They're not the same. Bitcointalk.org is the original one.
If you ever decide to register on the other one, make sure to use a different username/password.

It's a phishing website who will steal your password ans stuffs if you enter them in there.
There was a thread about this recently, and I recall someone saying it wasn't a phishing site and that it had been around for a long time. I made the mistake of trying to log in to the .com site a few months ago (like a complete idiot) using my .org information. Thankfully I realized my mistake within minutes and was able to change my password before anything happened. Even if that site isn't for phishing, I wouldn't trust it NOT to be. I'm sure I'm not the only person who's made that mistake. I thought the new forum software had finally been launched....lol.

Are you sure about that? I haven't seen such information. There was some phishing websites like Bitcointalk.to, but I think it's not same case. It looks like unsucessful attempt to make competitor for Bitcointalk, using their name and .com domain which looks solid.

Doesn't look like a phishing site to me. It has less posts with only 1432 members on it. Must be own by someone who wants to also compete the .org. He sure has a long way to go, even the cryptotalk.org with the amount of money to spend has less fighting chance to compete this forum. But yes don't register to it using the same username and password, its too much of a risk.

According to domaintools, bitcointalk.com has been created on December 31, 2010 while bitcointalk.org has been created on June 23, 2011. So I don't think bitcointalk.com has been created for phishing purpose. That's older than the real bitcointalk. By the way, was bitcointalk using another domain before June 23, 2011? Satoshi created his account on November 19, 2009. Edit: I just found the following post from theymos. It's probably already settled that forum.bitcoin.org will move to bitcointalk.org, but I'll post my argument against the move anyway. Bitcoin.org has no claim to being "official" other than it being the only Bitcoin domain that Satoshi ever owned. The client doesn't link to bitcoin.org anywhere, and no resources are actually stored at bitcoin.org. It's not even the first Bitcoin forum: the sourceforge.net forum used to be used by Satoshi. Therefore, I see no reason why the developers should take bitcoin.org from the community that has been located here for over a year. The main bitcoin.org page can be treated like a "fan site", or it can have its forum links removed, or it can disappear entirely for all I care.
I didn't know this.

A quick search for "Bitcointalk.com" shows a number of people (most of whom should know better) even writing books referring to and quoting .com instead of .org. This lol Roger Ver has started bitcoin.com in response to censorship on bitcointalk.com.

This may be a paid attempt to get their ranking up on various search engines by building discussions about them on various websites.
OP as already said, both sites are not the same. While the other one is not explicitly a phishing site, never register with never forum login details on any other website to avoid your account getting compromised. This is a habit you should adopt when using the internet. Never duplicate login details to protect your accounts.

Quick note: Bitcointalk.com isn't really a "phishing site" for Bitcointalk.org - Some dude created the website months ago promoting it as the "no ads, no smm" (it's on the header) "new" Bitcointalk. But you can usually grasp how horrendous the site is by just checking the animation on the header. Gosh, I hate to see that. It's literally on every ICO site too...

No ads and no marketing... that's definitely not a way to successfully promote a site.

Turns out you both are right. I admit that I was too quick to judge them even not visiting their site. We have seem so many domains with different TLD and from that experience I was certain that this domain was the same without even looking at them. I think I also had a discussion somewhere about this domain and if I remember correctly then my opinion was just another site but trying to leverage the traffic of the original bitcointalk which is our one of course. Thanks for quoting me and I apologize to the readers.

It is not really a phishing website. It should be called another standalone site, it's also a similar site to this forum, but it looks newer. In particular, it has an eye-catching interface, you should not assert, because it does not copy Bitcointalk.org

I did not give much time to get the whole thing at the first place. When I saw something with BitcoinTalk, without thinking much I got this that it could be a phishing site since there are several few others sites too who has different TLD to phish bitcointalk users. But anyway it's sorted.
