Well scammers are using the nCOV to exploit and spread Emotet, initial reports shows that the infection is somewhat targeting Japan. Emails contain some preventive measure, but you know that once you open it, your pc will be infected by the malware and potentially stole your personal information including crypto wallets and private keys.

To be honest, if you're receiving scams concerning nCoV, it's probably a great sign that you already need to change email addresses. There's a good chance that you're email has been leaked somewhere if you're receiving such spam.

My suggestions, go with Protonmail[1] or Tutanota[2] if you want a privacy-respecting email service, and in the same time, allows email aliases.

Luckily I did not receive on that kind of email, probably it is simple to avoid if you are not clicking any given emails from the spam message.
I saw this in online website article show the actual image of scammers email but it was made the Japanese language.

Source
Definitely right, quickly changing an email address is the best solution or put an extra layer of security in your all account that connected to your email address. Nevertheless, continue reading the content of the article I have found is a very big help.

I do receive lot of emails like this and now I am not using any emails which I am using for public availability into any device which I had installed crypto wallets. Recently I got an email related to bank services but I noticed that its something strange compared to emails I used to receive from the official banking platform so just ignored and bothered to open any emails since it's only used for spamming nowadays.

I haven't received such messages in my email and i don't think i will. Most people who receive such emails probably have had their Email addresses leaked or the carelessly applied for stupid airdrops and bounties created to gather email addresses which can later be spammed with scam links.

I didn't receive it either.

Does it seem the only users that can be affected with this malware are those users who use Windows OS?

So I think those who receive spam email(Corona virus) on their phone and click the link accidentally are safe as well as on other non-windows OS.

Much better block the email sender and unsubscribe you can follow the guide from Google here Block or unsubscribe from emails

You shouldn't have received any of those emails as long as you use trusted emailing platform such as Google as they filters spam or malicious emails right after you receive one. To be honest I haven't received any emails that contains malicious links of some sort.

One thing is for sure, nCoV had been this year's most potential threat to the world as of now. War had been on a cool down (because we don't know what's happening yet), but the virus will continuously spread. And if ever you received such emails, public notices would be the best help we all can do. Luckily, those emails haven't reached my email add, hence making me that kind of protected (online).

I'm not sure it's a windows OS something. I'm thinking they may have been of a recent data breach. Maybe the recent Bitmex breach?

That's not true. Regardless of the email provider, Anyone can receive a scam email like that with a phishing link. It's not uncommon. At best, gmail would only check if other users have blacklisted/blocked/ marked the sender as spam and then tell you. Other than that, It's dumb at figuring out which email is a scam abd which isn't.

Edit your sentence dude. Lots of sentence fragment.

"Have you receive emails or links with news on how to counter ncov? Be aware that these are malicious email links that contain malware or viruses that could your files and ask for such payment"

Hope you can create more good post and polish your english well.

In regards to your question OP,  many indeed receiving these emails that contains malicious files. Of course the safest thing to do is to avoid it. Delete and never touch or open any corresponding links that could lead you to a more dangerous site or worst phishing site.

This frequent happened if you keep sending your email anywhere. I advise you keep it privately and dont join such airdrops or any giveaway using this sensitive account. Ncov has recently resurface the mass media and I never doubt many will attempt to scam people using it and asking for some donations. If you want to help then go to a legit institutions rather than listening to these freaks.

BIG WINNER!

you usually are targeted with this type of spam/malware when you reveal your email address to others who then sell your email to others to spam you. it usually happens when you participate in an ICO scam, sign up on exchanges,... and generally any shady place that doesn't respect its customers. then your email is placed in a list that is sold over and over again with a description saying you are using cryptocurrencies so the attacks also become specific.

Probably, but maybe not necessarily. My guess is that the people who most likely are receiving these types of spam are those who use the same main email address for more than 5 years or so. Those emails that are so old that the email address has been registered on hundreds of random websites and that has already been spread by database leaks.

The matter has become more than annoying, especially with mail addresses such as Gmail.com, I do not know how long Google will remain silent about such inconvenience and will not provide any solutions to try to reduce such messages.
I have stopped using free services and I use paid services like protonmail or buy my domain with only giving my email to trusted people.

Also, be careful when registering for new websites, as many of them do not encrypt the email and thus are exposed to a lot of leaks that you do not announce.

I don't know why some people here said that we should change emails when this problem occurs  Huh It is not necessary  Roll Eyes The nCoV virus is a hot issue worldwide, it will be used to spread definitely malicious software. Everyone here is knowledgeable enough to know it, so why worry? Just ignore it, report spam, everything is fine  Smiley Don't worry when your email address is leaked, because we use it a lot in this forum and other websites, it's perfectly normal to publicize it, it is inevitable to expose email.

Does it seem the only users that can be affected with this malware are those users who use Windows OS?
NO, don't get it wrong  Roll Eyes
I haven't received such messages in my email and i don't think i will. Most people who receive such emails probably have had their Email addresses leaked or the carelessly applied for stupid airdrops and bounties created to gather email addresses which can later be spammed with scam links.
This maybe the most plausible reason

The matter has become more than annoying, especially with mail addresses such as Gmail.com, I do not know how long Google will remain silent about such inconvenience and will not provide any solutions to try to reduce such messages.
Personally, I feel that they are still doing this well, I use Gmail email, so far, none of the above spam has been sent to me  Cheesy But they cannot filter all spam because someone of you has exposed your email address to too many scammers

It's definitely not perfectly normal to publicize it unless you intentionally allow the public to view your email. Not sure about you, but a lot of us here hugely care about privacy hence we use multiple email address aliases. Because chances are, if you're receiving spam, it won't be from one sender alone.

Have you recieve emails , or links telling news and how to counter ncov, be aware that this are malicious emails, links that will hijack your files, and will ask for payment through bitcoin, also always backup your files in an offline storage or external drive.

So far I have not receive one because I'm not looking in the spam folder, messages like this go straight in the spam section and I'm not opening emails coming from unknown sources or links that looks unfamiliar, we should be educated on what messages that we should entertain and what should be reported.

There is a big difference here  Cheesy I didn't mean to hide my email address, it was still where needed, but I didn't receive such spam. But some people try to hide it, they still get spam, the problem depends on how they use it, not how they publicly or hide it. If I'm not mistaken, when someone signs up for altcoins bonus campaigns, their email will be public on the spreadsheet, which is why it was revealed  Roll Eyes It's easy to get email lists, just copy  Smiley

Google have amazing spam filter, so i don't see the inconvenience unless you open your spam folder or message mistaken as spam.

It's really amazing, but I think it has one big flaw - often a perfectly legitimate email ends up in the spam folder, probably because someone reports them as spam, or because of the number of messages someone sends. Google obviously uses algorithms that track such things, but they don't have too good AI to distinguish that let's say Ledger doesn't send spam messages, though they are probably being sent by the hundreds of thousands. That's why I look at the spam folder from time to time and return legitimate messages to Inbox.

The problem is not that someone opens the spam email, but that they follow the instructions that are in it.
