[Suggestion] Notification for new Post on the interested topics

I was thinking it would be good if we get a notification for the new post on the forum in which we are interested. There should be some tool where we mark all our list of useful topics and enable notification for those topics. If anyone creates a new thread which is related to the topic we marked, then we need to receive a notification about that new thread. This will help the members to answer the queries in which they are interested and also it will help the user who is asking the query as he will get the answer immediately.

Other benefits are:

• It will save the time of the user who is asking the query.
• He will get the correct information from the right person as it is answered by the person who knows it and who is interested in it.
• The thread can be locked soon after he is satisfied with the answers instead of dragging the thread and wait for the useful information.

These are my opinions. Please input your comments and opinion on this.

Something like this will probably be on the new forum, but you can kind of do this already. You can use the 'Watch' feature at the top right or at the top left you can click on Show new replies to your posts which will work perfectly fo you as long as you've made a post in that thread. I basically have that link bookmarked as my homepage so I can see all the new replies to the threads I'm involved with straight away when I log in.

This already exists. There is a « notify » button at the top-right corner of the thread. I believe you get an email every time someone posts on the thread you enabled that option.

Then use the Watchlist. You can add boards to it, so any time someone creates a thread in that board, it will show up on the page. No notifications though (there would be many unnecessary ones anyways). Just visit the Watchlist and see which new threads were made.

And would you really want to get notified everytime someone makes a thread? The flow of news threads per day is pretty big. I’m not sure how would you benefit from this.

Oh, I see. So you didn't literally mean a notification of a new forum topic, but rather a notification for any topics of discussion you were interested in. Well, without probably relying on users to tag their posts/topics correctly with specific keywords this would likely be complicated to implement and take a bit of work to be effective. If you're truly interested in certain things I would just suggest browsing those specific subs as often as you can.

Yeah, I think this would just be spammed or at the very least get annoying very quickly. The best solution as I've already said it just to frequent the subs as much as possible.

Hope I understood correctly! You cannot select some preffered topics like "Faketoshi", "BTC Predictions", "Best ICO 2020" and when someone opens a thread with that topic you get an email/PM/push notification/robo call etc.
It might be doable for new post in certain boards. But do you really want a notification for every post in a specific board??

Use Show new replies to your posts and Watchlist. They get the job done

I think a lot of already made bots use the list at the bottom of the main page (not sure if there's an RSS feed) but there at least used to be a way to look at the 5 most recent topics on the bottom of the main page.

Yes, I did mean a notification for the topic which I am interested in.

If you're truly interested in certain things I would just suggest browsing those specific subs as often as you can.

As I will not be online everytime and check who as posted the topics which I am interested in, I thought it would be good if we get a notification for that. So that when a thread is posted, we get the notification and we can post on that thread at that time only or whenever we are online. In this way, we do not miss any topics.

That’s all there is. You can’t select to get notified every time a thread related to X subject or with Y words in the title get posted. That’s an idea for a telegram bot, but it doesn’t exist yet.

Yes, this is what I was looking for. There must be some feature in the Bitcointalk forum to notify about the new topics in which we are interested. Maybe the telegram bot is the best solution to implement this feature. This can be an idea for the OP's like @LoyceV (who created Piggy's @mention notification bot) and @giammangiato (who created telegram bot for Merit watcher and Mention Notification Bot).
