Its more a media hocks-pocus than anything else. All kinds of cancellations, quarantines but basic precautions are overlooked.
Viruses spread easy with something lots of people touch, like touch-screens. They are everywhere like ticket-machines, self-service checkouts, cash deposit machines and restaurants like Mc. Its a bad joke, in-competed people in charge.

My girlfriend is working in a call center and they just announced that everybody must wash their hands right after they arrive at work, which isn't stupid at all, everyone should do that just because of the hygiene reasons. I used to work there for couple months and it was a terrible experience to write on the keyboards filled with leftovers from food, or touched with greasy fingers, awful thing, so it might change also, people are becoming more and more aware of the risk. All in all, the virus disease might be good for the future.

People should observe sensible hygiene and sanitation procedures, and that is nothing to do with the virus. Lack of sanitation caused many of the plagues in the past, and that is why I am shocked that the US allows people to defecate in the main streets of San Francisco.

It also annoys me to see restaurant staff using the 'loos, and leaving afterwards without washing their hands. That can cause a lot of other health problems as well as the propagation of CV.

They should rather change the lights to UV and turn off AC because we know bacteria love AC filters and pipes. This is turning into a mass hysteria like most Chinese people wear face masks, even though they don't help if you're healthy. Only the sick should wear masks.
Also, hand sanitizers won't help if you keep touching things like steering wheels and door knobs. You'd have to keep washing your hands every time you touch a pen in the office or a computer keyboard.

The CV virus is not an aerosol, but it spreads via droplets, and they fall to the tables within a few feet if people cough in public. That is why it is stupid to see people wearing face masks, and not wearing gloves.

UV is a fairly new idea, the uses are not all thought out yet. As an example, if everyone carried one around and on, no matter how thick the crowd was, the disinfecting properties would scale.

Virus does not survive that long, something like 24 hours in cold winter and < 1 hr in summer.

Were they wearing plastic gloves when they handed you the sanitizer? Did they replace their gloves after handing the sanitizer to you? Did they sanitize their hands before they put the new gloves on? Do they hold their breath so as not to infect their hands, gloves, and sanitizer? Do you think that Sanitizer is effective against much of anything?

They are just trying to prevent the virus from spreading it is better to be safe than sorry and besides it is for their employee's safety.
No one wants to be caught with this virus since it is a very dangerous and we don't know if we are still safe from it,
And I think there is no need to be offended by it instead we have to be thankful for their generosity for offering sanitizer for their customer.

The best part is the hand washing. Washing and washing, all clean now so lets touch the virus infested tap to turn off the water.  Cheesy

I've been visiting Somerset in the van for a few days, and last night I stayed in a picnic area and truck stop. This morning I went into the cafe for an early morning coffee, and I was offered a bottle of hand sanitiser, and asked to use some. This is obviously as a result of the Coron Virus appearing in the UK. I had no problem with complying, but I'm not sure how useful it is. Far more of a problem could be the communal use of the 'loos in my opinion.

I think that it is the correct measurement that is taken from coffee shops and restaurants.
It is not the way that Corona virus is going to be eliminated but it is a way to make a routine to use hand sanitizers and keep our hygiene levels at their highest.

They also dry and a bit warm so close to perfect temperature for the Virus.

Just to clarify things. It wasn't a McDonalds, it was this cafe.

Contrary to popular belief, McDonalds is not the only provider of WiFi that I use, and I don't eat McD food.

I've seen those special UV lamps in hospitals. They are fit into normal ceiling lamp holders and there's a switch in every corridor that allows them to disinfect the area. The lamps are very powerful, so the switches require a key and the area has to be cleared before you can turn them on. Your normal UV lights (the ones used to check cash) won't work.
If itt really survives only 1 hour in hot areas this would answer the the guy who said that there's almost no cases among black people so they have to be immune.

You really need to use as much hand sanitizer as often as you can. Why? Because the sanitizer chemicals introduced into your system through your hands, just might neutralize the poisonous Covid-19 vaccine they are coming out with.

snip..
I think for now you just have to follow the advice (using masks and hand sanitizers) this "PANDEMIC" is really making we obliged to comply with it.  in my city, in almost all restaurants, supermarkets, cafes and public toilets every visitor is required to use hand sanitizers and masks, we as citizens are not a problem with this rule (though not necessarily useful), but this is only the best way I can do to prevent the spread of the Sars-Cov-2 virus is slowing down..

see what would have happened if the rules of using masks and hand sanitizers were not enforced, there would be far more positive sufferers than now. At present governments in all countries and health workers are at the forefront of fighting this virus, we as citizens can only help by wearing masks and hand sanitizers..

Washing hands are much effective way of keeping your hands virus free. Sanitizers are better used in things you can't wash.
Personal hygiene and not puting hands and things on your face and holes would also help.

I don't see any problems with that. I'm a heavy sanitizer user when away from home even before this pandemic. Weird but I actually felt somewhat happy with this, that I'm seeing people actually clean their hands before entering premises.

UV is a fairly new idea, the uses are not all thought out yet. As an example, if everyone carried one around and on, no matter how thick the crowd was, the disinfecting properties would scale.

Virus does not survive that long, something like 24 hours in cold winter and < 1 hr in summer.

Would it be safe to turn on a UV lamp while there are people around though? I haven't bought one but seen review vids and they pretty much vacate the room after turning it on.
