So my old trezor stopped working. (The web wallet asks me for the pin but screen is blank )

I needed to call for a new one and owing to Corona virus delivery from the official website will take 2-3 weeks with ups delivery. So I wanted to know how reliable and safe it is to call for a new trezor from the official resssler of the region/amazon page.

Have you checked if there's a shop in your country from the reseller's list? https://trezor.io/resellers/

If yes, maybe you can ask on the computer hardware board. They're not "official resellers" but maybe you can find reputable sellers there. You can use escrow too.

I suggest you to contact their support for the solution and more information about these resellers thing.
Ask them to give you a reseller recommendation where you can buy for your region/country.
that recommendation can be a guarantee if you have any problem regarding their recommendation.

Don’t buy from non-official sources please, they could easily be bugged to steal your bitcoin once you upload them to the device. It really isn’t worth the risk, if you have to wait 2-3 weeks for the official website to deliver then so be it.

So I wanted to know how reliable and safe it is to call for a new trezor from the official resssler of the region/amazon page.

The fact that those resellers were listed on Trezor's official website, then you can bet they are reliable*.

Not sure about those stores on Amazon though.

But either way, I prefer to buy on the official website for assurance. 2-3 weeks of waiting shouldn't be a problem.

If you don't see the name of that seller on Trezor's official resellers' list, don't trust them. You can find some sellers that are not on the official list but you're okay trusting them? well, I don't.

So my old trezor stopped working. (The web wallet asks me for the pin but screen is blank )

It is actually fine to wait for that waiting period as the situation is very understandable. It's just a matter of patience and it isn't a long wait.
How about another option and go for Ledger if you find them convenient? they have Amazon official stores too. (https://shop.ledger.com/pages/retailers/)

If your old trezor doesn't work maybe there's an easy fix to it.

If the screen is blank it's probably not the memory that's damaged but just the lcd driver or maybe the backlight.

It's possible you could have it fixed by someone who normally fixes phones or electronic watches. The principles are the same.

I'd trust the official resellers. I'm sure it's possible to remake the package and the seal but I've never heard of anyone who was scammed after buying a new wallet in its orginal packaging.

As everyone else already said, never buy from different place than the official store.
Interesting, what happened to your one to stop working? I also own a Trezor and am quite happy with it?

Contrary to what many people believe, most good hardware wallets can't be compromised even in the supply chain or with physical access to the device, and even if they did, they would usually need repeat access to the device to actually steal your money.

Even if you buy a used Ledger Nano S or X hardware wallet, you can simply reset the seed phrase several times to ensure that nobody loaded it with a known seed.

You could even keep it in a faraday cage if you think it might have some sort of tiny wireless transmitter installed and somebody has breached ledger's internal authenticity checks.

I would double check with Trezor via reddit, on their sub reddit they are very active. It's very likely that the long shipping message is just standard. Everything I order now says that on the site but arrives in normal times. Do not ever buy from a 3rd party. The risk far out weighs the reward. Would you rather wait a little longer and have your coins safe or satisfy your needs sooner and regret if something happens.

Contact their support and also confirm ship times by asking them.

I can suggest to don't ever buy a hardware wallet except from the official store. There are tons of incidents where hardware wallet has been bugged, meaning, its internal hardware is already manipulated that if you store funds in it, it could be stolen.

That is why I chose to visit the official ledger store, there, I am sure that I am the first one to setup the ledger, and it is not bugged.

The only problem I had is the delivery notification, If I didn't go to our post office, they will not notify me about the shipping status.

Wow I didn't know about this, generally all I have ever hear Is that most stolen funds ends up happening because of phishing sites rather than hardware tampering.

Could sm1 expand more on this plz.

The only reason I was getting jittery is because i found that article in 2018 about the completely fake trezors.

Again any assurance would be very appreciated.

Again any assurance would be very appreciated.
None of us could assure you that what you're going to buy from unofficial stores/sellers aren't tampered.

Just order from official website and official resellers (link provided in previous comment). By the way, Trezor came up with some security measures against tampering starting from packaging up to software safeguards.

In security design, a tamper-evident hologram or holographic seal makes unauthorized access to the protected object easily detected. A package with TREZOR One is protected by two silver seals on both sides and is wrapped in a thin plastic foil (removed on attached pictures). The packaging is carefully sealed with a strong glue.

~

Apart from the physical tamper-evident hologram, our devices also use software safeguards against tampering. The device firmware and bootloader are signed by SatoshiLabs, and these signatures are checked whenever you start the device. The TREZOR will warn you if the signatures are invalid. Apart from that, we dispatch all of our devices without preinstalled firmware. Therefore your can conveniently check that there isn’t a preinstalled malicious firmware.

Also update I called for 2 trezor 1"s one from the regional reseller via amazon. And another via the official website(via amazon).

And while one from the local reseller has come the one from trezor hasn't shipped yet as far as I'm aware.

The local one seems fine as well the holographic seals are all intact and the design is in line with lastest  latest packaging timeline. Though there were a few tears on the outer  plastic wrapping. The box itself is also still glued on as per usual standards. Haven't opened it yet. Sent images to trezor support to verify.

There was also another label on the front side that read as bitcoin curr...hardware wallet. Is that normal. On reddit someone suggested that it's part of Amazon's SKU labelling and is normal.

Sorry for being paranoid and such and thanks again for the help.

In addition to buying a new device, I would contact Trezor Support! Maybe you can change your device for free... I know one guy, who has been changed his Ledger absolutely for free!

Has there ever been an actual case where a hardware wallet was tampered with physically besides the ppl putting a fake seed in the paper or things like that?  Someone else mentioned... as far as they know... they havent heard one case of someone using a hardware wallet that was actually physically tampered with in the hardware device.  Like there are cases where its like a social engineering trick where the user tricks you with writing the seed on the paper... but anything real though?

Make sure that this Amazon reseller is on the official list of resellers. Since, amazon is a online marketplace, and its not always "amazon" selling the goods. There are many companies which sell via Amazon, and they may well claim to be a reseller, but without verification you can't take their word.

Probably not. Since, most people who are interested in a hardware wallet know the significance of buying one from an official source. So, its highly unlikely that these security conscious people are going to buy it from anywhere other than that. There will be cases, of people buying from non resellers, and there's a bunch on Amazon, Ebay trying to sell hardware wallets, but that doesn't necessarily mean its tampered with, but why would you take the risk?
