PM Search

I know this is a weird content to be posting since I've been using the forum for so long.. 

Is there a way to search for PM's specifically from a user? I've tried leaving the Search For: field blank but it wouldn't search at all. Putting an asterisk in the field wouldn't work either. I've been scouring the PMs manually in the past but it's pretty time consuming.

Yeah I'd second that idea, I have 49 pages of PMs and a bad sense of time with everything - that's about 1000 messages to skim if I want to find something.

It might be a bit hard to add though as it'll require a whole new object and a new amount of testing to ensure it's just you who can see your own messages.

Yep. I'm trying to find PMs sent by a specific person though. It works fine if I know the keywords of the PM and it's able to filter out the senders for me. However, I still can't get it to display all of the PMs sent by a specific user.

He said he tried using it with the search box blank but it wasn't working. He wants messages to be sorted in a way that he can see all messages from a specific member.


OP try using the sorting Feature. When you click on "from" it will arrange the sender names in alphabetical order (ascending or descending) and then you can get the required sender's name in a given order after selecting the page where a the first letter of the name lies.

Unfortunately wildcards are not allowed in the search field.

However, since the field includes everything inside of the message, you might want to search for very common letters.
The most common letter in the english language is e.

Searching for "e" together with the users name, should give you most of the messages. If both of you wrote normal sentences, the chance that there is a message without an "e" is pretty low.

Not perfect, but at least a way to find most (if not even all) of the messages.

I usually search my mailbox by CTRL + F because I know about when the message was from. During the test I had more problems with the search than I expected.
But the 2 workarounds now offered by JeromeTash + bob123 will surely help you
