This is why I think it needs to be shifted to flag football or some variation of that until they reach college.  I don't know how this will work, but I just don't think there will be any other choice.

This would be the most sensible choice, however so much money moves at the college level that it is difficult for me to see how this transition could play out, but at some point it has to happen as underage football players should have no business hitting each other at full speed when their bodies are still developing, and while the ability the body has to recover at that age is incredible, at the same time injuries slowly begin to accumulate, so it would be preferable this process started as late as possible, now it would be optimal if this process never started at all but on sports like football or boxing this is inevitable.

Yeah I'm not sure how this could all play out but something needs to happen.  I had no business play tackle football in 6th, 7th and 8th grade.  As a running back I was getting mini-concussions pretty much every single practice and game and multiple times each practice and game.  That's scary.  The guy who discovered CTE said something like just three years of youth football increases once chance of suicide by like 40% ( or something very high like that).  Maybe it's flag until you get to Jr and Sr year in high school, that could be a decent start?

There's actually a good argument against this;  I don't recall when or where I read it, but many years ago there was a study about injuries in football, and it suggested that high school and college football players that didn't play tackle football in Little League or didn't play tackle football in Jr. High were more prone to injuries than the ones who had been playing throughout their childhoods.  Obviously the intentions are good, but often times when people meddle with things they don't understand it only makes things worse.

My final FFL game against Taco Corpse has been put on hiatus because of this. How will we know who came in 5th and 6th place??


I tend to do a bit better picking end-of-season games based on my theory that teams that need a win to make the playoffs will find ways to get extra points to secure that win. On that premise I put small bets on Seahawks to cover -6 against the Rams and Dolphins to beat Jets moneyline. Of the two bets I feel a bit more confident about Seattle.


Update: Oh great it turns out my 4 players simply forfeited. Boooooo. This is corruption, an outrage, get Mr. Yahoo! on the line cuz, this aggression will not stand, etc.

Damar Hamlin is showing good progress on his recovery, which is great news as some of us feared the worst, and is now awake and even communicating in writing, and while he still has a long road ahead of him it seems he is headed in the right direction.

I think it is about time we talk about this, if the game between the Bengals and the Bills is played then there is no issue and whoever scores the most points is the champion.

But what to do if the game is canceled? Which by the way seems as the most likely scenario at the moment, one option would be to take the posture yahoo is taking and accept it as is and move on, and in that case the Q/Cows will get the win.

However while I am not an expert on law practice, there is a concept called an act of god, which allows for a party to not be held responsible for their inability to fulfill their contract obligations due to extraordinary circumstances, so our informal social contract which can be roughly described as 'a group of NFL fans that agreed to compete on a weekly basis by selecting players to try and see who is the best among them during the 2022 football season' cannot be fulfilled anymore if the game is not played, using this reasoning I would have no problem splitting the money with Hueristic in half and declare two champions or no champion at all.

But this is not for me to decide so I am interested in hearing the opinion of the rest of the members of the league about this.

I'd like to see this study, sounds interesting.  That said, I can guarantee this study doesn't have anything to do with brain injuries and CTE, which is the real issue here.  I could certainly see kids not playing tackle for their youth then all of a sudden playing tackle and getting hurt as their body isn't used to it, but the brain is an entirely different thing.  There's no amount of brain damage that's good, or prepares you for further brain blows.  So again for me, it's all about brain injuries and mental health, not so much all the other stuff ( though I fucked up my back playing football when I was 14 and it's still fucked up from doing so).

So right now it states South Park has 112.00pts and Hueristic 78.30, the projected points state 131.52 vs 115.58, respectively... however the projected points aren't correct (I've seen this in other leagues as well.  For some reason yahoo is not correctly adding them up).  The project points should be 121.59 SP versus 108.3 Hueristic. 

This is a tough one.  In all liklihood South Park was going to walk away with the win, but it's certainly possible Hueristic could have come back. 

It does not look like this game will be made up at all.

I'm now hearing from multiple sources that there will be an owners meeting on Friday regarding the AFC playoff seeding issues.

In a friend's league, the guys playing in the championship game decided to have co-champs and split the pot, it was 8 pts difference with McPherson left to play for one of the managers, as you see it was a pretty close game and it could have gone either way.

A bit different in our league, Cows had a decent lead, live projected to win by at least 10 points, also:

If McPherson scores a regular distance FG and makes at least one extra point, Barbarians will for sure need those 40+ fantasy points to win. Mixon and Higgins have only once topped that number though, in week 9 thanks to Mixon's historic 5-TD day against the Panthers.

The Barbarians' comeback was improbable but not impossible, it's difficult to say what would have happened if the game had been completed. My advice to both is to wait until the NFL officially announces their plans tomorrow and then communicate with each other about what you believe is best. The obvious and also simplest solution is to declare the Cows champions and treat the canceled game as an injury...it sucks, but it can happen.

This is obviousley unpresendated terrirtory as in the past it was assumed games would always be completeleted and have even when players have died. So the league is changing their stance without prior notification and are openeing themselfs up to liabilities which I don't doubt will e settled in court with big players.

Even Damar Hamlin asked who won after he woke up and was told what happened so there was even an expectation from him.

What really sucks besides the guy dropping dead is this had culmilated into one of the greatest matchups in fantasy to date. all the stars aligned for the top players to all be in a position to put up huge numbers. I was really expecting some massive numbers for my number one and 3 pick in this game and am pretty disappointed that we cant see an exiting end.

As Southpark offered I'm of the opinion a tie is the most appropriate outcome.

I guess we could play the gme next week if he wants and I would be fine with that but I relly dont know how playoff contentions and such would effect the play time next week and I have no way to check the teams as I don't have the password with me for the league.

The obvious and also simplest solution is to declare the Cows champions and treat the canceled game as an injury...it sucks, but it can happen.

It is not difficult to imagine that things could get ugly in leagues with a lot of money at stake.

Now after thinking about it for some more time it seems to me declaring a tie is still the fairest outcome, Hueristic still had Higgins and Mixon to play while I only had McPherson with a 33.7 lead before the game was suspended and eventually canceled, however with so much at stake for both the Bills and the Bengals I expected some very aggressive play calling by both coaches, which would benefit Hueristic and affect me negatively, all in all is impossible to tell what it may have happened, but I expected the final score to have a margin of difference of less than 5 points.

So if Hueristic agrees to a tie as well we can say this issue is settled and each one can send their bitcoin address to DireWolfM14.

Now I am not going to deny I am disappointed with this non-ending we had, but no one was at fault so there is no other option but to move on, however make no mistake I will participate again on the next FF league, and while a week ago I was ready for a break, now I wish the league could start tomorrow.

And moving on to the games of this week, currently I am watching the Bills and they are looking good, they went through all kind of emotions so I kind of expected to see some of them absent from the field, but since Hamlin is presenting a good recovery and they need the win if they want to at least play at a neutral site if they played against KC on the AFC championship then they are treating this game against NE very seriously.

There were some leagues I saw where they decided that they would set up a Madden match, build the teams with their same fantasy players, whoever wins, takes it down lol.

I couldn’t be happier about the Bears losing and the Texans winning. It feels pretty good as a Bears fan going in to the off-season with a quarterback who just might be legitimate as well as having the #1 overall pick. I assume they will trade the pick, but of course I expect some very nice draft capital back in return.

Green Bay Packers losing to the Detroit Lions was icing on the cake.  Maybe Rodgers should focus on building a better team around him rather than his main focus being the top paid quarterback in the league. Enjoy the playoffs from your couch Aaron
