Almost every day I have to archive some page or post in bitcointalk forum or some other website. In this way page is archived and saved in specific time, and can be used as a proof or for reference. There are several options for archiving, and I will post them here with short explanation. 1. Wayback Machine - Most popular and largest archiving website with over 150 billion archived pages. Easy to save or browse pages, and there are extensions and scripts to make it even faster. http://web.archive.org/2. Archive.is or Archive.today with all other domains, is second largest website for archiving. I think it is a bit faster and more simple to use. There are extensions and bookmarklet for faster archiving. https://archive.is/3. Archive.st - is nice alternative when other websites are busy or can't archive specific web pages https://archive.st/4. Freezepage - is also nice alternative, but it has limited space and other limitations. http://www.freezepage.com/5. Arweave is blockchain alternative for archiving where everything is save on permaweb blockchain forever. You will have to use browser extension to archive pages, and you will get 1AR coin to start. It is a bit slower then centralized solutions, but you will be sure that files can not be removed. Arweave also works for websites where nothing else works, and it can archive PDF files up to 3mb. https://www.arweave.org/archiving.htmlBONUS:There are two options used to archive forum posts all the time, and you can use them thanks to community work: 1. ninjastic.space2. loyce.clubWhat is the best option for archiving? -You can use all of this tools and combine them. There are advantages and disadvantages with each of them, but all of them are useful. Browse Bitcointalk in time:Note:This tools are often used in ScamAccusation section to record page in time as proof: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0

Are you on drugs or what? Archiving have nothing to do with bookmarks. I have a bunch of bookmarks, but archiving is used for SAVING web pages in time. Used often in bitcointalk Scam Accusations.

To deal with it I have reported the post as off-topic, I really think it is.
So far what only known to me are the number 1-3 but the number 5 seems familiar and as far as I can remember I've stumbled some of your posts way back then I've seen you using their service because of their active campaign at Bounties board. The number 4 was really new to me and as your description tells I guess that one is not recommended at all, am I right?
What I don't like sometimes is Archive.is because sometimes they are down but so far that's the one I used the most and the alternatives to me were number 1 and 3. Indeed they are useful especially archiving evidence especially on scams and multiple accounts.

Maybe @Shimmiry doest know more about archive and how it works and why people archive any webpage..
I have been using archive.is for long time. And this one is very familiar to me since I did not use more rest of sites. Thanks for sharing these sites in one place and it will help people when one will not work/ go down.

@rhomelmabini Topic is related to bitcointalk, ScamAccusations section and archiving, and yes I have tested and tried all of this methods. I don't see the reason to move it anywhere.
@rhomelmabini will correct me if I'm wrong, but when he said he reported post as off topic, I think he referred to @Shimmiry and his post about bookmarks, not your topic to be moved someplace else. Maybe Shimmiry doest know more about archive and how it works and why people archive any webpage..
That is why in first post I explained what archiving is and how it works. Yeah, so many people don't read the first post completely, they just see the title, skim over the text and hurry to write a reply. And then we get bookmark post in topic about web archiving. Or maybe he really doesn't understand the difference between those things, as majority of people never really had the need to archive the page. Regarding archiving, 99% of the time i am using either Wayback Machine or Archive.is, those two fits my needs.

You nailed it. I didn't mean the OP to be the one that's off-topic but the very first reply of the thread by @Shimmiry. The topic is relevant to the forum I don't see anywhere it fits rather than here in Meta. Thanks, @Rikafip!

@ dkbit98, you did the right thing, to tell other members how important it is, use (archive) to store evidence if one day the evidence can be lost or deleted by the perpetrators of the fraud.I'm also not bored to warn in the reputation section for newcomers, the importance of the discovery must be archived right, all of that for us too in the future. What you remind people here means that the archive is far more important, than we ignore it or consider it trivial.the conclusion is: that (Archive.org) is the "Time Machine" for Tracking a Certain Site History.

One thing to take into consideration is that not all archive sites allow the same types of data to be archived. For example, Archive today stores text and image, but will not store flash, video, sounds, pdf, and so on. The WayBackMachine is a bit broader in terms of the scope of things that one can archive, and it extend’s its capacity to video, audio, amongst others. They may also differ in their policy to pull down archived pages.
Note: This is a type of project that would be interesting to move on to a more decentralized collaborative system, in order to reduce the chances of the corporation behind the site from disappearing and leaving tons of achieved data at risk.

I screen shot and pdf. sometimes use wayback site.
bookmarks have a purpose on this thread.
if you use wayback to archive then bookmark the wayback archive.
i am pretty sure any of the archive sites will allow you to bookmark what you archived on that site.
while i believe this i could be wrong.
i also am not sure if the poster that mentioned bookmarks had my idea in mind.

Exactly. I had issues in past with archiving, so I explored all possible alternatives. So far Arweave is working in cases where all other websites are not working. I can even archive PDF files up to 3mb, and it is decentralized and on permaweb. https://www.arweave.org/archiving.htmlIf only it was a bit faster One more intreresting opesource extension with most archiving tools all-in-one: https://github.com/dessant/web-archives

Saw this post from our local(since it was translated) and it's a pretty interesting topic. I have listed in my post some of the reasons why you should archive. - Screenshots can be edited and manipulated
- Not a substantial evidence (especially like mentioned, in scam accusations)
- Everything is included with (source HTML, embedded images, links, etc.)
Note: This is a type of project that would be interesting to move on to a more decentralized collaborative system, in order to reduce the chances of the corporation behind the site from disappearing and leaving tons of achieved data at risk.
I have never thought of it like that and I must say it's an interesting project to pursue this. So I researched more about it and I thought it might help others to see this as well. theodi.org focuses on these types of research and according to the articles, you could be involved in the making of the project and just contact them through their email.

A good selection of various archivers. I use these archiving very often, but about Archive.st I didn't even know. I recently noticed that the Wayback Machine does not allow you to make an archive of the site. Although I consider this archiver to be the best. I don't know what this might be related to, but alternative archivers will help me solve this problem.

Does WB save every thread though? There are cases whereby threads gets nuked before they could be archived. No idea how often WB saves a cached version.

It only saves something if some human being or maybe some bot click the button and archive specific page or thread.
