Why use some local African stock exchanges if nothing prevents you from using proven large platforms that have long established themselves all over the world. If a resident of Africa has access to the Internet, then this is enough to not be dependent on anyone else. I think it will be much more correct than buying bitcoin at inflated prices from local speculators.

Well as far for bitcoin is concerned and other popular coins, it is no longer an issue to buy or sell it. In the past it could be an issue with websites but some groups in different countries do sell and buy within themselves but with a middle person to stand for the transactions done either a trusted person like escrow as it can be done on this forum too.

Localbitcoin is a great platform to buy sell bitcoin. Not only for Africa but also for others country, localbitcoin helps more. But I will suggest to find local clients so that we can skip the transaction fee.

And they should leave Europe and a good chunk of the world alone

Common, I understand it's p2p but seriously!

I don't know if there are two different exchange rates for Nigeria like the ones for Venezuela or Iran, official and black-market but at this moment their best offer is 14.735 $ and 14.456 $ for sale, what is wrong down there?
Hmm, seems like Luno is having the same rates...so, again, what is happening there.

The writer of the article needs to do a little more research before just posting. How do you talk about Peer to peer platforms and forget to talk about the likes of bisq and Localcryptos?

Tell me how remitano whose Bitcoin buy and sell prices are way above and below the bitcoin market prices respectively is better than Localcyptos  Roll Eyes
The only exchange I have ever used in the list is Localbitcoins and that was back then when I didn't have to verify KYC before trading. Definitely never thinking about using it ever.

Suggesting localbitcoins as one of the best exchanges for our African folks is not realistic at all. Most of the Countries that they imposed on the strictest verification procedure are from there and Asia.

It will depend on the buyer's concern.  If the buyer concerned about the KYC/AML, I think the best way to go is choosing ATM Bitcoin machines and other P2P exchanges since isn't required to show your real identity.  As I rad before, the oldest crypto exchange in Africa that supports a bank account upon purchasing Bitcoin are ice3X (IceCubed) and Luno.

Ain't come from Africa but as I heard, buying Bitcoin there is legal and that was the same in my country(mostly in an Asian country) that the bank has also a warning towards adopting or buying cryptocurrencies.  I don't see buying Bitcoin in that country is difficult it seems it is unregulated by the government.

I consider Binance as the best way to buy bitcoin for people in Africa while Localbitcoins and luno are the best exchange to sell for fiat currency due to there price difference to others exchange site but remitano, paxful and Belfrics i don't consider them as an option due to there regulations.

There's a lot missing P2P platforms other than what's already said here. It's a six-month old article but it should have listed the likes of hodlhodl.com and localcoinswap.com. You can find more from this list https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/dyclf8/list_of_bitcoin_persontoperson_p2p_bitcoin/

...With that been said, the article wrote by the OP was to share his referral link.
It doesn't look like this RemitanoOfficial is the author of the shared article. It wouldn't make sense to write something that features other competitors. I think he only shared it because Remitano is mentioned there. The ref links are from blocknewsafrica site and there's no direct link between the two.

Buying Bitcoin through P2P is often better than buying through debit/credit card because you can find better price deals with P2P transactions. The problem with Binance P2P is that you are required to pass KYC first before you can access their P2P services.

It all depends on the buyer of course whether it matters to him/her or not that he/she will submit personal information just to purchase Bitcoin. But overall, I don't think it would be the best option.

This is one area I don't feel bad not being an early adopter because it's obvious they suffered great and daunting challenges acquiring Bitcoin at the time, especially in Africa. You could imagine trying to buy from a local contact with an escrow. The chances of getting scammed were the anxious waiting moments. Even now with escrows, people still get scammed or cheated out of their money. Good a thing we now have trusted exchanges with not much hassles transacting on them.

In the past it could be an issue with websites but some groups in different countries do sell and buy within themselves but with a middle person to stand for the transactions done either a trusted person like escrow as it can be done on this forum too.
I think p2p has given much rise to the awareness of Bitcoin in my country, having to do with so many crowd funding or ponzi schemes requiring Bitcoin as an option for registration fee. Participants readily buy/sell from among themselves. Yes, I know there are quite a lot of scammers hoodwinking others on this but that isn't taking anything away from the genuine users and merchants. Again, those trading Bitcoin and cryptos are on a rise in my country and this has enabled many to buy easily from these traders.
