Since the original ANN thread for Reddcoin (RDD), launched in 2014 has been locked, and original team credentials unavailable, Team Reddcoin (RDD) is establishing a new official thread for relevant discussions. We encourage any current ReddHeads, and those holding, staking and trading RDD to take a moment to read about how the protocol is evolving with our now-underway PoSV v2 transition.

As of 2015, Reddcoin has been an unfunded, all-volunteer cryptocurrency project. While our focus is primarily on building solutions on the Reddcoin blockchain, it has also become obvious that community support and community building in a meaningful way is critical to the overall success and adoption of crypto products of all kinds, and to that end we have designed a welcoming, helpful community, full of supportive folks and without the least focus on speculative and price/trading aspects of the project, or promotion toward that end. We have strived to be a beacon of openness, honesty and transparency in our dealings, partnerships, development work, and philosophical approach. We encourage anyone like-minded to join both the ReddHead community or the dev team itself to help us drive that vision into the future.

IMPORTANT - Required Reddcoin (RDD) v3 Core Wallet Upgrade

Attention, ReddHeads! If you are still actively staking Reddcoin, the Reddcoin Dev team wants to alert you to an important wallet upgrade that must be done to continue using the Reddcoin blockchain and staking successfully.

**The supermajority transition to PoSV v2 is presently at approximately 62%, and should complete activation in the next 1-2 months.**

If you have not upgraded your staking (Core) wallet to v3 by that time, you will no longer be able to use the old v2 wallet clients until you do. Coins will not be lost if you don't upgrade, but you will not be able to send, receive or stake until the upgrade to v3 ha been completed.
Complete information and instructions can be found here; typically users have reported upgrading in a matter of minutes with little issue. Seems like a lot of great news dropping pretty regularly for Reddcoin these days...well done! Glad to see the crypto winter has left Reddcoin standing in a good place.

Long day and week, but making some good progress. As we go into the weekend, an update for the ReddHeads.

We will be releasing for alpha/acceptance testing (not general release) what we will be calling “3.10.1a” of the Reddcoin Core wallet.
The naming convention has been adjusted to better include our own major version # (3, in this case), the version # of bitcoin we’re currently building on (0.10, in this case) and the release within that version. So v3.10.1a is the alpha or test release for the first revision of our 3.x wallet going from the old 0.9 code to now supporting 0.10. Hopefully that’s clear.

This includes about 150 individual code changes (“commits”)  moving us closer to full Bitcoin 0.10 codebase support which enables the newer MacOS Catalina building process. We are not there yet due to the complexity of this process, but right around 60% done with the required work (much like PoSV :sunglasses:🥰) Because testing of this version requires a bit of technical expertise to connect to testnet, we would love for anyone so inclined to test with us, otherwise testing will go on primarily internally.

Assuming that all changes to date run without problem as we expect, Gnasher expects we’ll be very close to done and able to release that new version for all platforms including MacOS (and including Catalina) likely in about two to three weeks. Obviously that’s not a committed date, but an estimate that will change as the work gets done. If there are devs or coders who would like to contribute, we’d love to have you, just send me or any member of the team a message.

We’ll be putting out an update along with some new videos shortly.

This planned version 3.10 will not be a required upgrade for users, as it will include PoSV v2 code already, but will include a number of new technical features and capabilities and some long-promised performance upgrades to the wallet in preparation to be able to use some of the newer bitcoin features and security changes. Recommended but not required.
