There's a very easy way of protecting your coins. You just have to make sure your private keys are in your possession and are kept offline. There's a common misconception that when someone loses Bitcoins it's those bitcoins that were hacked. In reality the user was hacked, or the exchange he was using was hacked. Bitcoin wasn't hacked and is not going to be hacked, there's no need for us to do anything to protect it. What we should do is protect the devices we use to transact and try not to use centralized exchanges.
That is a way to secure your coins but that will most likely require two things, the use of paper wallets and becoming a long term holder, and that is not really an option for most people, despite the risks many people keep their money in the wallets of exchanges because they are traders and speculators that want to take advantage of every single movement in the price of bitcoin, as such they do not really have too much of a choice and they will depend on the security of the exchange to protect their coins.

As I was reading news today on cointelegraph, what i read really shocked me. It was about a new trojan. The trojan can affect exchanges apps. The trojan get access to specifically google factor authenticator on devices and steal it. Use the link below for the full details

https://cointelegraph.com/news/threat-alert-new-trojans-targeting-major-crypto-exchanges-apps-discovered

I am new to cryptocurrencies  but I gained a lot from this news. We need to stay connected everyday to read news because cyber criminals are looking for ways to steal our coins.

A week ago, I read about the safest wallets, I found out that the safest are paper wallet and hardware wallet. The wallets are offline but to make a transaction, you have to connect it online. I later read of a malware that can steal cryptocurrencies  from trezor or ledger nano in just 15 seconds which are the best hardware wallets.

So, we need to know how to manage our wallets too and have a strong antivirus to protect us from hackers and also we need to know the latest threats from cyber criminals so that we can protect ourselves away from them.

Regarding this particular virus, there is already a thread discussing it here. Specifically, see this and this post for my explanation of how it works. The TL;DR is don't keep your coins on exchanges or online wallets because this virus is capable of displaying a fake login screen. Hardware wallets, paper wallets and SPV clients like electrum wallet are all safe from this.

Just keep it simple! download a cold storage wallet and keep a backup of that wallet so you can get access to your wallet without any issue later on. Always keep the back-up phrases safe somewhere and not in the reach of anyone except you.

Never reveal your private key and never hold your crypto on a an exchange wallet. Always transact indore and never reveal that you earn from cryptocurrency.

Follow and you will be safe.

<snip>

If you think like that way then there is no security for anything or any hardware wallet or any paper wallet or no matter what are you using to protect your asset. Not even a bank can give you 100% security for your asset. Cause bank robbery or bankruptcy is not a unknown thing to us. If you try to use hardware wallet cheaters crack your wallet somehow (like trojan), if you use paper wallet there is a chance to lost it, if you try to use desktop/app wallet they can hack your wallet through email or any other virus.

Those will be happen if we are not much smart to protect your asset. Sometimes for more profit we choose untrustworthy bank, sometime we click a unknown link from our email, sometimes we use unprotected software or application. So there is plenty of way to hack your wallet or PC easily if you are not get smart how to use it.

Honestly i shocked also when i heard about it, cause i also thought hardware wallet is the most secure wallet (which still is). But we can't always judge anything for one or two incidents. Cheaters are everywhere, there is no platform i know about where cheaters are not exist. So being smart is the only way to beat them.

Hardware wallets are safer to use than of any online wallets but as we indulge in the online system of payment or transactions still it is prone to hacking especially when we misclick site into pishing sites. This is a reason why we can't be 100% secured and the only thing that we should have to do and so we don't fall into this is to be careful in visiting sites. The security of our wallet lies to us, on how we handle it and how bulgar we are into the other people which is giving them a chance to copy our keys and get control over our wallet.

Today, we are all vulnerable to hacking. There are even apps, wallets and software that may seem safe outside but is really unsafe to store Bitcoin. We are too confident to rely on online wallets that are makes us vulnerable to hackers. The main thing we must do is to not constantly click on links that says we will benefit but in turn, hackers can see our activities and even monitor our transactions. That's why we have to be very careful for us to be protected and to not waste our effort. Yes paper wallets are safe from hackers but we are not sure of the people around us now that there are news about killings because of Bitcoin.

I feel like if you dwell on it too much, it tends to happen. Don't be too paranoid about having your Bitcoin getting stolen. Just practice the required measures of not clicking on unknown links or downloading any unknown software on your PC and using the right hardware.

Bitcoin is money, and everyday, hackers are trying to steal them like they do to the normal currency. There is no way you can completely have and use them offline; its transaction is online.

Or, better still, perform your bitcoin transaction on a PC that you rarely go online with or use daily.

A few simple steps and precautions are enough to protect your cryptocurrency assets from hackers. From what I have seen, if you use email confirmation using a Gmail account, hacking incidents can be prevented 99.99% of the times. Only using laborious methods such as SIM swap, a hacker can steal coins from a wallet which is protected with email authentication and 2FA.

These people are more experienced than us. You don't need to keep all your funds on one exchange as a rule of the thumb. Not your key, not your money also have a role to play here, have several non-custodian wallets and keep your tokens there. Don't just rely on one in case of a successful hack. so that you don't lose your entire capital. Always use an antivirus that can detect trojan behaviors and warn about this action. Don't download App from Google PlayStore or iOS without verifying if it corresponds with the official release. Most hackers use similar names to deceive unsuspected users to download fake App and collect valuable information that is able to conduct a successful hack.

For such a virus to have access to your device or system or even access your applications, you must have clicked on a link or downloaded some stuffs that carried such virus. That’s why you should always avoid unsolicited mails and stop clicking on links that you know nothing about and download apps that you don’t know anything about them. Such virus cannot just fly from nowhere and enter your device, there is something you must have done to give it access.

So, everyone should learn and know things they should avoid to keep themselves safe from all these. Even paper wallets before you can send them out you will still have to access them online and that is it. Hardware wallets like Trezor and Nano S Ledger and paper wallets are all cold storage. There is nothing 100% secure, you just have to be security conscious and guide yourself.

While it's cool that at least someone offers this, it's sad that it's not a good university. China's a powerful country, and they have high-quality higher education. But this university is such a no-name that it's even hard to find any info about it online. Okay, I get it, China is not big on the Internet, they have their own space for that. But it seems suspicious in any case that Google confuses it with other facilities, the website seems to be offline (if CUIT is the one), and a Wikipedia page (if, again, it's the same university, and I am not sure of that) says that this facility's known for an incident of promoting cruel behavior with animals for the sake of research. I also cannot find this news on any reputable news portals...

This is the reason why I always say that the blockchain technology is evolving and there are still many things to learn. Nobody could boldly tell you he/she knows everything about it and this is the reason why some that have look for a bad side is developing an attack that could steal information from the target and gain access to an individual crypto wallet. It is very unsafe to keep information that can lead to getting access to your wallet on your devices and installing anti-virus such as malwarebyte is a good thing

If you are storing your coins in an exchange you do not even have to make a mistake to get your coins stolen from you, if the exchange gets hacked you could lose your coins even if you took all of those precautions, it is important to remember that there is no way to protect your coins completely but if you take some simple steps the possibilities of losing your coins can decrease dramatically as hackers most likely will prefer to try to steal from those that do not take as many precautions as you do.

You can't protect Bitcoin in general but you can protect your coins. First, don't keep all coins you have in just one wallet and avoid online wallets.
I agree with you. We have no way to keep all Bitcoin in the world but we surely can save our Bitcoin by keeping them in a proper way. Yes, it is better to avoid keeping them in online wallets, especially in an exchange wallet. Put them in hardware wallets, it is much safer than the online ones. If we want to send our Bitcoin to exchange or online wallets, just do it once we want to trade them.

To be honest, hackers are more advanced than us.
Correct. It is because they are always working to find out the weaknesses of the Bitcoin/crypto storage system. They must do research and analysis as well. So, that's why we must be more careful and updated the way to store our crypto/Bitcoin assets.

Don't visit random site and always check the site that you log in.
Don't share or send your account information to others specially for those airdrops that ask for your private key.
In line with this, we should also not deal with a person who just messages you in telegram especially when you don't know that person or you don't even expect that kind of transaction.

Yeah, I agree people say that using a hardware wallet is the best way to keep our cryptocurrency but I know not all of us can afford to have it because of its price. And so they don't have a choice but to use an online wallet. Only we have to do is be careful and not use different PC or laptop or let the others use of it otherwise, it compromises your files inside.

Smiley I am very happy to see this post because it is very useful for me because there is so much information in it. Rett syndrome is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects girls almost exclusively. If any patient needs a product to treat this type of issue then meet them, doctors. Any patient has a website and they want Inforgrapihc for great designing. I suggest PhotoADKing website for infographic maker

We often talk about how to use Bitcoin in everyday life and that the use of cryptocurrency be widespread.  We would like cryptocurrency to replace fiat funds in the near future. But first of all, we should think about the security of our cryptocurrency funds, as well as the ease of handling of other users with them.  I believe that before cryptocurrency is massively used in every country, you first need to train people to properly use and store their cryptocurrency funds, because hackers will always hunt for other people's money.  In addition, not everyone can afford a hardware wallet, especially given the current financial condition of an ordinary person.

Yeah, Expect a random person to chat or message you in telegram since most hackers use that application, not degrading the telegram app but that's the real scene for scams. I always receive a random chat from whoever trying to phish sending some suspicious websites. Don't fall for this anyone!

Hardware wallet or software wallet is secured, it depends on who handles it. I am using softwallet for several years and I haven't encountered any hacks yet, anyone should be a keeper especially in this kind of space. But for some reason hardware wallet is much preferred of many since it is tangible and has a less risk of hacking but a high risk of being stolen.
