During the bull run of 2017, I started to mention bitcoin and its potential to the educationist and some financial analyst in my church, they all told me as long the USA government was against it, it was going to crash to zero, in January 1st 2018, I posted on Facebook "another year of crypto", the next 2 Sundays, some persons asked me if bitcoin was still alive, I answered in the affirmative yes. Monthly I engage them intellectually and did some practical demonstration, the youth invited me to speak on bitcoin and the future of money, I did to the best of my knowledge most think it was now too expensive, well I just didn't give any signal to buy to avoid giving a brother the left foot of fellowship.

Last year, I had to teach some group of teenagers and youth and asked them to participate in an airdrop, very few participated and were paid $50 each after 5-7days, which I immediately converted to fiat for those who doubted the genuineness of free money. After this the whole group was filled up and on fire, this time I was able to teach them how to get set up binance account and a non-custodian wallet, and safely buy cryptocurrency and save in their private wallet. Was surprised to see prvate message from one of the student that he was putting hundreds of dollars in the market and keeping for the future, I just told him never to forget the market is very volatile and unregulated, he said he understands. I said i my heart " this one has gotten the vibes" this way, no one can blame me of misleading them. I daily receive private messages of wanting to know how bitcoin works from people I don't know. When I should have said, I am not chance, they will say they were refereed to from church groups, I deal a justice. In he issues of Cryptocurrency investment, never tell anyone how high and soon BTC investment can be, let them know first the technology behind bitcoin and altcoin and the general scope of blockchain, people will be most likely to take responsibility for their investment than blaming the teacher. I still have a lot to do after the lockdown.

Teaching someone about BTC by telling them how their investment will boom in a few months is not teaching them about BTC - it's like telling a kid why Trump should be voted when they have no idea what politics are.

If one wants to educate somebody about Bitcoin and blockchain, they should start from the bottom: how Bitcoin was constructed and why. Why you can free yourself at least partially from the enslavement of our system.

Moreover, convincing someone to get in BTC through praising its supposed price boom might not only go wrong as an investment but as a relationship between you two. I've been there, during my early years of cryptocurrencies. Could go bad very easily.

You’re doing a good work in helping a lot of people to learn about blockchain and cryptocurrency. Unlike most people that will tell others that cryptocurrency is a means for making lots of money, it’s best to let them know first that there are lots of risks involved in trading a cryptocurrency or investing in it. If it’s not going to be that way, they will all jump into it and be expecting to wake up the next day with lots of money to be transferred to their bank account.

It’s best they know that it doesn’t work that way. Just like my colleagues, when they got to know that I was into Bitcoin, they started to overreact, thinking that I have made lots of money. But I made it clear to them that it wasn’t what they think, although sometimes there can be a bull run and you will make money, but invest at your own risk and what you can afford to lose.

Ooh, you make me feel jelous to be honest. Where did you find those interested people lol? How fortunate you are because at least you found someone who seems eager to learn from you. That's already a thing you should be proud of mate Smiley. Unlike me, they suddenly refuse the moment I tell them that are risks tied in every profits we can generate.

*sigh I hope I can found someone (at least one) who can become my student. I know that I'm not on the expert level when it comes to crypto but I still insist to share what I've known. This is my little way of returning the favor, I really want to help others given that they're willing to learn of course Cheesy.

It does not easily teach someone or many people about bitcoin, especially if they don't know anything, and we need to teach them from the basic. But you've done a great thing here, and you should continue to teach them to learn more about bitcoin and let them search the other lesson so they can improve their skills, not because of you teach them, but they can grow because of themselves.

I am sure that it is only a matter of time to see the number of people who will ask about bitcoin to you, so you need to be ready to teach more new people. Always remind them about the volatility of bitcoin price, and don't forget to tell them not to greedy if they don't prepare with anything that might happen later. Thus, you will succeed to have more people that want to learn about bitcoin.

The catchy part of the teaching was when the few who participated in the airdrop was able to see it through their local fiat currency,  people often believe in things they can see, things put in practice, if not for that little display, many will not show any interest,
It is a good thing you warn them about market fluctuations, better to have full knowledge of what they are involved in than start apportionning blames at the end, most times many people are not too concerned about the technology, only the money aspect.

Same method as brainwashing people to invest in their imaginary project which doesn't even exist in reality without the help of investors. Things are not going to work if we just listen to some strangers about how we can effectively invest in cryptocurrency, it doesn't work that way. what we need to do is, spend some time to educate ourself about it with some proper step by step guide. legit threads that thought us about the pros and cons are matters as well because this will be our first step whether we start to invest or not.

if you want to introduce someone to the concept of cryptocurrency, then you should tell them about what crypto "currency" means and how it works. and only start with bitcoin since that is the only decent cryptocurrency that is a currency and satisfies all the conditions.

you basically did the worst thing by making them think cryptocurrency is equal to a magical money making machine where they can earn "free money" and make a lot of "profit" from trading it. not to mention that pushing anybody towards ICO scams (the airdrops) is terrible because all they see is the scam and the uselessness of them and their first impression of a great technology would come from the only garbage they have encountered!

That's what we should do to promote bitcoin among new generation. But just don't make them greedy by give free money making hope. We should explain the theme of bitcoin and other technical objects. Bitcoin wasn't designed to only get profits from it. Same as you have done I have done as well. Some of them enter on bitcoin and still related with it even better than me. Some of them didn't care due to volatility behavior of bitcoin. Because they just need good return which I wasn't agree with. Because we don't know about price where will go and I was unable to assure about it. Who much care about profits only rather than understand main goal of bitcoin, then I did not encouraged them to buy bitcoin. Because if price drop hugely they couldn't endure with it.

I have been experienced what you have done, promoting Bitcoin to my relatives and friends was my first student in teaching about related to crypto stuff. I impressed when I heard that there are some good people willing to teach Bitcoin how it works or in Cryptocurrency in general. But you should always remember in blaming after they will be experienced failure. But I assume that you are a good teacher to them because there is someone who is willing to spend hundreds of dollars for investing crypto and I hope choosing Bitcoin will have the potential to make a profit at a right time. No doubt that they really understand what you have taught.

Before these steps, I have taught to them when I was promoting Bitcoin.
  • Explained to them the usage of Bitcoin
  • How it works and how to manage volatility
  • Non-costudial wallet for storing Bitcoin
  • How to avoid scam and hack

There are double difficulties in this matter, which is represented in teaching people about cryptocurrencies, which are somewhat new and teaching them about investment, which is unknown to most people.
Investment education talks about investment as a concept, reading plans, identifying platforms and then developing strategies that require accurate knowledge.
As for teaching cryptocurrencies, we must know the basics, wallets, safety, and more.
Therefore, I agree with you, unless the individual knows what he is doing, the chance of losing is greater than achieving profit.

This really hurt my feelings.
Its as if, they control everything and a lot of people out there believe so.
Gotta move on!

Now about the story, it is a good one but it should never be about the money only.
You made it sound like an investment and not a currency anymore.
All of your lessons and about the airdrop maybe in the wrong path. They might just think it is another investment that needs to be kept for a long time.
It ain't. The fact that it can also be used to pay is there and I never seen it in your story. I hope that changes.

I think this is pretty tough, but there's definitely some truth to it, op. I get it that you're trying to educate people about Bitcoin, and this is great! It's cool that you've been teaching young people to use crypto wallets, stuff about safety and how Bitcoin works. However, I also did not like that part about getting teenagers to participate in an airdrop and converting into fiat. I mean, even if it truly worked out great with them getting $50 for that stuff, it's a very dangerous thing to do because they can lose the hell lot. Not to mention that you probably need the consent of their parents for that... Investments are not what Bitcoin is about, and leading youth that way can be destructive in the end.
