i still need SP Tech to confirm the the power consumption is actually accurate.

I have compared the readings from my SP30s' power supplies to measurements from my PDUs. The AC power consumption metric is accurate for SP30s with Emerson PSUs. It is usually not accurate for Murata PSUs. The DC power is accurate for both. If you have a Murata PSU, you can estimate your AC consumption by taking the DC consumption and dividing by .92 (if you're on 240V), about .91 if you're on 208V, and about .89 if you're on 115V. Note: I've only measured the 240V efficiency myself; the .91 and .89 numbers are guesses based on what I've seen and read for other power supplies. The PSUs in the SP10s are similar in efficiency to the Murata PSUs in the SP30s.

You're misunderstanding the meaning of the voltage settings. Those are only initial voltages. The SP30 firmware will adjust the voltages, mostly over the first 30 minutes of operation, in order to optimize performance. If you want to reduce the power consumption of an SP30, you can either reduce the maximum voltage (not recommended), or you can reduce the maximum wattage of each PSU (much better method).

Kill-A-Watts systematically underestimate the power consumption of PSUs with active power factor correction. Do not rely on them for anything important. The issue seems to be that Kill-A-Watts don't actually integrate power consumption in analog, they just sample instantaneous voltage and current and digitally integrate. I've seen them underestimate miners' consumption by 15% before on Cointerras.

How to read PSU power consumption lines? First go to the ASIC Stats page, and look for a line like this:

Code:
PSU[EMERSON1200]: 1504->1328w[1328 1324 1320] (->1356w[1356 1356 1356]) (lim=1330) 0c cooling:0/0x20004000

1504 is the AC power consumption, in watts. This number is accurate for Emerson PSUs, and inaccurate about 50% of the time for Murata PSUs. 1328w is the 12V DC power consumption in watts. The three numbers following that are the last three 12V DC measurements taken. The stuff immediately after in parentheses is something I don't understand. The last number (lim=1330) is the DC power limit in effect. Usually, this will be what you have set in the Settings page, but if you're on a low voltage (208V or less) it may be lower than that, and if you're using a Murata PSU with version 2.4.20 or later, it will be capped at 1300W.

I'm considering buying some SP-20. Has anybody an idea if this PSU would work with it:

http://www.gekko-computer.de/Stromversorgung/IBM_Server-Netzteil_xSeries_445_1200W_-_74P4354_i19_373_0.htm

If you want to host it with us (we have shelf space available in one week!), we should be able to provide power supplies for you for a reasonable price. We've modded server PSUs to work with Antminer S3s before. We've also got a few spare ATX PSUs.

So I got my partial refund for the GB sp30. And a few hours later the bitcoin price falls 5%,  Undecided

You think maybe that was not a coincidence? That the price fell because many people who just got their refund sold the btc?

Any update about the SP31 deliveries? I expect these units will be delivered in the days to come; Is this the case?

I am waiting too... I was told that it was shipping at the end of the month.  What is up with the delays?

Noob-question:

http://www.gekko-computer.de/Stromversorgung/IBM_Server-Netzteil_xSeries_445_1200W_-_74P4354_i19_373_0.htm

At this point I'd suggest waiting to see some updates from Spondoolies...  Been pretty quiet lately and no SP20's have shipped yet with 9 days left in October.

Why is it Spondoolies can take the time to put up a bullshit post congratulating someone but refuses to update those that are PAYING THEIR DAMN BILLS??

You guys need to get your priorities straight.  AND HOW ABOUT AN UPDATE ON THE SP-20 WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO BE SHIPPING IN THE NEXT 8 DAYS?

It's also very discouraging to see people trying to figure out their units months after they've been shipped.  I've never seen such a clusterfuck of a support thread.

Don't trust any exchange!

Hey guys... When can we expect October Batch 1 shipping?  Now they are shipping at the end of October?  Why is that?  How long will shipping be to Canada once it leaves the door in Israel?

Thanks

Where in Canada?  My SP30 came from Tel-Aviv to Toronto in 3 days ..and DHL needed another 2 days for customs clearance. One day in the middle was "Labour day" .. heh.
Overall, it was shipped Wednesday, August 27, 2014, and I had it mining Wednesday, September 03, 2014.

Good to know - located in Winnipeg, MB here....  I was hoping the shipping would not take like 10+ days.   I still want to know why there are delays.  We made this purchase in the first few days of September.

To hell with it order #3056.  Will order more Sp20s when this ships.

So, let me get this straight. The currently listed specs for the SP20 show it to be the least profitable miner out of the crop being currently sold. Spondoolies was supposed to post better specs to hopefully make the miner catch up a bit to the competition. They completely failed to do so, failed to post any updates about when the new products will start shipping and posted some irrelevant nonsense instead. And now you want to order more SP20s - a product that was terrible value when first announced and offers even worse value now?

What's the rationale behind that?

Its funny because I just realized they are getting ready to ship, so I shot over the the site with the intentions on buying one but when I saw the price I just laughed out loud.

I like to gamble.

Edit plus was at Bitcoin Las Vegas.  I don't meet and greet I just observe.

Edit If you really want to look inside my brain I charge 250 an hour. I live in Vegas and picked up 10 btc at 265 a pop few weeks ago. I am burning the profit baby.

They were too busy celebrating Holidays and spending your pre order money. It's not rocket science.
