To be fair, it's impossible to implement on mobile/tablets,

(just some feedback) I have a mobile phone and tablet (android) that both run Firefox and don't have any issues with the BPIP extension.  It might pay to encourage people to try a new browser?

Is it available for safari browser?

No, and it's unlikely that we would have time to implement it since Safari doesn't use the same APIs as Chrome or Firefox, plus what Initscri said about mobile browsers.

Edge

I think Edge is supposed to be compliant with WebExtension API + promise polyfill, which we already use for Chrome... never tried it though.

The new Edge is chromium based, so I think there will be no problem.

The new Microsoft Edge  is based on Chromium and was released on January 15, 2020. It is compatible with all supported versions of Windows, and macOS. Downloading the browser will replace the legacy version of Microsoft Edge  on Windows 10 PCs.

I don't know if you can easily list your extension in MS Store, and I am not sure if it is necessary or not... I don't use Edge, just installed to test

Just installed BPIP extension in the new Microsoft Edge.

A suggestion... Have you thought about making a browser extension? I think it would be nice if we could access the archived posts directly from the forum's posts instead of having to manually check every post.

Sorry I missed this older post, but could you and SM work together on one extension?

I don't think suchmoon wants to get involved in archiving posts, but if there is any interest, I can create a list of all posts in my archive.

I had something like that set up to rotate personal text (under the avatar) but some website update broke the primitive parser I was using and I kinda abandoned it.

Unfortunately it's pretty much impossible to implement this as a third-party API/service because it would need your username/password. A browser extension could technically update it as it already has access to Bitcointalk pages but you would have to roll your own - BPIP Extension won't be touching personal info any time soon.

I had a feeling that might be the case - my coding skills are ancient, so I'd need someone's help with the right code if it were possible.  Fortunately, my scores are pretty much as high as they'll go, so I only have to up the scores once in a while (maybe fortnightly).

Whatever, it still does not change the fact that it is useless and waste of time to use. Because nobody gives a fuck if Satoshi is inactive or how many merits you have. It is just that no useful data can be obtained from this extension and since not everyone can read code, it is not safe to use this extension just to look for instagram-like statistics about random forum users.

Thanks for looking out for everyone. You shouldn't use this (or any other) browser extension if you don't trust the developer, regardless of its appeal.

umm.. you do realize the extension doesn't even report anything related to merit at the moment.. merit count is part of the forum itself.

Could technically port it to a TamperMonkey script and run it for all non-supported browsers (Edge, Safari, etc)

There is no limitations of a mobile browser like Firefox to your desktop Firefox except for the hardware it is running on. All extensions that I have tested on Firefox mobile has worked without any faults. The biggest problems will be resolution and ui problems and the ram issue if its ram intensive.

I have another suggestion which already has interest in the thread I originally made it in.

Would it be possible to have a Firefox add-on button similar to the BPIP one on a user's profile page that takes you to the corresponding trust page for that week?

It would be great if the BPIP extension can include this. I suggest you suggest it in that topic

I've had the suggestion before, but never got the time (or motivation) to implement it. I was hoping to have some time today, but things turned out differently.

I just installed Tor under your suggestion @suchmoon only to find that it's a mozilla/firefox product.  So, although the Tor Browser sounds interesting, why should I install a different version of mozilla/firefox if it won't accept an extension (BPIP) that isn't "recommended"?

The Tor browser is based on Firefox, but it's created by The Tor Project, Inc..

So, although the Tor Browser sounds interesting, why should I install a different version of mozilla/firefox if it won't accept an extension (BPIP) that isn't "recommended"?

The way I read suchmoon's post is that the official Firefox doesn't allow the extension anymore, but the Tor browser still allows it.
