Haven't seen such effect these days anymore, the big names in crypto are now even afraid to come out to say something. I haven't heard anything from them anymore like Musk and Draper. Some supported a coin but if you look at the coins they've been supporting, its also crashing. There isn't any coins that can survive this bear. Looking at their pages in coinmarketcap, they were already delisted in all the exchanges and Mcafee still in face palm.

You will feel deprived when the project that you build is have a good function but you don't have someone or how the promotion strategy work. That used to be the norm but not any more investors are now looking for the potential of the platform, not who is promoting the platform, we all know in the past these developers paid a hefty amount and of money to popular promoters, but after getting nothing from these projects, investors are wiser now, they want legit project, not names.

The downtrend perculiar to the prices of cryptocurrency since early 2018 really shut down high profile traders, investors and the so called influencers in the crypto space.  The likes of john McAfee and Ian Balina lost their relevance when cryptocurrency ico's started failing due to lots of scam projects that emerges then. Gone are the days when shilling of project with just a common tweet do change the story of a project.....  However, i believe people still exist that any innovative annnoucement or partnerships from them do brought about a price surge to their tokens.

Influencers greatlt affect how bullish it is. If you would noticed most projects have hired some advisors and they used their expertise or experience to be accounted on their project. Yes many of previous ICOs are doing this, and even IEO projects, but better for a project to showcase also what they have and not just using mouth words that arent effective for people who are looking for a real platforms.

Thats a wrong practice right. Influential or not we must seen the development through works and not by mouths. This is what I hate about fundamentals, since its bypass the technicality criteria to check if the project is really worth or not.

Until now, I don't think anyone can really have a significant influence. The crypto market is really dynamic and difficult to predict, all just speculation, "could be coincidental" right and vice versa. After all, most influencers do promotions with specific goals, paid promoters, you name it. So I prefer to discuss with my friends who are more experienced in the crypto world, rather than following influencers or other signals, or at least only used as a reference only, not as a final decision.

Lol you’re funny, I’m surprised that someone still think this happens this time around. If that was possible and still happening, I guess one influencer will just invest in an altcoin and come out any day to say something about the altcoin and cause the price to pump. I think crypto enthusiasts including investors have learned a lot that influencers do not provide guarantees that the projects they promote will be successful. I also prefer a team consisting of experienced people in their field and the crypto world with several successful projects that have been handled. Nope, not really. Take a look at all the spam I get in my email telling me I can feature my project in 8 podcasts for 2 minutes each, for only 28K USD. That is so crazy, so people are willing to pay 3.5k per 2 minutes slot on a podcast, and all those podcasts are supposed to be non-shills but come on. Who doesn't want thousands of dollars for a few minutes of their time?

It’s because they know that people are going to invest in those projects when an influencer they like recommends it. There’s no difference between that and what you have just said about cryptocurrency influencers.

It was already two years ago since I have last heard about some well-known individuals talking about supporting a certain coin and taking advice to put up on holding into such coin for good for it will get into trend and increase its price as well as popularity in a specified span of time. Those were the old stories now because mostly, such statements including price predictions from well-known individuals are not really happening for the reason that there is no certain individual that can gradually predict the behavior of the crypto market. Nowadays, if you want to be able to know more about certain coins, and you want to identify potential cryptocurrency, you have to exert your effort on seeking and researching about it to be able to get the information you needed added by the tough belief and own instinct based on your own judgement if such coin is worthy or not. People are already learning to do tasks on their own and to not primarily depend or base into some well-known individuals because we all do have different perspective about certain coins. Not just in this crypto space, everywhere celebrities can do magic due to their fame. It had happened many times in this crypto space also. After the revolution of social media, famous people are easily able to trigger waves on any type of investments. I read when an American VJ talked about an android app and its pitfalls, it led to massive amount of uninstallation of that app. (I could not recall that celebrity name and what was that app, I am sorry).

In crypto space I have seen market reacts to Winklevoss brother's tweets and press statements many times. When Elon Musk cleared about the rumor of he is Mr.Satoshi, BCH faced sudden downfall. Mouth of word from famous people is always have more power and this crypto space is no exception as per many past events.

Hype by those guys are really not helping. I remember before all advisor are just jumping ship to each new release ICOs. I wonder what could those guys can help through. Right now its not a thing anymore cause most new projects relies on the exchange and using IEO and doesnt even need a famous one to shill their project. not anymore. not this time. if they are going to shill today, they'd be laugh and may branded as scam when finally the team disappears in the shadows. we all know this is unregulated, any one who scams today go unpunished. even the famous ellen dedeneres weren't able to push up the price of XRP when she shills for it.

this is the time that technology matters the most and which one is best will survive so look up which projects are on top and which has superior codes among them.

Just  fud surrounding with a project will not make it make some big issue in crypto. Technically it is a strategy that whom developing and promoting their coins so far that investors are interested in . I use to remember those days in early 2018 when several influencers on twitter were busy giving us ill conceived notions on the cryptos to buy and hold. We later got to know that most of those predictions were an act of marketing and the influencers were heavily paid for the service rendered.

His words get attention in the twitter world which is also being sent to the crypto communities.
McAfee also became a word of advertisement and many took him seriously but it all stopped.

Gone are those days where some well known person will talk about a coin or even advice people to hold and the price will shot for the sky, this things to work anymore in crypto space today, the last time I witnessed such was in 2018

Haven't seen such effect these days anymore, the big names in crypto are now even afraid to come out to say something. I haven't heard anything from them anymore like Musk and Draper. Some supported a coin but if you look at the coins they've been supporting, its also crashing. There isn't any coins that can survive this bear. Looking at their pages in coinmarketcap, they were already delisted in all the exchanges and Mcafee still in face palm.

We can't see it now because people are already aware of their tactics, they are influencing the minds of newcomers and feels that they can control it.
That is why we can't see huge hypes these days and that such market manipulation is slowed down.

I think this is how the crypto currency space is generally, when it is to favor you, you spread fuds to influence the emotions and trade actions of other traders.

Well, if their opinions/words are really affecting the price of cryptocurrency, it probably means they are honest, consistent, their predictions usually comes to pass, and observant people are aware of this.
 There could be the negative side of this though, people who aren't really honest or consistent could be manipulating price to make their predictions right. < That isn't moral and probably not legal.

People have learned from their past mistakes. This is because such influencer has been cheating investors by promoting various scam ICO's. Now people don't trust them anymore. Their words do not affect the market. So no one will listen to them anymore. People are smart enough now, they know where to invest.

I agree with you but still most of them raise questions in this forum regarding where to invest which means they are still confused.

And yes people are more smarter than before many of them prefer to invest in top 50 alts rather than investing in new projects, recommend not to invest in new projects without knowing any stake of proof.
