His best Talladega finish in a Sprint Cup car is 19th (2013).  His best finish this year is 23rd.

He should be good for a lot of airtime if he doesn't get caught up in a "big one" (wreck).  The odds of him winning are very slim.

Such Doge, So NASCAR, Wow: Dogecoin and reddit’s NASCAR community raise $50,000 in Dogecoin to sponsor a Doge car at Talladega in May
March 25, 2014 -- NEW YORK-- The hopes and dreams of a digital currency will be riding with NASCAR driver Josh Wise as he pilots the #98 Moonrocket to certain victory at Talladega Superspeedway this spring. The Dogecoin community teamed up with the NASCAR subreddit to raise over 67 million Dogecoin ($50,000) to cover the car with the iconic image of the Doge. 1,200 donations averaging $41 added up to Much Wow!
The fundraiser began when members of reddit’s NASCAR community identified Josh Wise as an up-and-coming underdog driver in need of a sponsor. 8 days later, he now has the most wow sponsor in the history of NASCAR. "I can't thank the Dogecoin and reddit community enough for the support," said Wise, who drives for Phil Parsons Racing. "To the moon!"
For this campaign the Dogecoin community joined forces with the NASCAR subreddit and reddit.com. The car will be primarily Dogecoin themed, and will also feature the reddit alien logo. A potential design for the car can be found at http://bit.ly/DogeNASCAR . Previous Dogecoin campaigns have helped send the Jamaican bobsled team to the Sochi Olympics, raised $20,000 to train service dogs for children with disabilities, and collected $30,000 to build clean water wells in Kenya.
The Moonrocket will make its debut at the Aarons 499 Sprint Series Cup race on May 4th. Updates on the Doge4NASCAR campaign will be posted at http://doge4nascar.org/ .

Last week, the community behind the silly/hilarious/very real cryptocurrency Dogecoin noticed that NASCAR racer Josh Wise was without a sponsor. They needed to raise $55,000 in dogecoins, and Josh would have a ticket to ride. In less than a week, they've done it. You're about to see a Doge race around 'Dega.

Josh's no. 98 Ford (unfortunately, not a Doge Dodge) will hit the track in its brand-spanking new Very NASCAR livery on May 4th at the Aaron's 499 at the Talladega Superspeedway, according to SBNation. And it doesn't get that much bigger than Talladega, as it's the longest track in all of NASCAR.

We don't know what the official sponsor wrap will look like, but a design competition is underway on the official dogecoin subreddit.

That's truly amazing.
Perhaps Bitcoin's users should do something similar? The possibilities would be even grander. A giant BTC logo on time square? Cheesy

That's probably more important than most people here realise. I'm sure the price will rally to at least 0.00000200 very soon Smiley

Will donate about half of my earnings/day.

It´s not necessarily about getting nascar fans to adopt dogecoin. It´s the crazy amount of media coverage that this will bring. I mean, it would be the first crypto sponsored race driver Grin
A car plastered in advertisements is not unique or newsworthy.

The bobsled gimmick was a good one. This, not so much.
What about the doge charity that donated $30,000 to build water wells in kenya. Was that a gimmick?
$30,000 makes a big difference to a non-profit in rural kenya.  that will save lives.

$50,000 will maybe pay for a race or 2 in NASCAR.  imagine if doge had donated $80,000 to building water wells in kenya instead.

it's been said by many $50k doesn't buy airtime for the car; we have no idea if this driver will even qualify.

Dogecoin will probably survive, but it will be viewed as money for kids to buy candy. The biggest obstacle that Dogecoin has against it is the font itself. It just screams as not taken seriously and something that kids would like.

True, but the pre-race buzz and media exposure (that has already started) will be well worth the $50K.  Additional exposure during the race will be gravy.
It's sad that the greed and corruption within the Bitcoin collective (I won't call it a community) is incapable of pulling something like this off.
Many Kudos to the Doge community!  You've done something I thought impossible.  Make me feel good about the cryptocurrency cesspool we've been wallowing in for the last five years.  Cheesy

Do not ever make the mistake of thinking Good Ol' Southern Boys and Girls (ie. Rednecks) lack intelligence or innovation.
I bet there are more mining rigs in the South than moonshine stills.   Cheesy

Doge is doing a fantastic publicity/marketing job.

I don't think so.
Maybe with small sponsorships, but it'll be hard to get a greedy community(most other coins) together to give away 50k.

NASCAR fans on Reddit use DogeCoin to sponsor Josh Wise

Quote
Internet memes, virtual currency and NASCAR. On first glance, they have nothing to do with each other. But they do.

Today, Reddit Racing announced that its fundraiser to sponsor the No. 98 Phil Parsons Racing Ford of Josh Wise was a success. The group was able to reach their $50,000 goal…by raising more than 67 million DogeCoin online....
