Yea there are many altcoins that has fastest transaction and lowest fees than bitcoin, but bitcoin is more popular than altcoins, many people like to trade bitcoin and also as an investment. That's why bitcoin is still standing, there is no altcoins can beat bitcoin.

yes you are right bitcoin is the most safest coin ever and bitcoin is the king of all the coins that is why it is slow inorder to insure the safety of transaction, talking about the altcoins' speed i think they are not that much secure and its price is less that is why they are fast in transaction but i think bitcoin is much better in every aspect.

Bitcoin is the king certainly but not suitable for daily trading, yet. But everything will rely on developmental progress. Otherwise, there will be possibilities that potential alts may replace the king. That is my personal opinion not financial advice

3 things:

1. No coin has the strength / hashrate of Bitcoin even Ripple couldn't move 1 billion dollars last year (they had to split it up into 3 separate transactions).
2. Bitcoin so far is the only coin that combines the 3 (security, speed, low fees). Other coins always drop one to gain the others. For exampe, dropping security to get speed and low fees.
3. An altcoin overcoming bitcoin would be detrimental to the market why? How do I put my life savings into something when it can be replaced by something better in a year or 2?

Use the Lightning network if you can't wait. Although the transactions are not as fast as other altcoins, transactions using BTC are safer and have more fiat pairs. Of course, this is the choice each person wants to use which, according to their individual needs. What I want to convey here is, BTTC and Altcoin have their own advantages and disadvantages, so maximize it, don't be too fanatical about one choice so as to make the others worse.

Do you really think instant payment is only the vital marker? Instant transaction is important but security is more important. Bitcoin tx is a bit costly, takes some minutes to confirm the transaction but it is most secure ever.
You may transact instantly, at almost zero fees with other cryptos but security will not be ensured as btc serves

It is difficult to give the reasons in one or two bullet points. These are the reasons that come to my mind right now:

1. There was no pre-mine for Bitcoin
2. It is the original cryptocurrency
3. The inventor (Satoshi Nakamoto) has never tried to profit out of BTC
4. None of the coins come close in adoption and acceptability when compared to BTC
5. BTC can be traded with a large number of options (fiats & other coins).

Altcoins are faster but none of them are more protected than Bitcoin network so you see , unless the altcoin you're saying that is faster than BItcoin is not more protected and more used than Bitcoin, it was no purpose to be compared with Bitcoin. This kind of altcoins will somehow help in payment gateways or as a 2nd option of payment ( Like ethereum and ripple are for now ).  Bitcoin will always be the most secure cryptocurrency.
