According to Abra:
Quote
The Abra wallet is designed to give you full, exclusive control of your private key. When you first download the wallet, you are prompted to write down a “recovery phrase”: that is your private key. So long as you keep your recovery phrase safe and do not install any malware on your phone, your private key will remain in your exclusive control.

You should have written down or recorded the recovery phrase from the very beginning. Without that, your funds are pretty much gone.

I've been following this case from the beginning, and (eventough he hasn't explicitly told us), the OP never said he didn't save the seed phrase.

@OP: is it possible to explicitly verify and tell us if you have the 13 word seed phrase written down (don't post the actual 13 words)? If not, the rest of this thread is more or less futile...

@OP: are you 100% sure address 1Na9ZvogrWGWSYAzpWPFS5axKV4z7kQJTt was generated by your abra wallet?
What i would do is the following:
  • create a screenshot of your abra wallet, showing this address
  • send it to abra support, explicitly telling them that this address was generated by their wallet, but for the wrong coin
  • tell them that if they can tell you how to derive the private key for this address (generated for BSV), that you can import this private key into a lot of wallets on the BTC network, and you should be able to spend those unspent outputs funding 1Na9ZvogrWGWSYAzpWPFS5axKV4z7kQJTt
  • So basically, in order not to create confusion, ask them how to derive a private key for BSV. Since they claim to be a non-custodial wallet, there should be no reason not to give this information to you...

I have recovery phrase sir but cant input to electrum app they need private key i only have recovery phrase i dont know the private key

In simple words: the recovery phrase is used by the wallet to calculate a master private key.
This master private key is used to derive actual private keys. However, this process isn't 1-to-1. 1 Master private key can be used to generate an infinite amount of series of private keys depending on the derivation path.
It's actually a bit more difficult than this, but this is the general idear behind seed phrases, xprv, private keys and derivation paths.

This is why we need to know this derivation path. If you enter the wrong path, a completely "useless" series of private keys will get derived. There are some standards as to which derivation paths to use, but abra already said they use custom derivation paths.

Hmm, perhaps other BSV-compatible wallets might work. Have you tried electrumSV (not sure if this and electrum are inter-related)?

Abra doesn't have access to your private keys. Mainly because users have full control over their wallet.

However if they're an exchange then they have the full access.

@mocacinno: I wonder, if Abra mentioned that recovery phrase = private key then either should suffice. I remembered ADA wallets can just be unlocked from the 12 recovery phrases.

Well, they can't give you the private key (at least, not without knowing the seed phrase, which you probably shouldn't give them). What they can do is tell you the derivation path... Or even better: give you a step-by-step guide on how to recover their BSV wallet on electrum for BSV.

If they give you a step-by-step guide on how to do this, the rest should be a simple as opening said electrum for BSV wallet, going to the menu "wallet" => "private keys" => "export". Then looking through this export to find the private key whose public key hash is 1Na9ZvogrWGWSYAzpWPFS5axKV4z7kQJTt, copying this private key and using it inside an electrum for BTC wallet.

But yeah, if they don't want to give this info to you, things get rather difficult. They could have chosen any derivation path... But don't get ahead of things, first try if they aren't willing to give you the info you require in order to recover almost $3500 in BTC.

abra wallet support must give the private key of my bsv wallet address?

they shouldn't even have access to your private keys to want to give them to you in first place. so if they did, it means you really had no control ever over your coins and what you had was not a wallet but a poor account with the company controlling your money. as a result you should stay away from it.
even if they didn't you should still stay away from any closed source wallets that nobody knows what they are doing under the hood.

Can use electrumsv?
you still need to know the derivation path which you don't.

Or wait for @Heisenberg_Hunter's test if he can guess the correct path as he had successfully reproduced your issue.
I don't think its possible to extract the exact address after trying out various derivation paths from reddit topics and stack exchange replies. I guess they are changing the unique paths for a set of wallets they handle. I mailed them requesting for the unique custom derivation path to restore my $0.1  Cheesy We should probably wait until then. If I am able to get back mine, OP should try that derivation path as well. If that didn't work, we should try another way to help OP. Either way, I think the support team won't be helpful since they don't really know how wallets and private keys work.  Sad

You should have written down or recorded the recovery phrase from the very beginning. Without that, your funds are pretty much gone.
Passphrases are accessible through the Abra wallet. Even if we don't have the passphrase, that can be recovered later.

Menu -> Wallet Security -> View recovery phrase -> Show my phrase now

Can use electrumsv?
I am literally hesitant to recommend a scam wallet for a scam coin. But still you need the derivation paths to find the exact private key which has your bsv address.

Abra can steal my money or no?

If they are telling the truth, and they are (in fact) a non-custodial wallet, they cannot steal your funds IF you don't share your seed, master private key, or derived keys.
However, if they are lying (and they're a custodial wallet disguised as a non-custodial wallet) or if they included a backdoor in their software, they can potentially steal from you.

Since it's a closed source application, there is no way to know any of this for sure... IF you get this solved, empty out your abra wallet and switch to a decent one instead (i'd like to recommand either a ledger or trezor hardware wallet...).

Abra always reply this

 (Abra)
Jan 23, 3:04 PM PST

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your patience.

However, your Abra wallet is not an account, it is a wallet. This wallet will generate unique addresses for that specific wallet. Although:  13TGoYW91eMJXUqK2zGLUetm5GdV3 is one of your addresses, that is not the address on the transaction hash you shared before.

We have looked into this issue further and see via the blockchain: https://www.blockchain.com/btc/tx/b50133a8ce46c2eb9d65cf82e57be28f803c48666e455527aeae42272877 that you sent funds to this address: 1Na9ZvogrWGWSYAzpWPFS5axKV4z7kQ

The transaction did confirm but this address does not belong to this wallet, which is why you do not see the amount in your wallet.

Additionally, regardless if you sent BTC to a BSV address you would still need to know which wallet you sent it to as you did not send it to this Abra wallet.

If you sent it to another Abra wallet, those funds would be lost as you cannot recover BTC sent to a BSV address.

You can't get your private key of your bsv wallet address unless abra will provide you with the custom derivation path and then you'll be able to open your bsv address in other wallet provider then export key. That way you'll get your private keys and recover your btc in your bsv wallet. Try contacting the abra support about their derivation path.

Hello Mark,

I have answered your multiple times and explained those funds were not sent to the wallet you gave us information to.

Additionally, as mentioned, only natively supported funds can be swept from an Abra wallet.

As Abra only natively supports BTC, LTC, BCH and ETH these are the only funds you can sweep from a wallet. All altcoins (BSV) are held by Bittrex.

So once again, I do not see those funds were sent to that wallet but if they have been sent to any Abra wallet they are lost. Because you sent BTC to a BSV address they could still not sweep it as the funds are not natively held on it.

We apologize for the confusion, but those funds have been lost.

Best regards,
Ava

Hello Mark,

If you sent BTC to your BTC address, they would be in your Abra wallet. If you sent BSV to a BSV address, they would be held by Bittrex but you would be able to see them in your Abra wallet.

However, your funds are sitting on the blockchain and do not reflect in your wallet because you sent BTC to a BSV address, they cannot be recovered and thus have been lost.

Please keep this in mind when sending funds to make sure you are sending funds to the address that coincides with the coin.

We apologize for the confusion, but those funds have been lost.

Best regards,
Ava

Abra claims to be a non-custodial wallet (which is unverified), but only for BTC, LTC, BCH and ETH. For other coins they probably use bittrex's api, so for all other altcoins (except BTC, LTC, BCH and ETH), abra is a CUSTODIAL wallet.

IF what they're telling you is the truth, they are right and they cannot help you. However, there are 2 more things you can do:

  • Search Abra's TOS/FAQ/... take screenshots if you have to. Try to find out if they were clear upfront that they are only non-custodial for 4 coins, and they keep all other coins on an exchange. If they did not tell you in their FAQ, their TOS, on their website or in their app, you might be able to ask them to repay you, since you were using their product under the false assumption they were non-custodial for all altcoins, so by not telling you that they kept some of your funds on an exchange, it's a little bit their fault that you cannot recover your funds
  • Try contacting bittrex TOGETHER with abra's support, explain the situation (you sent BTC to a BSV address, not knowing your BSV private keys were not derived from the xprv generated by the recovery seed from abra, but instead they were generated trough an api with bittrex). Try to convince bittrex support to send you your BTC back. Do realise you'll need abra's support, since the deposit address was most probably generated using abra's api
