to max the SP30 with the chips they have received.

240V is easy to install in offices/homes that have 2-phase service. 208V is also very common in almost all office buildings that have thier own 600V->120/208 transformer, though there may not be wiring installed for it.

Its common knowledge that power supplies are more efficient and capable of higher outputs when running at 200V or higher, and I personally have converted all my operating hardware to run at 213V for this reason. Paying a few hundred to install the wiring and outlets will pay off in the long run from that increase in efficiency 9and in the case of SP10s, the additional hashrate)

I have bought 6 SP10s (some from the May batch too) and on 208V they are averaging over 1.4 TH/s and stable.   Crazy stable.   Like the Jupiters after you got all the bugs out. 
I think they have done an impressive job.   I bought these for my kids to have miners but I would definitely consider buying more for my own use.

Its not profitable I just Speculate on coins here an there probbaly make just enough to pay my electricity and in the winter it cools my house.

I just need the mounting ears for a standard data center 2U rack mount. Not sure what you call them. That seems like a ton of heat for an Apartment. I use air cooling in a Large Garage I pay for and its quite warm with 4000KW. Unless your Apartment is very Large?

I'm basically just curious, seems like a lot of power for an Apartment I guess.
