Created the youtube video since some of the guys wanted to hear the story from the horses mouth.
https://youtu.be/cNIcG4titWg

Short story: Lost 2.81 BTC on Christmas Eve morning to a 5000 BTC (fake) Coinbase giveaway on Youtube.
$27,000 Canadian. -A lot of money for a guy like me...

I watched it and then took part that morning thinking it was some sort of Christmas Eve give away to entice the community to spread word during christmas.. IT ALL MADE SENSE that morning.
I fell right into the trap for a few reasons I share in the video.

If anything, take this story and safeguard yourself. I mention this in a few ways in the video so its educational to some degree.

Thanks for reading/watching.
-Dan from BC, Canada.

This part of your post makes it harder for me to believe your story, though that's just my opinion. There are so many ways people use to seek for funds from others on the forum(though they never get one),and this is one of them.

If you're asking for a refund or some sort of help, you're not likely to get it here, and if you truly lost money to a fake Youtube giveaway scam, then it's your fault and you should learn from that error, we all are responsible for our own security.

There are so many scams out there and we should be very careful not to lose money because of some scams.
I had such experience in some HYIYP investments but at one moment decided to give up from it and never come back.
If you can't verify some info better stay away.
Btw if you expect any  financial help here I think you are in the wrong place.

Tell me about it... Great way to bring in the new year.

Anyway, Ill post a video here shortly.
Im not a scammer, I was fooled into something youtube promoted to my account and I fell victim to that thinking it was an official coinbase account and they were doing a christmas eve giveaway.
I'll outline it in the video... Yes i posted an address. I just lost 27k dude.

_snip_....Yes i posted an address. I just lost 27k dude.
Whose address is this?
Instead of you posting a new address to expect donations, you better post your previous address (which holds the bitcoin you claimed) and scammer address. That will make me a little trusting and may be a clue to everyone to investigate it like in this thread.

This space for rent.

That address that you posted has not received or sent any Bitcoins > https://blockstream.info/address/149ahef6CbbRPGgYsr6SkETUTRYDfpYMbY
What is the address from where you sent those 2.81 BTC from?

If you truly lost money, I am sorry that it happened. But you are aware that anyone can make a video and post it on Youtube. If Coinbase had such a giveaway they would post information about it on their official site and social media, email their users etc.

Very sorry to hear you lost money to the scammers I have seen a lot of crypto give away videos on there that seems to be just pre-recorded footage being played I saw one that was targeted at Binance users that asked them to send funds to a "gift" address and depending on what they sent they would get additional funds back.

I'm afraid there is nothing coinbase will do to help you and there is no way to recover you funds i'm afraid.

You should note than ALL these giveaway's or send coins to us for more coins back is just too good to be true and should be avoided at all cost.

I would report the video to youtube if I was you and ask them to submit it to the Police for further investigation.
You should also report this scam to your local police office it may not help you get your funds back but it may lead to the arrest of the people behind the scam.

Sorry for your loss and good luck.

It seems that the new update to Twitter has created a loophole for these people to reach the largest number of people.
I found a lot of live broadcast videos that I was not following, suddenly asking me to send money and looking legitimate.
For newbies, this may seem correct, but you will lose your money by investing in these projects.

Sorry for your loss, I hope you make a video that forces YouTube to adjust the new updates.

How the hell do you lose 2.81BTC if it's such a big deal for you, as you claim?

Don't get me wrong, I feel for you, if your claims are true. But I don't understand what you want to achieve with the new BTC address in your post?
Are you looking for donations or what? I hope you are aware that begging is forbidden in this forum.

Look, I am really sorry to break it to you, but with this approach you look like just another scammer... You better show us some evidence or the scammers address where your bitcoins ended.

I often see some live crypto videos on YouTube which have thumbnails saying btc, ETH giveaways. Which plays recorded crypto conferences maybe that's the thing that scams you. But basically those schemes are so old and easy to to know and didn't think there's still people falling into it.

I'd probably revise your title to add that it was a fake Coinbase giveaway. Currently it looks like you're actually saying Coinbase stole your money.

If ever the OP is just trolling then don't bother to troll too, unless you are way more serious about this donation of yours. I just checked the address and still nothing in there as you claim you have send a 0.3 btc on that address. If ever that's true but still I'm in doubt then that's generous of you.

This story doesn't add up to me at all. Who the hell sends 2.81 BTC to a fake giveaway, comes here begging for donation and doesn't even show as proof of the 2.81 BTC TXID and when asked to provide it, you can clearly see that OP is trying to be dodgy and buying sometime and then out of nowhere Flangler comes claiming that he has donated 0.3BTC to the provided address, perhaps trying to make other members also start donating.

What a dumb move... because the address still has no single transaction in it
https://blockstream.info/address/149ahef6CbbRPGgYsr6SkETUTRYDfpYMbY

Why is Flanger doing this?
What are the chances the Flangler is an alt of OP?

For now, i feel like tagging Flangler for this kind of deceptive act. Such a person can not be trusted. This is not the forum where you come and play this kind of stupid begging and donation games.

Yeah,
It happened.

I searched the BTC address and its clearly coming up as a scam address on google and I read about these 1Bas addresses in another thread somewhere that was flagging scams. (Too bad this was way after the fact)
I didn't think this through when I was doing it and rushed into it believing that it was coinbase.

There were no multiple scam videos except for the one that prompted me and then another ethereum on.
Both had 1500+ viewers where the video just started and was about 10-15mins in. They marketed their videos extremely well which is kind of scary for new users.

While I was going through the process, I noticed another litecoin promo video come up with Charlie Lee as I mentioned, so in my head i kept feeding into the idea that they want to promote crypto and get folks talking on Christmas Break.. The idea in my head was that they're spending a little, giving back, to get the market moving again. (It seriously made a lot sense to me for those reasons)

Had there been multiple scam videos running this never would of happened. Totally duped into sending it on my end and I really feel that youtube is sort of responsible for it.
I believe they had been removing scam videos because when I check now, there's tons of them.

This was the SCAM address for your knowledge: 1Bas47macjTth3P6sBqUtXVF2ER9zYZnVh

*If anything take my lesson, and dont be fooled. Think twice, and check your bases. ***Don't rush into something regardless of being short on time.
**There isnt anyone refunding you like a credit card company that would get involved here.
